My Muskoka I did not, might not hurt to put Teflon tape or some kind of thread tape on to make it seal better. I was actually thinking about that last night, the next one I do I’ll be putting some kind of thread sealer on it to make sure it’s 100% threaded and sealed
True North Muskoka so I recently bought a 05 Xterra offroad, abs I bought some clear silicone and threaded the breather down a good bit, then siliconed the base of the breather and carried the silicone up to the base of the hose to make sure it was good and sealed. I feel the silicone would seal the adapter better than the Teflon or the pipedope
jaynesc29 if you plan on the axles being submerged then yes. Mostly paved roads? Nah. This would be a highly recommended thing if you had the M226 variant axle. But the c200k not so much. But you could, wouldn’t hurt anything!
jaynesc29 the stock part tends to get clogged/ corroded shut and this blows the axle seals and can result in major issues with the rear diff. I know all about that now lol. Do it no matter where you drive
Glenn Mason the main reason I did it was bc there is no breather for the rear axle that will keep water from getting into the axle, and being as it's 4x4 I knew that it would get taken off-road and didn't want to chance the axle heating up and blowing seals when I went off-road and had to cross water. I don't have blown seals in my axle yet so I'm assuming it works
I pulled my tail light the other day and looked at the filter and it’s clean! I’ll be doing my rear axle soon, as a few weeks ago I went into some water up to the cab.
I hope you all enjoy this DIY instructional video! If you have any questions ask!
Do you need to put any teflon tape or pipe dope on the threads of the new adaptor to seal the threads.

I have a 4 cyl 5 speed. Just a basic work truck, on dirt roads here and there but mostly pavement. Would you recommend this mod?

Interesting video. May do this on my 2015. Any updates since you installed it? Thanks.
