Hi folks, NatNomad here. An ex-Buddhist monk from Laos with a big dream of seeing the world. Throughout my time for over 10 years being a monk I kept asking myself this one question "What life is like out there beyond the monastery?" And because of this question alone made me take a big step in 2014 when I finally say goodbye to my wonderful monastic life.
And now I'm doing what I've always wanted to do. Though I am not quite sure if I can say that I'm living my dream but you know what I'm loving my new adventure.
Please make sure to stick with me so we can explore new exotic places together.
Let the adventures begin!
Thanks so much for your support.
Thank you. There's nothing quite like listening to an English-speaking Lao talk about the cities of Laos
Thank you, big smile here🙏😊
Agreed 👍
Great history lesson about the capital Vientiane. Thanks
You're welcome. Thank for watching 🙂🙏
I really think Vientiane does not get the credit it deserves.
It may not have the whistles of so many capital cities but I find it quaint, charming and very laidback
To me, it is a good place to ease yourself in when visiting Laos for the first time.
I come from Hanoi, Vietnam and I must say Vientiane has more amazing beauty than Bangkok, Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh city. Laos has many original, natural beauties that are great for tourism.
It has the charm, only mostly people didn't give Vientiane enough time to explore. According to many people who live there. They said they didn't like it at first. They grew to love it later on🙂
1 of my favorite moments was basically sitting on the river bank watching the sunset it was so-so beautiful I also love the night market And the dance dancing that the people gather on The main square and dance together.....I also remember that very beautiful Buddhist temple and monument it was incredible to go and to see I really enjoyed the capital
Yes, that area by the Mekong river is always nice, especially in the evening. Nice sunset view
Love Vientiane and Laos from Myanmar ❤
Vientiane really looks like Yangon but less crowded and calmer. I feel like home and would love to visit, even live there.
And thanks for showing around city!
ps, you look cute too 🫠
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Vientiane is not too bad after all.
I hope you will come visit someday.
There's weekly direct flights from Yangon to Vientiane on Tuesdays and Thursdays, operated by Myanmar International Airlines 🙂
Good video of Vientiane. I enjoy visiting the city for a few days. As you mentioned, sunset along the Mekong is beautiful. It is a nice change from hectic Bangkok. Thanks for sharing the city as a local.
Yes, compared to Bangkok, Vientiane is still a chill and laid back city
❤❤❤
I think Laos seriously need more population. 236,800 km is massive for just 7.5M people.
With a lot of flowing workforce since the past few years, it doesn't help wither.
So nice 👍 video! Thanks 🙏 Nat !
I haven't been back to visit my hometown in Laos for almost 10 years, thanks to your great video clips.🙏😇
Wow that's a very long time. I hope you'll come visit soon. Thanks for watching the video 😊
Very Appreciative you providing a rich history of each places you’ve visited. Great info 👍
Thank you. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour😊🙂
Nat, watching this really reminded of Yangon. This area really looks like some of their residential area of the city outside the busy city centre.
I agree, some parts of Vientiane do look like Yangon. I hope to go back someday
As a Half Lao it's better that vientiane shall not develop too fast because it's still not invaded by tourists, my parents told me that the Phra keo belonged to Lao and after I did research many years after it belonged to Lan Na realm it was independent from sukhothai but as a buddhist it doesn't mind where it is, we can pray everywhere without any statue
Vientiane is slowly developing, it has changed since the year 2000 but not a lot. You still feel the same vibe as before. Now it is more crowded.
As for the statue, like you said, it doesn't matter where it ends up now, as long as it is still in the Buddhist country. I'd be very disappointed if it ended up in the museum somewhere in the western countries😉
Thanks for the history lessons Nat.
My pleasure
Vientiane looks like a great city to spend a few days. It's interesting to see the mix of old and modern buildings and conveniences. For sure all the fancy hotels and restaurants will attract a lot of tourists. Nat, I hope you have a safe trip to Bangkok. Can't wait to see what adventures await you.😊
Thank you for always following me and my adventure. Vientiane is a big city for Lao standard but still chill and laid back. It has changed so much for the last 10 years.
very nice tour of the city. thank you
My pleasure. Thank you for watching 😊🙏
hard rock cafe bar was awesome ,we have good 👍 time.
I was there last year in Vientiane for 2 weeks.. have so much fun party 🎉 day and night with friends. miss good 👍 Lao food 🍱. next year going back to Laos 🇱🇦 again can’t wait.
Sounds wild😜.
I'm glad you had a good time. After all Vientiane offers the best nightlife scene in Laos.
great 👍 video ❤❤❤
Hi Nat, I hope you're doing well.
I saw from another vlogger that not many people use the Mall as they prefer the traditional markets.
Thanks as always for the video it was very helpful 😉
Totally true because the traditional market is more chill and cheaper.
For example the short i bought is only 220,000 as i asked at the stall by the night market. But i paid 320,000 in the mall. Which again, i understand because the rent is high inside
Cool... ❤👍👍👍🙏
I enjoyed the city....There is a local English/French bookstore there that had many books on Laos and it's culture and history and the monks et cetera I actually bought a book there and that was my fondest memory
I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the city. I bet the bookstore you are talking about is the language exchanging place where foreigners can meet with local students to help them practice their English?
Good morning, nice video, I miss Laos especially Vientiane, I was there last time in 2000, hoping to return someday!
Thank you. I hope you come visit Laos again soon
Great info.
Kop jai

Vientiane changed so much probably good for Laos as country.
Yes, it becomes a melting pot in the country
Going to Vientiane next month trying to decide if I should just do a day there and head to VV for like two days. Idk what to do
If you have time, I'd recommend spending a day there.
Never again, once was enough.

it's been a long time since I was there last time. beautiful country
vip bus to bkk 900 baht is crazy. it cost only 500 baht to Udon Thani from bkk. it does not make any sense
Yes, quite expensive. I took the train from Nong Khai instead. Costs only 211 Baht
Regarding your previous video. Does Laos or Thailand have any vipsassana centers you can recommend? Preferably something that is easy for non local speakers?
Laos don't provide seasonal vipadsana. Only in Thailand where they have this Vipadsana retreat in the north like Chaingrai
@@natnomad Ah thanx. Maybe you could set one up then ;).
