- Great day in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Located on the Mekong River the city has 950,000 inhabitants. Laos opened on May 2022 and it is nice to travel to NOW.
This was the final day of our Laos Trip. Wanted to show the temples, monuments and nice nightlife spots. Highlights are the Patuxay Monument and That Luang Vientiane.
For a nice sunset you can check the Tipsy Elephant and you can try a good Belgian Beer at Chokdee Cafe.

Special Message: HOW COME I DIDN'T SEE YOU THAT TIME
In all my working life visiting south east Asia I’ve never been to Laos,my work colleagues Mia used to visit she used to say it was a mix of Thai and Khmer I can see that now,,,
Stunning drone shots and a short and well filmed and narrated view of the Laos capital
Great video! Thanks 🙏 I suggest you show some things a little longer. For example the sign at the temple and photo of the temple in 2011
Excellent videos so much better than some travellers with their fast moving bling!! You've put Laos on my wishlist!
Nice video again jereon,,, peace and happiness
Welcome to Laos brother
Hi..good job❤ thank you for very nice video..Laos is my country..I love it
glad to see Laos is catching up with the more developed Thailand and Vietnam in such quick time.. i hope they continue to restore all their Temples and monuments.. its simply stunning.. worth all that journey just to see it.. and it will be even easier to go there not too long from now as the modern infrastructure continues to take shape..
I'm glad to see Laos is making the effort to develop their country. That's why I donate money to schools so the children will have school supplies and food for good nutrition. It's the right thing to do to help the less fortunate country like Laos.
@@OS253 Really? That really really REALLY helps our country so tysm :D
Very well done video with a lot of inspirations to visit 🇱🇦 😊✌🏼👍🏼🙏
Hi!🤚are you still in Lao. Today to 8th. Lao people will celebrate the phra that luang festival. I hope you will participate and enjoy our fest. ✌️👍
Thank you for the invitation. We are already back in Thailand. Here we have the loy Kratong Festival :-)
Great video

Great vid , worth a visit for sure
Lovely place, plenty big food markets, people are very friendly, Tuc Tuc drivers are very good, the river front is vibrant, a bit of nice old, colonial architecture , many nice temples.
Una gozada de vídeo, espectaculares tomas aéreas y gran calidad. Gracias por no hablar deprisa, así consigo entender bastante con mi mal inglés. Gran trabajo.👏👏👏👏
My next trip
Very good
Hi Jeroen, i've travelled through Laos also and like in Thailand these people are the most friendly on earth. It still is under development
We’re love your videos ! Thanks 🙏
Thanks for sharing. Did you have any problem flying the drone at the Patuxay Monument?
This took me back to about 1986. I visited my grand parents from my mothers side in Vientianne. I don't remember much as I was 6 yrs old. But I do remember my dad taking me to Pha That Luang. Then it was all Sand on the ground around, no grass and you just walked in. I remember asking my dad why we couldn't go inside the stupa and I imagined it to be filled with a treasure. One day, I will take my kids to see their grandmas home country. Thanks for the ride!
Wasn't until a couple of days ago I thought of visiting Vientiane during one of three nights I booked in Udon. Is a day trip feasible ? I always book two nights in Bangkok upon arrival as I had more than one occasion my checked luggage didn't arrive. If alls well, I can add a day as this city looks worthy of a overnight.
This is a great video. I like it more when you added the wonderful history to it. Thanks so much.
Thank you for sharing this video. You're very lovely to watch. Though I need to ask
What bag did you use for this trip?
Have you tried using a duffle bag for your travel? I recommend using the Bento Bag from Nomad Lane.
I've been using this bag for months now and it is such a hack.
I tried using packing cubes and they are amazing but now I switched to a duffle bag.
Tried Nomad Lane's Bento bag and it's a good choice.
I don't mind paying a little bit more to see the sights as long as the price is reasonable and a dollar and a half is super reasonable, thanks for showing us around Vientiane, was wondering about that place
Good luck Laooooooos ❤🇱🇦
Absolutely outstanding job! Thank you so so much for sharing. I'll now look back to some of your other videos from Laos, our very favorite SE Asian country. We miss it so much!
Very good 👍👍👍 I like your movie
I completely agree with what you say about the dual pricing, thank you for addressing it! I’ve seen so many videos where foreigners complain, including the RUclips creators. Give me a break! It’s only a few dollars to us, but a lot of money to the locals. Well done, sir!
Wow, highrise buildings, renovated temples, no communist symbols. Looks very different from when I was there in 2010!
On dual pricing, I don't mind paying extra. But 500% is quite the difference! Would be nice if they were more honest about it or say the locals are getting a discount. Or ask the average price calcutaled by the number or local visitors and tourists. So if 80% are locals (5,000 Kip) and 20% are tourists (30,000 Kip), the average price for everybody would be 10,000 Kip.
Imagine the Eiffel Tower for example asking €10 from locals and €50 from foreigners. It would be an international scandal and 10,000s of tourists would boycot the tower!
I just want to offer some perspectives;
Big difference is the wages between locals and tourists. An average Laotian is making around $200 USD/month while an average tourist who flies to S.E.A is making somewhere between 10-20X that.
Also the price for tourists is 30 000 Kips ($1.77 USD) while price to access the Eiffel Tower is from 10.70-26.80 EUR ($10.57-26.47 USD). As you can see, pricing in Laos and most ASEAN countries are very reasonable for foreign tourists.
Thank you for a very informative video, with great drone footage! Can you tell me what, if any, vaccine/ PCR/ATK requirements there were for you to enter at this time.
This is my home, I live there it's so beautiful🙏you want party caming Sixpack 🎉😘

