Great tests man. FYI... about the batteries. The "new" (blk22) battery only provides longer run times for the GH5, GH5S, GH5ii. The smaller 4-pins on top make NO actual contact inside the battery housing. Not sure but I think the smaller 4-pins only matters for the S5 and GH6. However, the "old" (blk19) batteries can actually be charged inside the GH5ii. Also, if you place either battery in the NEW charger while it's unplugged, the led's will light up telling you the % of life left.
Very valuable information my friend about GH5II, this will help me a lot. Just want to confirm, i am user of Lumix GH3/4/5 since ages & have tons of BLF19 batterys & NPF batterys which i use for GH5 with dummy, so are you sure all these battery BLF & NPF battery will work with New model of Lumix, including Full frame. I am planning to buy Lumix S5 & i guess GH5II & S5 batterys are same & it should work with older batterys. Waiting for reply, thanks.
I am not sure the old GH5 batteries work on the full frame cameras. I don't own any Lumix full frame to test this. I can only confirm that the GH5 batteries work on the GH5 II. And even though they work, the older batteries won't last as long as the new battery on the GH5 II, so eventually if you get the GH5 II you'll just want to buy the newer batteries or continue using the dummy battery solution.
What were your contrast and saturation settings, I'm really concerned that the mk2 won't match my mk1, I just bought a 2nd body for my live streaming setup where I switch between 2 cameras. I need them in the same ball park. I hope I didn't make a bad decision going with the newer one.
My contrast and saturation settings on both cameras were identical. When I shot V-Log-L, I slapped Panasonic's LUT on it and did nothing else. The differences in Picture Profiles is one of the reasons why they look different. In my opinion, the GH5 looked better overall. For a multi-cam shoot, I would stick with the same camera model. Mixing the GH5 with the GH5 II will give you slightly different colors. Most people wouldn't notice, but I'm sure it'll bug the heck out of you.
Dynamic range and color science looks noticeable better on GH5 Mark II. Maybe the shadow tint wasn't as desirable on that one shot, but in general it looks more mature. I heard it is supposed to match the S-series so that's probably why.
Too bad color doesnt match really well! Im in the situation that i dont like the color match of my gh5 and g9 and looking to trade my g9 to another gh5 to match perfectly...was looking at your vid to see if i should take a gh5 ii but..clearly im better to trade for another gh5 if color match is my primary concern. Mostly shooting wedding film in natural profile. I find the G9 not matchin really well my gh5, the g9 has a more "yellowish brown" tone vs my gh5 more of a natural pinky tone for skin tone.
AT Your Video ""6.45"" The Old Mk 1 GH5 Was Way better image in Both Details & in Focus,..An Unmistakable Difference to the Better hands DOWN ..That SAID..Are You Extra Sure there wasn't Something in Setting You were Forgetting?

Thanks for the info!
The colors look more vibrant on the gh5 2 which I like so much better because not a lot of color grading or editing is needed

GH5 is looking better to me in these clips

Yeah, I agree with you. This is a very small sample. The GH5 II has better quality.
@@VideoGizmology Not many videos have been comparing both cameras directly, appreciate you posting this
the shadow tint looked like a flare, what may be wrong there?
I love the GH5 II, and much prefer it to the GH5.
According to this shot, the old gh5 has much nicer colors than the newer one
Can you use Gh4 lens on the Gh5?
Yes
Cool video 👍🏻

I was looking for the same but now I can't find a new GH5 to buy, only the GH5ll or GH5s
Gh5 $450 used. Gh5 ii $1200 on ebay.
Hardly a difference.
Yeah, I agree. Not much of a difference between the GH5 and GH5 II.
