Practicing for smash is kinda hell, online is ass, if you dont go to locals constantly you are not going to get better and the chances of players in your region playing all the roster is mostly unlikely. So getting used or learning match ups is a dream of sorts.
Love both Smash and Street Fighter content, your Terry tournament runs got me into Street Fighter. I think I definitely enjoy playing Street Fighter more.

I see so many people like "hurrr durrr kazuya so OP!" and put him in the same category as brain dead top tiers that even little timmy on elite smash can play well with like Pythra, Joker, Steve, etc. Kazuya disadvantage is basically guaranteed because he has no real neutral game and most of the combo routes are so linear because of his 7 frame jump squat and overall slow ground / air speed so its either you get the combo that they know you are fishing for or you don't. Matchups are extremely volatile and he just feels inconsistent both for the player and the opponent.

What I mean is that most of the other top tiers, are top tier because they can make mistakes in neutral and not get punished, you know exactly what they are fishing for and you will still get hit by it anyway because their character is just that good. It is really fun when you run into one of those lame campy snakes that just spams grenades and you do exactly that, just use laser with kazuya, and then you condition them to laser and then use the reflector on one of their grenades and kill them at like 70% because they were NOT ready.
7:10 As an ex Hero main. I xan confidently say that we do it mainly because Hero's aerials are decently laggy with the exception of nair and up air. So, in hopes that we don't get punished, we choose the fastest or safest options to hopefully not get punished. And spot dodges and rolls are too tempting to pass up. Now, a good Hero will replace this habit with either a dash back, d-tilt, or jab. Idk why they roll towards center stage, though. I mean, Hero is pretty heavy. I believe he's the 29th most heaviest character in the game? So he doesnt exactly die early unless he's gimped. There's my 2 cents

Yeah, over the years people have gotten pretty dang good at not letting Kazuya get his hands on them, or if he does get a strike in it's only a poke or laser and not a zero-to-death strings combo.... whilst he has to navigate being zoned to even get in that striking range.

Just play for time outs. Unless it’s Steve who can throw up a wall you’re pretty much fine. That early snake battle is basically who you win in modern day smash time outs . Or oppent makes a approaching mistake
laser camping is not good in a lot of matchups. most characters are fast enough to punish kaz laser unless you're on opposite sides of the stage. if you learn his threat range and don't approach predictably, he crumbles. every character's punish game is getting better and kaz's weak disadvantage is becoming more of an issue in the meta. hes not even top 10, let alone top 2
@ that’s the point opposite side of the stage they have to approach you and if they are in medium range run away until they are in that close range sweet spot.

You clearly do not play this game at a high level (Top 50 in the world kazuya here btw). Kazuya struggles so much in this meta cuz it evolved into a bait and punish/no interaction meta, which is totally against kazuyas playstyle. People say "omg he kills you off of a hit" yeah he can but if you know the matchup rarely will you be put into a position where kazuya can touch of death you, even Luigi has a better chance at doing it since his combos do not rely on di as much as Kazuya's. Electric is an insane move but it is actually pretty hard to land if the opponent knows what they're doing, btw yeah kazuya is good but he's not that good simply because he doesn't play smash if you know what i mean. Even if kazuya has quote on quote results the top 5 meta characters are probably his worst matchups on paper (Steve, G&W, Snake and Sonic), while he can keep up due to the fact he does have the best punish game if done optimally, in practice he's probably the hardest character to play on a tournament. I know it sounds super dumb but he is truly hard to play, most of the bad rep kazuya gets is because he's dumb at mid level play and online, but at top level any top player can beat you up with low and bottom tiers, i have high hopes though i dont think Kazuya is gonna get worse like Riddles says but at the moment the counter play against kazuya is growing and getting more well known than the rate of development the character currently has.
