Look this is an expensive scanner at$350. I programmed and it's has been about to pick up all the way to Savanah GA. I live in Summerville SC. There is no perfect scanner because the minute you buy a scanner expensive or cheap that's when upgrades to a newer communication system happens. If it's working for you then go with it. The next best thing usually ends up being a waste of money. Within 2 years.
Not exactly true. There is still a lot of analog stuff in use by locals that shows no sign of going away anytime soon. But I "cheated" by using my SDRPLAY to log all active frequencies it could hear in the 150-175 and 450-480 MHz bands, so I have channels for my home county and the six surrounding counties.

Not saying the system is obsolete for what is was designed for I was referring to things like encryption or like phase 1 and now it's phase 2 and it's been said that possibly phase 3. For me my whistler does fine in P25 but most of the p25 is phase 2. The whistler 1065 is phase 1.
@@juanpaulr The best thing is that the number of analog systems vastly outnumbers the digital systems in southwest Pennsylvania. While most of Allegheny County is on UHF, most of the surrounding counties are on VHF high band. I've had to get a FM notch filter to remove blanking from a FM station.
