I've collected pineapple stuff for years and years, written and read fics from the beginning, had a pretty active tumblr page dedicated to the show, obsess over the actors (James Roday will always been one of my top celebrity crushes, and apparently we grew up just a few miles away from each other), etc... Psych has played a large role in my life. Some of my best friends that I talk to every single day I met because of Psych. The 80s references on this show are beyond outrageous. As an 80s kid I totally get about 90% of them. I know people of all ages love this show, including my own teenage children, but I don't think anyone truly "gets" it like an 80s kid. FYI: An 80s kid is not someone who was born in the 80's, but rather someone who came of age in the 80s.
Most of the 80s references goes over my head, despite that its still my favourite show ever. Probably because the writers know what the show is (absurd comedy) and they don’t try to say it’s something else. Plus I love how creative they get for a police detective show and not take it so serious (like proposing near a crime scene lol) Edit: forgot about the bromance. Absolutely favourite part of the show
You're so right! This show is so underrated! I watch the entire season of this show and Monk at least twice every year. It's like comfort food or stress relief for me.
I agree with your opening opinions on the whole but you throw around the word "underrated" even though you clearly mention it was critically loved. I think the word you're looking for is "overlooked" because Psych very much is that. Other than that this is excellent.
This is not the first time someone has said that. So, I might need to change using the word. Overrated/Underrated IMO carries different meaning. Psych did receive solid acclaim, but we would be kidding ourselves to be saying it was held up to Big Bang Theory/Parks and Rec, etc. So, in that regard, I do keep it underrated. I think especially with the network placement it is certainly 'overlooked' which might be a better qualification. Something I'll have to be mindful for.
This makes me so happy, I originally started watching psych while I was doing my chemo and the movie came out the day I finally became cancer free. It will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for showing others how awesome it is❤️
I’m a total Psych-O!!(as are my five kids as well) watched from the pilot on, I own them all on DVD, I recruit people to watch what I call the best series you never knew existed!!! I agree 100% with your observation on how underrated not only Psych was but USA as well!! I liked and I’m sharing this to recruit more Psych-Os!! 🍍 🍍 🍍 ⬅️The only thing missing from your observations🤓😉
Best show ever. It's a testament to the strength of that show, that while I was taking my kids trick or treating, one of the houses had a psych pineapple carved pumpkin. Kinda sad that I recognized it, but people *still* love the show, even after it's been off the air for so long.
Nater Tot yes! Especially the finale episode of season two with the mummy. Tuesday the 17th is by far my favorite horror themed episode though. Its got depth as a character episode for lassie, it’s scary for psych, plus it’s funny as usual. “Gus, this is a pool skimmer!...” lol
made me think of the episode, in plain fright "Gus, say zoinks!" "I'm not saying zoinks" "Then say jinkies!" "Jinkies.." "He and Guster think they're in a cartoon mystery show with a talking great dane and a psychedelically painted van." "Scooby-Doo?" "Is that why he keeps calling me Velma?" 😂
Bro..... this video legit made me tear up... I've been watching this show since it first aired on USA, and I have always said it is my FAVORITE show! Thanks for making this lmao
Thanks so much for the comment. Chuck is the very first video I did. It's actually part reason why I started this channel. It's my first video, so it's a bit unpolished. Please check it out though!
2020 im currently watching psych on Amazon prime. I remember watching previews before the show actually started n knew I'd like it. It is one of my fav series ever!
Fun fact: my cousins banned me from watching new episodes of Psych from them cause I've had a super good track record of guessing the murderer by the halfway point of the episode. It's really good though, the scooby doo comparison might explain why I was good at it since I used to binge that as a kid
I have that talent, too. I credit mine to my mom reading me murder mysteries as a child. She would always stop before the ending and have me guess who did it.
I started watching this show back when I was in middle school, and still regularly watch it to this day. Me and my whole family enjoy it so much. It really has been a staple in growing up for me.
Great video and great callout to Scooby-Doo! But no mention that, much like House or X-Files, it uses the Sherlock Holmes model? The quirky, but brilliant investigator, the medical field related grounded sidekick, the jealous, but ever honorable police detective rival, the demented super villain equal that pushes or hero to their limits.
