I cannot believe that I am a 78 year old grandmother native West Virginian that has cooked all my life and I am now learning to cook better from a young man like you. You and Melissa are a blessing. I'm watching every video since I found you. Never had corn chowder but will be making it tomorrow... looks delicious. God bless you both. Thank you for sharing your talent!
You cannot imagine how much your comment encourages us. We appreciate you so very much. You have truly blessed us today. Thank you for watching and reaching out to us. May God bless you!
I love your show, especially how you lay out all the ingredients before you start cooking. I made your Mexican chicken casserole for our card game tomorrow. We will see how they like it.
I will certainly be watching the 6 Souper bowl Sunday series. I love soup in the winter months and now I will have 6 new soups!! Thank you Tom and Melissa
My Mom is 89 She faithfully watches your channel !!! She loves that you have all your ingredients ready to go!! She loves you both Says she feels she is in your home Miss Ruby Gibson is a Fan !
I am a retired teacher also. I LOVE how clearly you explain your recipes. I also LOVE how you have them organized in the playlist. Once a teacher, always a teacher!!❤
I love the scissors and the bacon. BRILLIANT! I am left-handed. Fortunately for me, my father was left-handed, and my mother had a great love and admiration of him. When the school tried to change my chosen handwriting, my mother challenged them, and they stopped messing with me. Being left-handed has some challenges, considering that everyone assumes the world was designed for right-handed people. HUMPH! I made things work, but in my forties, I went to work at a clothing factory as a machine operator. I worked there for a number of years before I realized that sewing machines were created especially for left-handed people! LOL ... most all of the manipulation of fabric through machine under the needle is done with the left hand. It was an exhilarating realization! Left-handed people are special - - there are only about 10% of the population is left-handed. I could probably go on, but ... LOL
I can’t tell you how happy I am to have found your channel! I have made many of your recipes and I’m very much looking forward to the Souper bowl recipes! You are a blessing to me!
Back in 2014 Michigan had a very hard winter, We was snowed in a few days before Valentine's day. we don't go all out for that day because I think we should treat those we love good all year and not just the one day Hallmark tells us to. I went in and wanted to cook my husband a good dinner yet I had very little to pick from in our home due to being snowed in, I seen this recipe pop up On the computer and I had all the items I needed to make it . That was one of the best meals I have ever made my husband for Valentine's day. 🙂
Looking forward to this SOUPER series with Melissa and Tom!! We are a retired couple who love having a soothing bowl of soup for our late evening meal with a piece of cornbread! So filling, yet not stuffed feeling. Y’all rock! Thanks for sharing.😊🥹
TThank you Tom & Melissa, I made this soup & it was super delicious! I text the recipe to my sister in another city & she made it for her grandchildren & they loved it. J sent my neighbor a bowl for her husband & herself & they loved it. Thank you. Do you know what I can substitute for the heavy cream for a family member who is lactose intolerance? Tnk you, Anita St-Julien
Wow the corn chowder looks amazingly good. The brown delicious bits at the bottom of the pot was called pan drippings by most of our grandparents. The French call it Fond which translates to “the bottom” or “base”. I can’t wait to try out this chowder. ❤
I’m a widower now,,,and learning to cook…..I absolutely love your recipes….mainly because you are precise and speak slowly and technical…. Makes it simpler to understand….Thankyou for expertise……GOD BLESS ….
Wow, this is almost identical to my mom's recipe for Ham and Corn Chowder, one of my earliest childhood food memories. Before I knew what it was called, as a 6 year old, I used to ask her if she would "make some of the white soup." I'll be 73 at the end of April and to this day I still make it and love it as I have my entire life. Thank you for this video! Something I learned years ago was, as a thickener, instead of using corn starch is to use some instant mashed potatoes, as a thickening agent and really the only thing I use them for, a little bit goes a long way.
