i’ve never heard a version where the euphonium plays under the melody(french horn) in the beginning. i remember playing a version of this hymn in high school and i was euphonium 1 and had to play it. i have the hymn on spotify i play it on repeat every day. this is beautiful
My wife walked down the aisle to a brass quintet arrangement of this at our wedding. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Well done!
What arrangement was it? I have dreamt of also walking down to this but can never find a fitting arrangement. I would be so grateful!
@@Cat-jz6cr You can get our brass quintet version here! www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/the-jupiter-hymn-from-the-planets-digital-sheet-music/22297994
@@Cat-jz6crmy friend arranged the music for us. He was the tuba player of the quintet.
This is exactly what should be played at graduations.
Yes, graduations in Britain
I think it would be pretty cool in America too
This music has downward trends and accents, it conveys sadness and nostalgia, not really what you want for graduation. For graduation you want moving forward and going out to seek ones adventure.
No because then it would be overused
We play this at our graduations every year with our new band director
One of America’s great brass ensembles right now. No doubt. Perhaps better than Chicago!!! They are in shambles ever since they kicked out David Cooper!
Willie Clark I could kiss you, thank you for doing us justice
good god I love brass ensembles
We played a brass arrangement similar to this as a warm up back in high school before marching band competitions, and to this day I cannot imagine a more beautiful piece of music. It always took my breath away, and not just because I was playing an instrument, but because this hymn has such an epic and brazen beauty. Truly one of my favorite things I've ever played
By any chance was it called chorale 11?
@@BRDman8045 Honestly don't remember what it was called. It's been about 10 years
Simply one of the greatest tunes ever written
this gave me chills
ruclips.net/video/SKAqmqVQ700/видео.html this gives me chills……
Stirring!
People tend to, in my opinion, misunderstand the meaning of “Jupiter Bringer of Jollity”....
The downward style the song uses, does indeed bring a sense of nostalgia, but the brass combination brings a sense of “peace” and “new beginning”....
Its also good to say, that nostalgia is important for a graduation, because your leaving a place you have attended for years....
Theres plenty of memories to go with that....
The Jupiter Hymn was our wedding processional. #bandgeeks4life
Why does this make me cry
Fabulously simple and moving.
i’ve never heard this with only brass instruments, i love it!!
I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no questions, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there's another country, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.

Félicitations pour cette prestation et merci pour le partage.
Does anyone else kind of think of John Williams music when they hear this?
We certainly do! John Williams was influenced by the great 20th Century composers: Respighi, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Holst of course, and many others!
You are really wonderful! Thank you for the beatiful music!

Can I please get the sheet music of this arrangement. It’s beautifull and would love to play this with my brass ensemble.
It's in the description of the video ;)
Also known as "I vow to thee my country"
The British patriot song “I vow to thee my country” is based on this.
Anybody know what arrangement this is??
ruclips.net/video/SKAqmqVQ700/видео.html listen to this arrangement.
How / where can I get a copy of this score ?
For my ensemble I just listened to it and wrote it myself. It's easier than you would think.
It might be a bit late for this, but it's in the description of the video
@@astrellas5007 did it get removed? I don't see it, but I might just be big dumb
Might want to back up to get all of the performers in the frame.
They got the low brass, so they got all the important ones. :)
Add the organ to the arrangement!