These are great references but they have been made before. I think any time there is private detectives and they have a strange relationship people immediately go to Sherlock Holmes. So, I just wanted to try and differ from that. X Files is another quality comparison but it is more Sci fi based. That's a fantastic show though. You're definitely right on your breakdown. I hope you still found the video enjoyable :)
One of my favorite things about Psych were the episode titles. A few of my favorites: "Game, Set... Muuurder" - The tennis episode. "And Down The Stretch Comes Murder" - The horse racing episode. "Poker? I Hardly Know Her" - The poker episode. "Spellingg Bee" "Cloudy... With a Chance of Murder" "Shawn (And Gus) of the Dead" "There Might Be Blood" "Talk Derby To Me" - The Roller Derby episode. "Any Given Friday Night at 10pm, 9pm Central" - The football episode. "Truer Lies" "Tuesday the 17th" - The Friday the 13th parody episode. "High Noon-ish" - The western-themed episode "The Devil's in the Details... and the Upstairs Bedroom" - The Exorcist-inspired episode. "Feet Don't Kill Me Now" "Chivalry Is Not Dead... But Someone Is" "Not Even Close... Encounters" "Dead Man's Curve Ball" - The baseball episode. "Autopsy Turvy" There are some more clever ones but those are my favorites.
I became hooked on this show in mid June. I have sadly come to the end of the tale. I look forward to some subtle antics from James Roday Rodriguez this fall as Gary Mendez in "AMLT". ♥️ After watching this I look forward to also watching Dulé Hill in "Suits".
I remember I finally got to watch this series probably a decade since it’s pilot episode aired and I LOVED it, I couldn’t believe I’ve overlooked this pristine show.
Dude! You keep doing shows and movies I love. I recently got into Psych and I am really enjoying it. If you like quirky procedural shows I recommend Pushing Daises. Another criminally underrated show.
Great minds think alike ;) Psych has been one of my all time favorites for a while. I was hoping on my revisit I would enjoy it as much, and I absolutely did. Definitely falls into the category of when you get older, you appreciate more and more jokes (especially 'mature' ones). Pushing Daisies is another great show that was heavily under appreciated.
I was nodding along to every word. Whenever I'm down and need a pick me up, or even when I just want to have a good laugh, I always, always, always go back to Psych. No other show comforts me or makes me feel the way that Psych does, and even after all these years, being able to rewatch the show and laugh along to all the same jokes is really amazing. I'm glad I discovered Psych cause seriously, my life would not be the same without it. The relationships between the characters and the humour of the show- all of it is just amazing and wonderful to experience time and time again.
So glad I stumbled onto this video, Psych is hands-down my favorite show. Can’t wait for the second movie later this year- I recently heard they’re not releasing it on regular TV, it’s going to be on NBC’s new streaming app they’re launching soon, that sucks!
I really love this show. It's so easy to binge a few episodes in a row because they are so light-hearted, well-written, and have a bazillion celebrity cameos!
Psych is my comfort food show. Grew up on it, and continue to come back to it over a decade later. I hope the writers, crew, and actors realize they created one of the best TV shows to date. Can't even count how many times it has given me a laugh or a feel-good cry when I needed it.
@@NaterTot early to mid 2000s, usa network was killing it with those shows. so much so that i remember they had cross promotions on all mentioned including psych and burn notice as well. kinda the tail end but i'll add royal pains i guess now, the only show i know from them is mr robot and that's about done too
My parents raised me well. I’ve grown up watching psych, monk, and burn notice. References from all three always make it into daily conversations in my household. These shows hold a special place in my heart and I still love watching them to this day.

Great video analysis on Psych! I'd say it is my favorite television show of all time! Can't wait for the second movie later this year! Have you ever checked out Community? I'd love to see an analysis of that show if you're a fan of that one as well too!
I love Psych. I'm so glad to be revisiting it. It's been so much fun. As for Community, it is ABSOLUTELY on my list. Shows like that are reasons I made the lost and found series. It's so much fun and creative in its gimmick. I'll be visiting it soon.
Absolutely. Thanks for subscribing to my channel. It's rapidly growing and I think a lot of people are going to like what I have in store for the future!
Is it? Edit: It is! And I saw that Lassiter will get a bigger role this time. I know he couldn't get a big role due to Tim Odmunson getting a stroke, but I am glad he's coming back, because Lassiter is by far my favorite character.
I came across this show one time on French television and I absolutely loved it!! Its always so entertaining, I always laugh at the same jokes and the Hitchcock episode is by far my favorite. Psych proved that it can be deep, well thought and genius!!! Its so underrated...