I use instant mashed potatoes too! Once (many years ago) I was making tuna salad for sandwiches for my husband's (now ex) lunch for work. I had too much mayo in it so I added instant mashed potatoes to it. Worked like a charm & he really liked them & he had no idea I added the instant mashed potatoes. Plus it thickened it enough to make him 2 filled sandwiches from one small can of tuna.
Really looking forward to this SOUPer series. Definitely off to a good start with this one. I'm a lefty here too. My grandmother told my mother to make me change, because that's what they did to my grandmother when she was a child, but my mother said I was just fine the way I was. Yes, it has obstacle sometimes, but it also teaches you to be incredibly adaptable to exist in a world created for righties. I actually like black pepper in my creamy foods because I like to see the black flakes, and I'm one of those who likes a heavy hand with pepper. I'd probably add the cayenne or maybe some hot sauce to it. I like spicy. As always, truly appreciate these videos. Thank you!
It certainly looks delicious. I will definitely make this recipe &ike tje way you explain everything. Thanks for sharing this recipe. We're almost neighbors. I'm in NE Tennessee. God Bless. Youve made me hungry😂🎉❤
Tom and Melissa, i love finding your channel. Your recipes are simple and delicious. Thank you for sharing your favorites with my family. Have a great 2024.
This was one of my favorite soups my father used to make. He never added cayenne pepper, not even sure it was even available or used in Canada in the 60s. His recipe was a little different but he learned his when he worked on ships in the 50s.
Hi Tom and Melissa. Thank you for the yummy chowder recipe. After all my years of cooking I have discovered a trick to keep your eyes from burning while chopping onions that acutually works. I have learned that onions seek out liquid, the closest being your eyes. Wet a paper towel and lay it near your cutting board while chopping onions. Eye burn solved! :-)
I am an 81-year-old widow & have never eaten or made Corn Chowder. I am definitely going to remedy that after watching this video. I very much enjoy watching your other videos and will be trying many of those also.
You could make it the night before then when you get home from work, just heat it up! Most soups are even better if they set over nite! Yummmmmmm !💕💕💕👍👍👍🍵🍵🍵
This look so good! I like to take a immersion blender just a bit to blend up! Can’t wait for other recipes!! Mexican cornbread 😋 be good with this soup! Bits at bottom of the pot is called Fond!
I think you nailed it!!! I was trying to think of a side......I was almost tjhinking some rye bread. But I think the mexican cornbread sounds way better!!!! Thanks!!
We did a series of six soups and stews for the Souper Bowl Sunday series this past winter. We would love for you to check them all out. It's just about "soup season" again. We love them in the fall and winter seasons.
There’s nothing could be better on a cold day. We only eat homemade soups. No canned stuff! Except for tomato soup with a grilled cheese. Even then I have to doctor it up with Italian seasoning and some fresh basil, chives, a little sugar etc. thanks Tom and Melissa 🥣🌽🥔🙏🙏🙏
Wow....this looks so good.....and also easy to make! I'm a left too 🙋 I once had a psychologist tell me that left-handed people are in their "right" minds. He said the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body...? 😉 We are unique....🥰
Great 🤤bring the recipes on honey. Can’t wait to get them love soup specially vegetable soup.😋 and Tom you looking pretty warm in your red shirt honey. Thank you so much. God bless you guys and Melissa how did your ladies outing go?
Really glad I came across your Souper bowl corn chowder recipe. I have been wanting to make corn chowder. I love soup year round. Looking forward to future posts from you and Melissa.
I am a 77 year old widow and now have to cook for myself. Soups have always been a favorite dish, winter or summer, so your ingredients and size of dish will be easy for me. Keep cooking and sharing. Thanks!
Greetings Tom & Melissa. I love watching your videos and cooking your recipes. You cook like my Grammy taught me to cook (age5, standing in a chair to see in the skillet). I've cooked several of your recipes, and my family is so pleased that I'm cooking "country" style. Lol. Thank you both for your hard work and for sharing another great recipe with us. ❤
We are so glad you have joined us at the table, and we are delighted that you have enjoyed some of our recipes. Thank you so much for watching our channel. We hope you are having a great day.
