How do you justify prioritizing all of these social issues and theories into the curriculums when so many children are behind in basic academics? I hate to break it to you guys, but this has been a long time coming and it really got a toe-hold in our universities with women's studies (which should be called feminist studies). They used a marxist lens to analyze and describe the relationship between men and women in society. Many of them advocated openly for socialism, including the proposition that women would not be liberated unless and until children were raised by the state. Some even advocated for reducing the male population. "The Future is Female" slogan comes from an essay from one of the pioneers of women's studies (Sally Miller Gearhart), who I think was the creator of one of the first women's studies programs in the US. "The future, if there is one, is female" advocated that "species responsibility" must be "returned" to women, and that the number men must be reduced to approximately 10% of the human population. I don't know what "returned" means. "Species responsibility" in thriving and productive human societies has never been solely in the hands of women. It's been argued that the concept of fatherhood (paternal responsibility) propelled our evolution from hominid to human, and you can look as far back as you like. There are no civilizations (as distinct from societies) that did not involve some form of patriarchy during their beginnings.

Many years ago, I opened my new text book on ninth grade American History and looked for anything on Native Americans, being full native myself. I was disappointed, there was a half page on the Indian Wars..concluding with the "ambush" on Custer. I continued my high school education later at an Indian boarding school, where I learned a lot about different native cultures and history as well as getting a high school diploma. If "woke" means becoming aware of past injustices, I've known about it all my life. I didn't take for granted anything I was told in public school. Today with all the misinformation floating around on the internet, parents have to be even more vigilant that their children will be taught untruths or even nothing at all.
I agree with the statement that schools no longer focus on teaching. My 11th grade student did not write one essay last year and had only 3 courses each semester. However, much agenda was pushed, particularly extreme gender education and "equity" (which tends to be coupled with hate for America, and demand for equal "outcome" even if you sit on your butt and do nothing). America's tradition has been equal opportunity (which is not the left's goal since I was denied being able to move to our local charter school, being told by the principals of two schools that Newsom had BLOCKED our students' tax dollars and she could not move though our school was on WASC probation). Knowing of much more inappropriate content (CRT, etc) coupled with poor curriculum, we left public school this year. We aren't going back without proof of a severe makeover / cleanup.

They aim to get as much money invested in the Establishment; schools as possible. Teachers learn more ideology than knowledge of their subjects in the education colleges. This started years ago. My daughters are 24 and 25 and I remember them coming home from grammar school (K through 5th grade) and telling me how bad the U.S. was because of what we did to the Indians. Now I believe that they should be taught history, but both sides of history would be nice.

We have a tendency to believe everyone is honest an trying to do what's in the best interest of future generations! School boards spending money on waste instead of actually spending it to teach. People are finally seeing what's been going on an their shocked! Some people believe it's something that just happened they don't get it's been going on! Parents need education! I can show parents of the wasteful spending the school board in my county, the money flows like a river on garbage an the salaries they make is robbery! How do you justify prioritizing all of these social issues and theories into the curriculums when so many children are behind in basic academics? If actually brought forth by the parents this should be a no-brainer. No pun intended. I hate to break it to you guys, but this has been a long time coming and it really got a toe-hold in our universities with women's studies (which should be called feminist studies).
They used a marxist lens to analyze and describe the relationship between men and women in society. Many of them advocated openly for socialism, including the proposition that women would not be liberated unless and until children were raised by the state. Some even advocated for reducing the male population.
"The Future is Female" slogan comes from an essay from one of the pioneers of women's studies (Sally Miller Gearhart), who I think was the creator of one of the first women's studies programs in the US. "The future, if there is one, is female" advocated that "species responsibility" must be "returned" to women, and that the number men must be reduced to approximately 10% of the human population.
I don't know what "returned" means. "Species responsibility" in thriving and productive human societies has never been solely in the hands of women. It's been argued that the concept of fatherhood (paternal responsibility) propelled our evolution from hominid to human, and you can look as far back as you like. There are no civilizations (as distinct from societies) that did not involve some form of patriarchy during their beginnings.

Many years ago, I opened my new text book on ninth grade American History and looked for anything on Native Americans, being full native myself. I was disappointed, there was a half page on the Indian Wars..concluding with the "ambush" on Custer. I continued my high school education later at an Indian boarding school, where I learned a lot about different native cultures and history as well as getting a high school diploma. If "woke" means becoming aware of past injustices, I've known about it all my life. I didn't take for granted anything I was told in public school. Today with all the misinformation floating around on the internet, parents have to be even more vigilant that their children will be taught untruths or even nothing at all.
Let's see how many checks get sent out when you have no taxpayers!

I agree with the statement that schools no longer focus on teaching. My 11th grade student did not write one essay last year and had only 3 courses each semester. However, much agenda was pushed, particularly extreme gender education and "equity" (which tends to be coupled with hate for America, and demand for equal "outcome" even if you sit on your butt and do nothing). America's tradition has been equal opportunity (which is not the left's goal since I was denied being able to move to our local charter school, being told by the principals of two schools that Newsom had BLOCKED our students' tax dollars and she could not move though our school was on WASC probation). Knowing of much more inappropriate content (CRT, etc) coupled with poor curriculum, we left public school this year. We aren't going back without proof of a severe makeover / cleanup.
Honestly, I really do just want to get back to good education. Education parents can be proud of because that is where educators get their authority, from parents. I’m interested in classical education for this reason. I also believe in providing the opportunity of bilingualism for all students in America if parents want this for their children. I believe in the opportunity of bilingualism, And I don’t believe any particular group should have it and others be denied it simply because of their cultural or racial background.