I have many friends from Savannakhet
All I want to know is how do we purchase one of your 'Global Travel Mate' t-shirts? 😇
I have never agreed with dual pricing and it used to be common in Europe especially Spain. When people enter a museum in the UK it is free and I would certainly be annoyed if a non UK citizen was charged.
Awesome!!! Now, I know where to visit when I go to Laos...???
I see you know the history of Laos and thx for the video I will visit the motherland next year
Great vlog series! I think I will follow your trail, but I'm thinking of crossing the border via land and checking out Udon Thani as I have not been to Isan yet. I"ll have to do my own research on that! Thanks
Great Idea. From Udon Thani it is easy to find transport and cross the border :-)

Hello Jeroen! Thank you for all the videos!
They have been very helpful to us. I have a question: do you recommend living in Vientiane with children?
Thanks again!
Hi Alca, I am afraid that I do not know enough about Vientiane to make a recommendation. It seems to be a safe city to live in, but I have been there only a few times, and always in the same touristic areas. The people in Laos in general are very nice.
@@globaltravelmate many thanks for your answer! I have the same perception after reading and watching videos about the city. But I think worth to keep checking deeply. Thank you again! I appreciate it!
I totally agree with you about the dual pricing. A lot of travelers get so angry about it. I think Thailand and Laos can word it better though. Instead of Lao: free, Foreigner: xxx, it should be something like: Admission: xxx, Locals: free.

Did you get a drone license/registration, or did you just fly anyway?
I have the necisarry paperwork. Thank you for your concern.
@@globaltravelmate ah ok. I am in Vientiane at the moment and decided not to bother with another registration.

Is it safe to visit Vientiane now? The internet says there is some civil unrest…?
Just returned from laos but the Chinese and Vietnamese are taking over .
Sad Laos is a so chinese now !!!
Glad the Thais got their emerald Buddha back, it's surprising that Laos was strong enough to take it in the first place.
The emerald buddha originated in Chiangmai kingdom which was an independent kingdom and was not incorporated into the Siamese (Central Thai) kingdom until the latter part of 19th century. The statue came to the Lao kingdom in the middle of 16th century because the king of Lanxang (Lao kingdom) also became the king of Lanna (Chiangmai) as his mother was the princess of Lanna.
Thank you for the explination :-)
@@thetiktokman who said that it is not in Bangkok? Nathaniel only said he is glad the Thais got it back.
that's how french built the eiffel tower from Thatluang stupa
