The Royal Enfield Hunter 350: Small Bike, Mighty Soul

- Whilst we were in Scotland back in July 23, Paul let me have a ride on his Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and from that point I knew I needed one of these marvellous bikes in my collection.
When I rode Paul's Hunter I was immediately struck by what a charming bike it is to ride. I soon discovered that it was similar in terms of power to my Royal Enfield Scram 411 but there was just something about it that made me want to own one! Having spent Easter Bank Holiday over in Wales on the Scram I decided that it would be ideal if I had a bike over there available to ride through the summer months, specifically take it over in the spring and bring it home in the autumn. With this in mind it was time to implement my strategy. So I made the decision to part exchange my Royal Enfield Interceptor for a brand new Hunter 350 Rebel edition in black and Silver. The problem I'm now facing due to loving the Hunter so much is which bike will be summering in Wales, the Hunter or the Scram? Decisions decisions!

Absolutely beautiful bike and superb introduction to your acquisition, Dave. If I had room I'd get that colour to join my others - looks magnificent. My perfect motorcycle and I'm sure you're really going to enjoy yours.
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on how you find the tyres running over difficult road surfaces at their standard pressures.

Thanks Peter, your relaxing ride videos and my having a ride of Paul’s when we were in Skye made a Hunter a must have for me. It’s a wonderful bike and I’m so pleased to now own one. It’s booked in for first service next week and I’ve already made quite a few mods which you will see in forthcoming videos. @@MerciaMoto well I think my best option is to start collecting the fuel tanks and swap them around as I don't do the lottery 😂😂

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment and for the kind wishes. It really is a marvellous bike, I've clocked up about 730 miles on the Hunter now so well on the way to getting it fully run in, aiming to have the run in miles done by end of June latest.
@@MerciaMoto Mine is thoroughly run in now, it goes really well, it has plenty of power going up the hills by keeping it in a low gear. I checked with the Enfield dealership that I cannot damage the engine, no was the answer. The road holding on the supplied tyres is excellent. This bike IMHO was good value for money and easy to ride in-between busy traffic.
@@quentinbush I think they are excellent value for money and for me it really feels like old school motorcycling where you have to use your riding skills to squeeze the performance out of the bike.
Hello Mercia Moto, I'm a new subscriber on the recommendation of Lanes Explorer. I'm also a very happy Hunter owner and I look forward to your adventures. I agree that careful running in is a must and my bike really loosened up at 2K miles. The only mod I've made is Hitchcocks adjustable levers, much more comfortable, especially the clutch. Enjoyed the video. I have the same bike, same colour on just about 1000 miles. It's got progressively better, and the DNA air filter was a worthwhile upgrade. I particularly like the combination of the low down torque and it's willingness to get up and go. Enjoy it.

i know how you feel mate , love my hunter 350 as my second bike and number one is my interceptor 650 , sometimes i stand in front of them and it s very hard to make the decision what bike i shall take for a ride !

Looks like you're a customer of QB (No plate's a giveaway!😂). I have the Meteor 350 and Classic 350. The Meteor maybe coming up for changing shortly and I do love the look of the HNTR. One thing I can't get right in my head though is how small the HNTR feels. I'm a 6 footer with a 32" inside leg. I have had a couple of demos on QBs demonstrator and got on well with it and value for money is Unquestionable, it looks very smart, build quality is top notch, what's not to like- other than the physical size snd perhaps comfort levels on a long distance journey.
I can ride my Meteor 350 and Classic 350 all day and cover huge distances without issue. Any talll owners of the HNTR care to comment. I'm a big Royal Enfield fan and particularly the J series engine and platform. Look forward to your future updates.🙂👍
Hi Jonathan, thanks for watching and commenting on the video. You're very observant, 😁yes I bought the Hunter from QB, my third bike from them in less than 2 years. My friend Paul who you will see on the channel bought his hunter before me. I mentioned to him earlier that you had left a comment and I had yet to respond and he says, he's 6ft2 has trouble with his hip and suffers knee pain and he doesn't have any issues with the Hunter, in fact he had tried the meteor and classic 350 and found them cramped in comparison. This is coming from Paul who's a big bike rider having ridden a Yamaha MT01, Kawasaki W800 and he currently has a Suzuki VStrom 1050 and BMWR9T Scrambler alongside his Hunter. He has fitted a Hitchcocks Signature Bench seat but advises that it doesn't really make a difference. Distance wise, we did 4 days in Scotland back in July riding all day from 8:30 in the morning until 5ish in the evening and he didn't have any comfort issues, although we didn't ride up there, we put the bikes in his van, cheating I know. 😂Hope this bit of first hand experience is of use and thanks again for watching. 👍🏻
Morning Dave, congratulations 🎉 on the Hunter, I enjoyed my short demo ride on one, and will hopefully take it out for a longer spin once it has been run in. Good plan to have a “Barmouth Bike”, as you know from my vids, there are some cracking, little known lanes around there, just waiting to be discovered 😊

Congratulations on the new entry in your stable, it's not a bike I'd have ever guessed you'd get but with wanting to leave one in Wales it makes perfect sense. As for a name I think it should be Huey, since the badges on its side panels have lawfully been made to loose the U&E 😟😂 I hope you enjoy many happy miles on it 👍😀 I'm puzzled now, do you still have one to replace to get back up to four ? Thanks mate, good name suggestion however he now has a name which will be revealed in a forthcoming video 😀Yeah it's the perfect bike for the plans I have for it, excited already for next spring arriving. I still have just the 4, I traded my Interceptor in for the Hunter 👍
Nice one. Awaiting delivery of mine, also in Rebel Black. It will be my commuter/fun bike along Kawasaki Versys 1k. I managed to source out the sump guard in silver, end bar mirrors, fly screen and signature bench seat - all from India at the fraction of the UK dealers price.

Congrats on the new bike, cracking. It would be good to ride one and compare to my Classic 350 but our dealer went bust so it wont happen. I love the Classic and if the Hunter is even half as good then it will be a brilliant bike.

Morning Alex, just chiming in. Having taken the Hunter out on demo, I can say, that even not run in, the Hunter definitely felt peppier, and more nimble in the handling department.

Really got my heart set on a Scram for a winter bike but l do love the look of those Hunters, thing is l sometimes take a pillion so the Scram will probably be the better choice

Another Rebel black here and I love it. What tires are those? The standard Ceat ones on mine are not very confidence instilling.

Hello and thanks for watching and commenting, I can fully flat foot the Hunter, but wasn’t able to on the Interceptor. It is a much more comfortable bike to ride for those of us with shorter legs 👍🏻
