I was thinking the same thing. I think the QC is just not very good. I had a bum unit because my first main mic’s USBc port was crazy loose. My second set is great.
Mine work perfectly with and without lav mics. The audio is excellent and there’s no interference. Everyone should know that using a screw on lav mic can potentially cause a miss seating issues. The only problem I’ve had was missing how to switch out of Bluetooth mode after syncing with a phone. You have to hold down the record button on the transmitter for three seconds to change back to syncing with the standard DJI receiver. This is easy to miss as it’s only mentioned once in the instructions.
You need a different voltage for rode wireless pro and i assume the DJI mic 2. Not sure if there are other version of of Sanken COS-11D for different system, but if you look at the DPA 4060, you need different voltage version for these new kind of wireless system.
Did you try separating the mics a bit further. It sounded like they were wiping each other out. Also as mentioned camera WiFi absolutely could and would have an impact. Mic 2 uses 2.4Ghz like many other systems including most WiFi on cameras. It’s very possible it would interfere and while this is less than ideal it’s also not particularly surprising.
A lot depends on the shielding of the external mics as they act like a big antenna, and if the shield is not properly grounded through the screw mechanism, they will totally mess up the recorder if its not designed for un-shielded external mics.
My DJI Mic V2, which came with the P3, has worked without issue. The V2 Kit is new to me, so I can't say one way or the other. I have two Rode lav mics, but since I started using the DJI V1 kit, I haven't used any lav mic as I prefer the transmitter without lav. Bottom line, my DJI mics are working flawlessly, and I would highly recommend them. The plus is direct single transmitter connection to MacBook, iPhone, Osmo P3 and Action 4 without receiver. P3 will allow 2 receiver connection without receiver.
I have the same crap going on with some of my lav mics too with the DJI Mic 2, the Rode Lav+ won't work at all, and I have had some odd break-ups on my camera audio recordings.
@@thournheng731 It works with the Mic 1 and all the rest of my mic systems, but yes, I think DJI got rid of TRRS on the Mic 2. I can basically connect my Rode Lav and the DJI Lav to it, nothing else.
That's so strange considering the dji mic 2 has enough 'power' (idk which specific parameter matters here) to drive a shure sm7b with no cloud lifter / amplifier. I don't understand how it could drive a super power hungry mic like shure sm7b but not a tiny lav.@@GrenlandUnderVann
Yeah Curtis said the same thing, he had major issues with the audio. It’s not looking good at the moment, not sure if that can be fixed with a simple firmware update.
When a new”something “is released and I see some RUclipsrs posting at the same time, I just hit unsubscribe and problem solved. Thank you for your honesty ❤
That’s actually a long time known problem of this ME-2-II Lav. Mics. Because of the nut they don’t work in any port. Some work others don’t, what works today doesn’t next time. It's because the mic is designed to be bolted and only then it is plugged in all the way. Thats why I removed the nut with a dremel on my ME-2-II. This is nothing new and was the same for me on the older wirless go and go ii sets.
I understand that it has the screw that doesn't work with some units. But why does it work with the last DJI Mic system, and why does it work with half of the new system? And the second issue has nothing to do with the lav.
@@FStoppers I couldn’t explain your second problem but didn’t had it either. Also did a review of this and any every time I used it with receiver audio to camera it worked fine. About the screw, it depends on the length of the internal contacts inside the port. Maybe they changed a little bit from Mic 1 to Mic 2 or even from unit to unit. So the contacts doesn’t touch. But I don’t think thats djis fault it's clearly the design of the Lav whats the problem. Thats why on RODEs Lavalier II the bolt is removable. Btw the Lavalier II sounds way better then the ME-2-II.
Nah, it works with all the Rode Wireless sets, the old DJI set, and a basically every other non-threaded system I’ve ever plugged the ME-2 and MKE-2 in to. I have an issue with an old tascam system, but it was because the mic port was slightly recessed, not because the jack itself wasn’t compatible.
