That pfffft sound we heard when you removed the factory breather tells me it wasn't working properly. There was pressure in the diff which could have blown your axle seals. Not good!
I think if you checked this every year or so clean it with some carb spray or something you would not have a problem I owned a eighteen wheeler that kept plowing seals saw this little breather on the axle one day while pressure washing my frame cleaned it and never had another seal blow. No I don't mud bog with my Frontier, this is probably a good idea if you do.
Lose the filter it will attract some moisture in time and also limit air flow , which defeats the purpose. You’ll be changing those out once a year or should. The breather vent doesn’t have a filter, it won’t get dirty inside the tail light housing anyway.
or just use a k&n PCV type filter instead. Should last a long time if you wanted a filter on the end of the hose. I know on these Frontiers the front dif uses just a tube as you mentioned. Not sure why they didn't use a tube on the back?
You probably dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can watch all the latest series on Instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend recently xD
I have a 22 frontier with 15k. My pinion seal is leaking really bad .I've always had some whine on acceleration uphill so I'm assuming they are related .after the repair (hopefully replacement) I plan to do this mod .I've never went off road with mine yet
@@TexasOatmeal not the wrong tread. They are just really tight. I removed the factory one and had to use a breaker bar at first. When installed Genuine nissan, I thought I was doing something wrong, so bought another one and same, fits really tight. Couldn't tighten all the way regardless. Ended up with 2 treads showing because I did not want to overtighten.
Best diff mod video I've seen yet. About to do mine and this is very helpful. Thank you!

I concur, best video Ive seen on this mod , well done and useful info, thanks.

I installed the same kit, very easy to do. Great Video!

Keep the filter, ggz
I just bought a 2019 SV. Thanks for the how to video. I will be doing this on mine soon.

@Dillon Orlando Yea, I've been watching on Instaflixxer for months myself :D
Could you please list out the parts you used, and where you got them? Thanks!!! Appreciate the vid.!!!
Great vid I don't think that hose barb 9040-51026 works on the Pro 4x. Tried it and threads didn't line up probs cause of the larger axle.
Don`t forget to factor some extra length of fuel line for the times that your truck is goig to be off it`s wheels!!
Hey TO, thanks for the info. I’ve a ‘14 Frontier with about 100,000 miles. So I’m gonna try this and hopefully before I blow a seal.
Nice...that's some mileage for sure!

Warranty?
@@SeanDIY uhhhh yeah dude?that's what I just said
@@bengleckl1877 I'd wait until the warranty is up to do any mod.
@@SeanDIY I have a 100k warranty .thatsba long wait ..why should I wait to do a breather mod ?
@@bengleckl1877 good point. The 100k is probably powertrain only?
Excellent work thanks for sharing!
Filter is made for 5/16 inch and 3/8 inch fuel line. You're using 1/4" fuel line.
Hi, good work. Can you tell me why you used a fuel filter for this mod? Thank you
Cause it acts like an air filter, letting it breath an not letting dirt an Shit in, ggz
Probably just use a $5 fuel filter for a lawn mower.
Is this for the M226 or the C200?
how would you find out which one you have?
Wish i would have seen this earlier. Both axle seals are leaking on my 21’ with 26k miles
I wish you show which way the filter goes I just installed mine but didn't know how the filter go like if it has an up or down way to put it in place.
It doesn't have a wrong direction
Nice install vid!
Is this necessary if you don't off road?
Would like to know also
It is handy if you live anywhere that snows as the road salt will rust the vent shut.
Even if you don’t off-road, people still have had seals blow regardless due to the vent getting clogged. Better safe than sorry.
What’s that bar going across the bed of your truck for?
Just a load management bar.
Any idea what the part number is for the Toyota part you installed?
This was too long ago...I can't remember and I don't know why I didn't show it in the video. My bad man.
@@TexasOatmeal all good you actually had it in the video and I missed. Found it when i rewatched! Thanks
Offtopic but what size does a Nissan Frontier 2019 axle carry d40 or d44?
Ummmm...i think 40. I really don't know though! 😆
@@TexasOatmeal Dana Hybrid 44 on the PRO 4X. Not sure on the non Pro 4x variants.
Where can I find the parts for this?
Got all mine from amazon
Toyota part is the wrong tread. Ordered it and I’m not about to cross thread the shit out of it
Man...they just fit really tight...I tired several and this one fits better than others I was told to get.
