- In Resident Evil 4 Mr Leon Kennedy travels to Spain to enjoy the local culture. But what’s this what he thought would be a first world country is a weird medieval village. All he wanted to do was enjoy Tapas but there isn’t even a restaurant around. Capcom must have visited a tourist trap to get this mad.

@@BJGvideosI mean, that’s pretty normal. When you move at such a young age to a different country, not only can you puck up the language pretty fast, but if you come from a place that spoke a different language, you might very well integrate some words from the new language when using the old one.
I speak from experience. My mother is Spanish and we used to live in the US for a while, I still catch myself saying “Jesus Christ” even when I’m not speaking English or “joder” when not speaking Spanish. Funny how that mostly applies to expletives…
Leon Kennedy is peak American mentality:
-Goes to rural Spain for a rescue mission.
-Doesn't learn spanish.
-Ilegally enters an old man home.
-Speaks to him in english while holding a weapon. Something that nobody has done in that town since 1812.
-When the old man asks him to leave his property, Leon shot him.

I think the best part of this is that Leon DOES clearly know some Spanish. He's capable of reading old documents littered about the castle, as well as those all around the village, all of which are definitely written in Spanish. The only documents in the game realistically rendered in English would be Krauser's notes and MAYBE the scientific letters on the Island (English is pretty uniform in academia, it's actually not that uncommon for people in different countries to write papers in English to be published in the bigger journals, but these aren't articles to be published, they are notes left by the primarily Spanish researchers).
Basically, Leon not only knows how to read Spanish, he knows how to read complicated, and likely very archaic Spanish, indicating a level of understanding that goes beyond what even your typical student of the language would realistically be able to read. This goes doubly so if all of Luis' Reports were written in Spanish, as it involves a decently specific form of science that Leon would need to A. know all the vocabulary for in Spanish and B. be able to translate effectively, though given that we see Luis mainly speaking English, it's safe to assume that he wrote in English in his reports (probably to be a dick to Saddler/Los Illuminados). Leon is still clearly fully capable of communicating in Spanish, but he's just malicious I guess.

I heard a similar joke in high school Spanish class that Brazilians speak Spanish with a Russian accent. I don't speak Portuguese, but my dad is from Brazil so I've heard it a lot, and it's a really funny comparison.
@@BrawlerClaws67 I think the joke is about the Portuguese no Brazilians. The many pt-br accent is much different from the Portuguese, having a more singey-songey tone to it.
