Interview with Aamir Khan: How does the movie ‘Dangal’ make a box office myth in China

Bollywood movie "Dangal" is proving to be this summer's hit at the Chinese box office, beating the much-hyped "Guardians of the Galaxy" with its quality and profound message. Lead actor Aamir Khan has become a well-known face across the country. But how exactly did this masterpiece make it to the screen and why did Khan decide to challenge Indian society with this film? CGTN’s Dialogue spoke to the Bollywood superstar to find out.
Khan said the simple charm of the story was his motivation to make the movie: A man who never had the chance to fulfill his dreams of becoming a wrestling champion decided to pin all his hopes on his son. However, the fact that he had four daughters pushed him to the edge of desperation. However, he saw a chance to smash national stereotypes and promote his daughters as wrestling stars instead, something which was simply not tolerated in Indian society. After lots of hard work and determination, his daughters eventually made the nation proud and gave their their father the opportunity to finally accomplish his dream.