@@DAVISION-YT Seeing that you control lavalier microphones, I'm thinking about purchasing some DJI Mic 2 and a lavalier to put inside a motorcycle helmet. I was thinking about a unidirectional one, any recommendations? Thank you very much in advance.
@@FStoppersHonestly it could be a tolerance issue with the production of the new dji mic 2’s, if enough tolerance slack is accepted in production length of how far the jack goes in, due to the sennheiser plug being slightly different, production differences in length from case to internal contact could be off for it to make proper contact, but any way hou look at it it’s not a good look for dji :/ I did a video on a completely separate problem relating to bluetooth/iphone connections and no internal recording and no support for native iphone video app, and new stuff is happening with even more problems showing up so probably doing a follow up as well
I'm not an audio expert, but perhaps connecting a extension cable to the MK2 can help determine if the screw lock is the culprit. Based on your video, it may seem it is. However, it is strange that it works on one transmitter but not on the other one. Hopefully DJI can clarify this.
Just spent 2 days shooting 7 interviews and I had zero issues with the DJI Mic 2. I never had a signal loss , even when the transmitter was in another room. I've used the Rode Lavalier Go and they worked perfect, giving a way better and richer sound that I can hear in this test...
May I remind a nice and clever functionality of the DJI Mic 2, that eliminates the need for using wired capsules with screw-on type jack connectors...? The moving part of the transmitter clip has a small groove hidden inside. This is to grip the cable after doing a loop. This combination acts like a safety against unplugging + a safety against traction on the cable itself. And there... no problems of compatibility (or lack of), because you don't care about locking-ring size and else : you can plug any type of 3.5 mm jack connector and still have it safely in place for your whole filming. DJI was more clever than many think they are ! 😇
None of the lavs with locking connector will ever work in that 3.5mm jack properly, because you can't get it far enough in. Locking 3.5mm jacks are slightly protruding and that's your problem here. That's not a problem with the mic. That's just because locking connectors can't be used on most regular 3.5mm jack. With the Røde Lavalier II, you can unscrew the locking nut to use it in a regular 3.5mm jack. With your Sennheiser lav, that's a no go, as Sennheiser didn't intend them to be removed. It's not a fault. It's by design.
@focuspulling I have not seen Curtis video, yet. But it is on my to do list. I do have both the Mic 1 and Mic 2 and the Mic 2 really doesn't have the margin to push a locking lav fully in. Especially because the top of the mic is curved, where the Mic 1 is flat around the connector and the connector is less recessed.
Ageee I have used these since the day they came out with rode lavs with no issue. I’m also betting it’s your locking ring maybe it’s causing some sort of ground issue or something.
This is interesting…..I have the DJI Mic 2 (2 person kit) and the DJI Mic 2 (single person kit). Then I went ahead and bought the white DJI transmitter and paired it up with the single person kit so we have two DJI Mic 2 2person kits. I also have 4 Sennheiser MKE2 lavs…when I get home from vacay, I’m trying this out…if I record it, can I send you our results for comparison?
Oddly, I've been hearing a bit of a noise aberration on the Mic 2. I've tried 2 separate units and heard it on both. It's an odd interference noise. Not quite what you experienced though. I may be returning it again & just sticking with the Mic 1.
Whats the microphone you use to record the audio for the beggining of this video before you plugged in any dji or lav or whatever? That mic sounds amazing the original from the beggining of video. I would love to know please
BROOO, i literally just shot a wedding two days ago, and used my DJI mic 2 for the very first time. I plugged in a Shure lav mic into one of the mics and hooked it up to the groom, but it did the same thing - there was a 30 minute recording file of the entire ceremony, but there were no sounds. I was so shocked when I got home. Lucky I had a back up audio (DJI MIC 2 2nd mic) plugged into the celebrant + DJI Mic 1 strapped into the handheld mic which captured everything.
Sounds like the frequencies are cancelling each other out between the two transmitters. Do you know the frequency of each unit? Ideally the difference between the 2 needs to be further apart. 2.4 GHz is wildly crowded with Bluetooth, Wifi, SMART meters, radar and such using this there can be interference. The other issue is a bad input jack on unit 2. Probably due to inconsistent soldering at the factory.