I found Psych this year and am addicted to it! It's perfect- mystery, bromance, character interaction, humor, 90's cultural tenderness. It's got it all.
Why am I like this? Gah 1:22 Sean hadn't solved any murders by the first episode, but he had phoned in a bunch of tips for the reward money. Carlton thought his information was too good so he suspected him of being a partner with a store owner who robbed his own store. Because Sean had phoned in the tip that lead to the store owners capture. Sean said he was psychic so he didn't have to run the risk of going to jail. He put on a good enough act of cold reading to convince everybody but Carlton and acting chief Karen that he was psychic. Karen offered him a consulting gig. But said if she could ever prove he wasn't psychic she'd charge him with fraud and interfering with a police investigation so he had to keep up the act, or risk going to jail.
Thanks for the correction. A minor mess up but I definitely appreciate the clarification. You'd think I'd know better with how many rewatches of the show, right?
This is such a good show. I’ve watched the entire series 3 times and bought all the dvds when they took it off Netflix. Planning on rewatching it again soon

Probably because the writers know what the show is (absurd comedy) and they don’t try to say it’s something else. Plus I love how creative they get for a police detective show and not take it so serious (like proposing near a crime scene lol)
Edit: forgot about the bromance. Absolutely favourite part of the show
My mom was an 80s kid/teen! I’ve been thinking about introducing her to Psych, I think she would appreciate all the references.
Psych kinda reminds me of Chuck, with it's goofyness, the two main characters and the love interest.
The intersect kind of reminds me of Shawn's " psychic powers" lol I never realized this 😂
Katherine Madden Yeah, true.
Yeah love both those shows but psych is still my fave
Psych is Sherlock for Americans.
Chuck is James Bond for nerdy Americans.
Lucifer is James Bond for suave Americans.
lol Love them all!
Psych and Chuck are my favourite TV shows
You're so right! This show is so underrated! I watch the entire season of this show and Monk at least twice every year. It's like comfort food or stress relief for me.
I'm glad I did it justice for you, Kenya. I hope you subscribe and continue to support. More great show reviews on the way!
You keep using that word... I don't think it means what you think it means.
@@williamdavenport4183 I've answered a few of these and demonstrated what it means. Thanks for the comment though!
@@NaterTot dude... it's a Princess Bride reference 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️ don't be the only estevez in a family of sheens....
@@williamdavenport4183 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 top notch comment back. Got a quality LOL out of me
This makes me so happy, I originally started watching psych while I was doing my chemo and the movie came out the day I finally became cancer free. It will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for showing others how awesome it is❤️
Hell yeah
I’ve loved psych ever since I was a kid. It was one of the first shows that my dad and I watched together and bonded over
Same, but with my mom! I bought the series boxset for her birthday.
My favorite show of all time. Re-watch constantly. It's my comfort show
Psych is the best!! I have watched every episode many, many times!
Same here! I cannot wait for the new movie
Well done . Psych is like coming home from a long trip . I can watch any episode and just feel happy
Absolutely. Perfect comfort TV show
Every few years I go back and rewatch this and Monk. Psych is definitely my favorite of the two though.
I'm right there with you. It still holds up after rewatches, decade later.
I watched both
I’m a total Psych-O!!(as are my five kids as well) watched from the pilot on, I own them all on DVD, I recruit people to watch what I call the best series you never knew existed!!! I agree 100% with your observation on how underrated not only Psych was but USA as well!! I liked and I’m sharing this to recruit more Psych-Os!! 🍍 🍍 🍍 ⬅️The only thing missing from your observations🤓😉
You're absolutely right. How did I forget about the Pineapples? Darn. Maybe, just maybe, a future revisit of the show will be needed ;)
One of my favorite shows of all time, bought the entire series on disc last year.
This was truly one of the best shows ever on television.
Agreed, David!
I cannot believe how accurate this is. Love love love Psych. This is the show to watch after a tough day:)
But... where is the obligatory Pineapple reference? Did I miss it? The show hides it so well sometimes.
Best show ever.
It's a testament to the strength of that show, that while I was taking my kids trick or treating, one of the houses had a psych pineapple carved pumpkin. Kinda sad that I recognized it, but people *still* love the show, even after it's been off the air for so long.
This video introduced me to my most favourite show. Thanks.
I love the comparison between Psych and Scooby Doo!
Thank you so much! I always get that feeling, especially during horror themed episodes.