I made this last night. I did a taste test. It was delicious. 😊We let it sit over night. Today … maaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn, it’s waylicious!! Made so sweet cornbread to serve with it. Fried up some sausage and put that and the bacon in containers and encouraging people to get whatever meat protein power they want as a topping: fried sausage or bacon on top vs in the chowder. Or some of both. It’s deeeelicious. Thank you so mucho❤
I love your ideas for the bacon and sausage and of course, cornbread for the WIN! Thanks so much for watching and we appreciate that you've joined us at the table. Have a great night!
Looks so good. Can't wait to try it. Tom, really love your teaching techniques. I am 80 years old and am learning so much from your recipes. Have tried many of them and the were ALL a big hit with my family. You and Melissa be Blessed!
I just love our recipes. I've been a regular follower for several months now, and haven't had a dud recipe yet. This is one I'm thinking of making tonight. From a loyal Canadian
Hello Tom & Melissa- We really love soups in the winter. This is a perfect thing to cook up on any day !Thanks for doing this series of Souper Sundays ! Pretty Clever title . We enjoy you 2 sharing your recipes & time with us. Have a Blessed day,🙏👏👏👏💕🌻
Thank you so much for the encouragement. We are excited about this series as well. We hope you're having a great day. We appreciate that you've joined us at the table.
I made this for the family tonight and it was another hit. I doubled the recipe and used a whole pound of bacon because who doesn't like bacon. I did use half a cup of cornstarch because I doubled the recipe, but it didn't thicken like yours does. It was still wonderful! The family (six of us) have loved the White Chicken Chili, the Poor Man's Soup and now the Corn Chowder. I just made the fourth batch of Fire Crackers today because those are so addictive for everyone, especially me. I'm watching your tutorials looking for good food I can make for them (I live with my youngest son and his family) and contribute to the good food we sit down to at our table. Thank you for so generously sharing your recipes and tutorials! ❤
Hi Tom and Melissa I love corn chowder but have never made it ! This recipe looks both easy and delicious and I’ll be making it and serve it with cheesy garlic bread ! Thanks Melissa for always adding the recipe with each video, I really appreciate it and seeing Tom making the recipe is wonderful because he gives so many great tips along the way!! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
Hello, you must have been very good school teachers. You are prepared with your ingredients. You explain step-by-step. So young people can understand. You are very clear on what goes in And how to do It . Look delicious I will try this Chowder Soup Tom and melisa thank you
You are so welcome. We like for our video to be as organized as we can possibly make it. We realize that some new cooks are part of our channel, so we don't want anyone to be confused about how to put a recipe together. Thank you very much for joining us on our channel.
Wow, this looks absolutely delicious! I just can't wait to try. We love soup ! Love from debbie and Dexter-Dog 🐶🐾🙏 my sweet tiny rescued Chihuahua companion living a quiet crafty life in southern California.
I love seeing someone on RUclips using the fabulous Cutco knives. I’ve had mine since 1971 (52 yrs) and I just sent them off to be sharpened for the first time. Thing is, I use them everyday so I become a little anxious about being without them for any length of time. I’ll get over it I’m sure. Way to go Tom and Melissa.
Hope your anxiety over the absence of your knives is short lived and they are home with you soon! It's hard to be without a favorite product! We get it! Thanks so much for watching our channel.
I’m right here with you guys for soup-er bowl Sunday. Love soups even during summer and we live in the desert of California where temps can get above 130 degrees. It’s just plain good anytime. Look forward to your series
Thank you so much for watching our channel. We really do appreciate that you are at the table with us. We hope you enjoy this soup as much as we do. Have a wonderful week.
I was planning to make this tomorrow and I was thinking I should try to find this video to review. Opened up my phone and there you were cooking Corn Chowder. Must be the Lord's will.
At our restaurant, we had certain soup days. I used to make corn chowder all the time on the cream soup day, which was tuesday. To add bacon to it, what a great idea. We are super lovers. I will be watching your Souperbowl recipes. I love soup, spring, summer, fall, and winter.
