they will have to trade tatum and brown for the homegrown new england players: cooper flagg and aj dybantsa who have indicated the celtics are their childhood dream team.
JoJo was my favorite. Then Cowens. Then Havelcheck. Great team. It was a shame how they kept JoJo out of the hall of fame for so long. Rest in peace Jo Jo.
You sure it was Red? I do recall Charlie had that reputation. But when he got to Boston he really buckled down on D and accepted a supporting role. That said, Red definitely shouldn't have dealt Westphal who was coming into his prime and drove Phoenix to their first finals, upsetting the Champion Warriors in the West.
Not a Celtic fan but for me it's very ironic that my 1st ever game i remember watching on TV was game 1 of the 1977 Eastern Conf. semi-finals between Boston and Philadelphia and i also saw the Celtics last playoff game in the 70's, a game 7 loss to the Sixers.
i still remember my parents letting me stay up late to watch the triple overtime game. If mom knew it would go so late prior to game she wouldnt have let me begin watching.
First, I don't think they should give out the ECF MVP at the end of the series like that. For rival teammates it can cause jealousy when they don't need it which might have happened in 2022. Second, it's more of a playing down to the competition thing for Tatum than a lack of killer instinct. He's come up big in do or die games. Third, the Celtics are lucky Porzingis looks to be ready to go. Dallas is dangerous.

Havlicek said the 60s and 80s celtic champions were much better than his 74 and 76 teams ...hondo also said he could not tell who was better between the russell and bird Celtics....I saw that in a jan, 1985 laker celtic gm interview
RIP The Legendary Hondo John Havlicek my favorite Celtic of all-time NBA Finals MVP in 1974

Talk injuries , In 74" if Lucius Allen doesn't hurt he's knee the Bucks win it!!

Come on, every team was playing with house money other then Boston. 🙄
I seem to remember Charley Scott described by no less than Red Auerbach as "your basic score 25 lose by 13" player." Maybe my memory is off.

Are the current Celtics passive? Arrogant? Don't underestimate the Mavericks!