Nater Tot yes! Especially the finale episode of season two with the mummy. Tuesday the 17th is by far my favorite horror themed episode though. Its got depth as a character episode for lassie, it’s scary for psych, plus it’s funny as usual.
“Gus, this is a pool skimmer!...” lol
made me think of the episode, in plain fright
"Gus, say zoinks!"
"I'm not saying zoinks"
"Then say jinkies!"
"Jinkies.."
"He and Guster think they're in a cartoon mystery show with a talking great dane and a psychedelically painted van."
"Scooby-Doo?"
"Is that why he keeps calling me Velma?"
😂
Bro..... this video legit made me tear up... I've been watching this show since it first aired on USA, and I have always said it is my FAVORITE show! Thanks for making this lmao
Katie. You're so welcome. The show means a lot to me as well. I hope you enjoy and hope you go binge some episodes for me. :)
You got a new sub just from the title. Psych is my number 2 of all time, second only to chuck.
Edit: Do Chuck please, if you can?
Not a bad skill to have ;) Hope you subscribe and stick around! :)
I have that talent, too. I credit mine to my mom reading me murder mysteries as a child. She would always stop before the ending and have me guess who did it.
This is one of my favorite shows. I’ve seen it 3 times all the way through and the theme song is the best
Agreed. I love the theme song, especially the Boys 2 Men version.
I love Psych so much. I used a line for my senior quote. It's tied for my favorite show with Avatar: the Last Airbender
What line? There's so many good ones!
the extra T is for extra Talent!

This DEFINITELY was the greatest procedural TV show EVER... never FELT like a procedural show
Love this show so much~ thank you for this!
Don’t forget psych-os that psych the movie 2 is coming out later this year!
im sorry did you just say psych the movie 2?
It's been bumped to April 2020. :( And apparently going to be on NBCs streaming service (which hopefully they will allow one to watch this free).
@@mollykapping9040 i hope to see it by the end of my fifth rewatch lol
Shawn and Gus had the coolest chemistry! And I’ve loved Corbin Bernsen from his days as Arnie on LA Law!
I LOVED "Monk," and I heard Psyche is similar in feel
It definitely is. Main character is much different though. Both are highly entertaining
Psych was a warm and fuzzy hug
thanking you for bringing to light one of the best shows on tv ever!
I hope I did it justice. Hope you stick around and keep supporting!
I love Psyche SO MUCH! Its a staple show for my family
This bromance is definitely the BEST! Love the show....wish it was still going. I'm they are making a second movie!
Second movie is done! It comes out next month!
I started watching this show back when I was in middle school, and still regularly watch it to this day. Me and my whole family enjoy it so much. It really has been a staple in growing up for me.
I'm right there with you.
Also like X Files it was mostly filmed in British Columbia while pretending to be somewhere no one could mistake for BC.
I JUST rewatched this entire show the last few weeks. THEN I found out the SECOND movie is coming out next month...
Yes please.
My exclusive review will be available July 1st. Please come back and check it out!
I am a psycho and literally everyone I’ve shown this show to has fallen in love with it too. I have all 8 seasons and the musical on dvd lol
One of my favorite things about Psych were the episode titles. A few of my favorites:
"Game, Set... Muuurder" - The tennis episode.
"And Down The Stretch Comes Murder" - The horse racing episode.
"Poker? I Hardly Know Her" - The poker episode.
"Spellingg Bee"
"Cloudy... With a Chance of Murder"
"Shawn (And Gus) of the Dead"
"There Might Be Blood"
"Talk Derby To Me" - The Roller Derby episode.
"Any Given Friday Night at 10pm, 9pm Central" - The football episode.
"Truer Lies"
"Tuesday the 17th" - The Friday the 13th parody episode.
"High Noon-ish" - The western-themed episode
"The Devil's in the Details... and the Upstairs Bedroom" - The Exorcist-inspired episode.
"Feet Don't Kill Me Now"
"Chivalry Is Not Dead... But Someone Is"
"Not Even Close... Encounters"
"Dead Man's Curve Ball" - The baseball episode.
"Autopsy Turvy"
There are some more clever ones but those are my favorites.
I became hooked on this show in mid June. I have sadly come to the end of the tale. I look forward to some subtle antics from James Roday Rodriguez this fall as Gary Mendez in "AMLT". ♥️ After watching this I look forward to also watching Dulé Hill in "Suits".
