Hey brother they make a steering rod support bearing that's what it's called that's what you need to use on that steering rod. You don't want any play in that steering rod at all. If anything needs to be safe it is definitely the steering well and brakes to lol. Look on Speedway motors they sell support bearing for steering rods. Yours looks like a 3/4 inch shaft that's what you would need. Then I would mount the support bearing up just a little higher to give that middle U joint a little less angle. Good luck brother