We are so happy to have you watching our channel. It's a bit intimidating, I must admit, to have restaurant owners watching though! We aren't professional or fancy but we do love good food. Thank you so much for your encouragement. Hope you're having a great day.
@@comesitatmytable9044 don't be intimidated of having restaurant owners watch you. You will give great ideas for recipes and daily specials. We no longer have our landmark of a restaurant. It's been gone awhile now after generations of family running it. It was down home cooking nothing fancy. You and Melissa just keep doing what you're doing because you do a great job at it and you have wonderful recipes.
Great idea to make soup every Sunday! I make soup twice a week to have with lunch but only recently started making creamy ones so looking forward to seeing what types you will make, starting with this corn chowder! By the way the "stuff" on the bottom of the pot is called Fond.
I love soup!!! Perfect! Protein doesn't only come from meat. Cows don't eat meat, and they get pretty big. The cornbread would provide protein with the flour and cornmeal. I modify your recipes to not use animal products, and they are good and much much healthier.
Tom and Melissa thank you for the recipe and idea for my supper tonight. I used homemade chicken broth I had canned that was full of flavor I also used home grown canned carrots and silver queen corn I had cut off the cob and frozen as well as everything else in your recipe minus the red pepper which I don’t like. It turned out sooo good! It hit the spot. Again thank you for sharing your recipes not only for this but all of your other recipes. I hope you have a wonderful day. Brenda
Oh my goodness my favourite soup of all time besides beef barley..looks amazing ..going to try ur way ..thanku for sharing and can't wait for the other soups ur going to make..have a beautiful day and enjoy❤

Great tip! I have never heard that, and I can't wait to ask Tom if he has. But that sounds like a very reasonable explanation and solution.

Woo-hoo!! I love to make soup. Thanks Tom can’t wait to see what you have in store for us.
Love this. I made a pot of potato/corn chowder yesterday! Soup is so good on these dreary weather days 👌also fried some cornbread patties😋
Ooooh, cornbread patties...amazing!
I never thought of frying cornbread. Do you just use a regular cornbread recipe?
I’m right here with you guys for soup-er bowl Sunday. Love soups even during summer and we live in the desert of California where temps can get above 130 degrees. It’s just plain good anytime. Look forward to your series
I love hearty soups in the winter. Will certainly add this one.
We hope you like it as much as we do. Thank you for joining us at the table. Have a great day.
What a perfect idea Tom & Melissa also perfect soup Blessings💚💛Bodi
Love adding new soups to the menu. Thanks so much for this series.
I agree that white pepper is a bit hotter.
Love soups! Thanks for doing this!!! I knew I liked watching you but being lefty also now I know why your cooking clicks even more😊!
We are so glad to have you watching our channel. You lefties have to stick together! Have a great evening.
I love soup. Thank you for doing this fun series
I can eat soup every day! Winter summer doesn't matter to me! This looks yummy
Clever series name, and appropriate for the cold weather - I'm looking forward to your soups!
Thank you so much for watching our channel. We are excited about this series- we love soups, especially when it's cold outside.
Love all of your recipes Best of best
I love soup!!! Perfect! Protein doesn't only come from meat. Cows don't eat meat, and they get pretty big. The cornbread would provide protein with the flour and cornmeal. I modify your recipes to not use animal products, and they are good and much much healthier.
The residual on the bottom is called yum yums! This recipe looks wonderful!
I find myself trying to help Tom blow to cool the soup. Lol. Love love your shows. 😊
Brenda
🤗 Thank you Tom and Melissa, This looks really good and I'm going to make it this week
Every video you put out is a hit in our home 🏠❤️👍💯
We appreciate that you are watching. Thanks so much for the encouragement in your comments.
Just made this as we are basically "snowed in" and it is WONDERFUL!
Here in Kentucky we have had a rainy, windy day but we haven't had snow. This soup is a perfect meal, though, for a cold day. We hope you enjoy it.
