Either way, get out and shoot! It’s All Good! I’ve always been fascinated by Jungle Carbines, but I’m set up for reloading .308 already , so the JC .303 found another new home. The biggest problem with that Tikka is the price. It's magazine fed only. So what's the advantage over the other scout rifles at half the price? It isn't that H&K rear sight. And it isn't it's lack of a bayonet lug. And from what little I know, there's no weight savings... IMO only, and not any attack on you. That rifle was a failure government contract. The Colt Canada licensing thing is B.S. and once again cost taxpayers money. Like the vid, but hate what that rifle represents... Keep up the great videos! And I'll try to bitch less...

    • @Riflechair

      The C-19 probably cost the tax payer $10,000 to $15,000 ea. You can find an ‘as new’ Arctic for roughly $2200 now. The cost of building your own with a similar sighting system would be horrendous. The sights remind me of the ASCC reticle and draws your eye to the centre. I’ve played wi5 the HK style sight before and hated them. Way too much play (loose) and I pray that Tikka was smart enough to figure that problem out. This isn’t a scout rifle - I chose my words carefully - “General Purpose Rifle”. A bayonet lug would be cool but just more weight. I try to see past the Government’s licensing drama but you’re right. I wish we had competent governance. I love the rifle and am willing to bet my safety on it.

    • @Danceswithempties
      @Danceswithempties 3 года назад +1

      @@Riflechair Not going to debate that the rifle is not competent for your application. It's what it's intent was to replace. Without feed ramps for a stripper clip, a bayonet lug & accuracy that is par with any other hunting rifle. What do you get for $2200? A rear sight? And you are 100% right the c-19 cost was ridiculous. Before Bill C-71 a C-8 could be put together for under $1000 by a civilian. IMO: A person looking for a general purpose rifle has much better options for the money. A NO.4 MK1 might be a start? Just my 2 cents & not looking to start a fight. Internet debate is all.

    Not knowing exactly what the condition is of the land yer looking at - when it comes to land YOU own, that's easy. If there's say 100-200M or less, the thought occurs of leaving it be, punching it out only as needed when the time comes. This avoids a lot of paperwork etc, and it prevents others from having an unmonitored access to your land.
    Past that, if it were Yukon, Id suggest simply getting a firewood cutting permit. In your case that might not work. That said, if the land in question is 'strictly' crown land, not disputed/claimed/etc, then id suggest that the less people that know of it, the better. You may, 'may', be opening up yourself for nonsense you do not want.