They have three movies if you didnt know :)
@@KP-vc1tz I will have to add it to the growing list. ☺️
The TV programming executive who cancelled Pushing Daisies needs to be waterboarded. Same goes for whoever cancelled My Name Is Earl.
I’ve been watching it since I was a kid, top tier show x d
Same here! I definitely agree :)
Psych-O here! I watch it almost every day! Can't wait for the next movie!!
Ill never forget that one commercial which was like: “Psych, it’s a nature program!”
I really love this show. It's so easy to binge a few episodes in a row because they are so light-hearted, well-written, and have a bazillion celebrity cameos!
YES FINNALY SOME INTELLIGENCE ON THIS PLANET

Thank you so much! :)
I'm glad it was successful enough to get 8 seasons. A hidden gem I'll have to check out.
Yes yes!! This is such a good show and ive been watching for 4 years. It's a blast and a half trying to find the pineapples every episode
Psych is my comfort food show. Grew up on it, and continue to come back to it over a decade later. I hope the writers, crew, and actors realize they created one of the best TV shows to date. Can't even count how many times it has given me a laugh or a feel-good cry when I needed it.
This was a great show too. I liked the witty humor.
Do you recall the show Covert Affairs? Would be a good idea for *lost and found*
Covert Affairs is on my list of shows to do for sure! So is White Collar and Suits. Both shows that are criminally overlooked in my opinion.
@@NaterTot white collar was awesome. The show Monk had its moments too.. I'm getting nostalgic. Lol.
@@NaterTot early to mid 2000s, usa network was killing it with those shows.
so much so that i remember they had cross promotions on all mentioned including psych and burn notice as well. kinda the tail end but i'll add royal pains i guess
now, the only show i know from them is mr robot and that's about done too
@@bakedmomo5693 it's unfortunate. They had such a great lineup. I miss those days
My parents raised me well. I’ve grown up watching psych, monk, and burn notice. References from all three always make it into daily conversations in my household. These shows hold a special place in my heart and I still love watching them to this day.
My favorite Gus name is “Gus T T Showbiz (the extra T is for extra Talent)”
I watched Psych for the first time as a junior in high school. I’m 23 now and it’s still my favorite show. I’ve lost track how many time i’ve watched it. My go to comfort show.
MFW I watched this show while it was still airing. Glad it's getting some love :'^)
As did I! It was a show I tuned in every night to watch. Ya know, those good ol' days!

@@NaterTot Sweet! Glad to hear! Look forward to it!
Absolutely. Thanks for subscribing to my channel. It's rapidly growing and I think a lot of people are going to like what I have in store for the future!
I’ve been rewatching psych during quarantine. One of my favorite shows. Definitely deserved more mainstream love. It’s a great one.
Second movie is coming out this year too!
Is it?
Edit: It is! And I saw that Lassiter will get a bigger role this time. I know he couldn't get a big role due to Tim Odmunson getting a stroke, but I am glad he's coming back, because Lassiter is by far my favorite character.
I’ve grown up watching this show. I still go back and rewatch episodes because they are just so easy to get into!
You and me both. I hope my review did it justice and you stick around to support me! :)
Now I want tomato soup and grilled cheese... And a Psych rewatch.
You're welcome :)
I came across this show one time on French television and I absolutely loved it!! Its always so entertaining, I always laugh at the same jokes and the Hitchcock episode is by far my favorite. Psych proved that it can be deep, well thought and genius!!! Its so underrated...
I freaking loved this so. Gus and Sean's relationship is everything. Especially when they danced. I binged watched Psych and Monk.
I'm glad I did it justice for you :)
Sean Spencer is a football player. I think you meant Shawn...
I found Psych this year and am addicted to it! It's perfect- mystery, bromance, character interaction, humor, 90's cultural tenderness. It's got it all.
Can you do limitless the tv show not the movie, also psych and white collar were great
All those are on the list. Subscribe, keep supporting and you will see! :)
You hit the nail on the head with "Comfort Show!" This was one I re-watched after my mom passed away. Def a great show!
*Shawn
@Noah *Shawn. It's spelled Shawn lol. If you don't believe me google it

This is the best description of the show. It’s so true that they become your friends as you watch each episode.
I really appreciate the content! I did my best to honor the show for all my viewers and those joining! I hope you stick around and watch my other content! :)
PSYCH is literally my favorite show. I have seen every episode 20 times and it NEVER gets old!
