I recently had a similar problem with one of my cats but it turned out to be a stress problem which caused over-licking, I made a few changes around the house and it seems to have subsided now. Glad to see Haku doing better, though, and hopefully it all clears up soon! 😊

I can't believe the incredible progress that Pichi has made!!! She's so much braver and you can tell she's genuinely interested in the goings on with the other cats. I have a couple of ferals that I'm making very slow but steady progress with; although it often feels like one step forwards and two steps back. Pichi's progress gives me hope though!
Watching Rachel and Jun's videos are one of the calmest and therapeutic for me as for many who come by. I lost my cat on the first week of new year's and one of my coping mechanisms is watching your videos along with a few other RUclipsrs. I haven't fully recovered from it but every time seeing Poki and Haku, reminding me of my cat, seeing how much both of you treasure all of them in every video just warms my heart. Thank you for putting out light-hearted videos like these as I'm sure it helps others just as much as it does for me. Hope all of you, no matter where you are, stay safe and happy always.

It feels really plasticy and artificial, and it's quite shiny. I think it might actually be some sort of plastic. If not, then like a dried hay sort of thing? It doesn't seem like sisal rope, or any other cat tree rope I've seen.
From the video it definitely looks like sisal, some of my cat towers/trees had cheaper sisal than others, the dyed or coloured sisal definitely felt more plasticy than the undyed sisal if that makes sense
Just started cleaning and reorganizing our house. A lot has changed in the past few months, and it's time to go through stuff. I just cleaned out the linen closet and got a cardboard box freed from that, and like 30 seconds later our orange tabby is already in it looking at me with the "What are you going to do about it" face. I also cleared off the top of one our bookcases (it's taller than me) and it quickly became another favorite spot for the cats. I think the cats enjoy me cleaning more than anyone else. My dogs don't care, though they don't like being told they can't lay on the piles of clean laundry we have to go through and decide if we are going to keep it and where we are going to keep it.
Oh, my gosh.Rewrapping the sisal rope around the cat trees is surprisingly HARD. I've had to do ours twice for the cats and it does take an oddly long time for what it is. Glad to see you were smart and wore gloves. I wasn't. Either time. Go figure. lol Poki is amazingly good at climbing despite his lack of tail. I'm impressed. He's adapted well.
You two are some of the most joyous couples I have ever seen. You enjoy each other and your cats, too! What do you do professionally, for you are so creative and over the top intelligent. I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your posts. After waiting for many years I finally adopted and brought home my first cat at 23 years old and I hope that she does as well as all of your boys and girl. She is a lot like Poki and loves to tell me when she's hungry so I've already had to get creative with how to keep her out of trouble.

This is a really nice video to see. Love seeing Poki, so happy and healthy - he looks like a shorter-haired version of a semi-feral stray we've been taking care of for the last 3 years. Sadly, sometime this last week, he was caught in a trap and taken to the humane society, where he was euthanized because of his medical conditions. So it's nice to be able to watch a video where the cats are loved and cared for.

I think the rope that they used on the scratch posts is made of sisal. It's a fibre derived from agave plants. A bit cheaper than hemp rope, but similar in characteristics.
I used to LOVE cardboard boxes as a kid! My sister and I used to make cities for our stuffed animals. ❤️ We even painted a fridge box and used it as a playhouse for months. lol

I used to LOVE cardboard boxes as a kid! My sister and I used to make cities for our stuffed animals. ❤️ We even painted a fridge box and used it as a playhouse for months. lol