I had similar to your second problem with my first version of DJI mic. The audio from the transmitter almost always were broken, interrupted and unusable with or without lav. :( I mostly used the system as a backup and made sure I record to the unit itself. Bought the second version, it looks like it is fine. Rode system is the better sound quality still.
That is kinda weird. I’ve been testing mine and mine don’t do that. Main thing I have to do is normalize the audio in post to make it loud enough but that’s about it. No crackling or cutting out
The sennheiser Mk has the sennheiser proprietary plug it also doesn’t work on Sony wireless systems - if you want to use the MK2 with Mic2 you will need to have it reterminated
Sorry but exactly the other way around, the Sony is the one that doesn’t follow the standard, Sennheisers are the TRS termination standard. It definitely should work and you are ignoring that one is working.
I have ‘all’ the various systems Sony Sennheiser Rode etc - i am not saying one is better just that a lav mic terminated for rode will work with the Mic2 a Sony terminated Sanken cos11 won’t work with Tentacle track-e recorder - needs to be sennheiser terminated - does the DJI included mic work with both?
Just do what I did and plug it into a SHURE SM7db 😅 No problems powering that. Idk how you guys got lemons 🍋 and mines works fine. What a time to be alive.
On the DJI mic 1. I got feedback (buzzing and high pitched noises) when using lav mics and their response was to buy different lav mics. Love DJI but wasn't a great experience.
Loads of issues with mine, Lav's not working, been using the Sony hotshoe adapter and just disconnects and then have to randomly faff around to get it to reconnect, had mics unsync and take ages to be recognised again. When it finally works, its great, it's just soooo temperamental.
Locking screw lavs may be super safe when connecting to a locking screw transmitter but are a PITA when connecting to a non-locking screw transmitter or audio device. My Sennheiser lav connects fine to the Mic 2, but will not connect to my Steinberg USB UR22. I fell in love with my Deity D4-Duo (bought it years ago, never really used it), now It works great as a desktop Mic connected to the Mic 2 transmitter, connected to the Mic 2 Reciever, connected via USB to my computer. (3 interconnects that work in realtime!). Lav are PITA (IMHO), I have some fancy Deity Lav Mic that doesn't work at all. Note I'm not an AV guy and don't understand all the electrical intricacies on Mic equipment; I know they're touchy.
I have seen other videos of various issues with the DJI Mic 2 -the audio from the mics are not the same in documented tests after you hear they sound different. Also, the Bluetooth to Insta360 Ace Pro is not working. I have deferred my purchase until things are sorted out. Your findings are just another nail in the coffin for me. I need consistent reliable equipment for field work.
Bluetooth is not working with GoPro Hero12 either, but I don't think you can blame DJI for the crappy bluetooth implementation in competitors action cameras.
@@chrisbogart687 As far as I have seen on RUclips the previous firmware for the Ace Pro did support the Mic2 transmitter. There is a lot of issues here, insofar as the GoPro is only supporting the BT Handset profile, which has a crappy sound in any case, while DJI's own Pocket 3 seems to use an BT profile with is called EDR -"enhanced data rate" for better quality audio.
Having many of the same issues, I unfortunately sold my first gen before properly testing the second gen like a fool, I want to return them but I’d be taking an extra lost just to buy back my original one!
That sounded like some sort of interference or lost signal. Iv heard other complaints about mic2 as well. I use mine a little different and haven't had these issues but its a little concerning to hear about since these mic's are a bit pricey. Just keep in mind that they make these out of pure Chinesium.
The internal recording issue is an issue with the Mic V1 also. Our studio have been fighting our internally recorded audio not glitching out and desyncing with our footage over time.
This launch should ultimately be viewed as an epic fail for both RUclips and DJI. So many people praising these things. I actually purchased them and they just sound BAD. Like…REALLY BAD. Total bummer.
I use the DJI Mic 2 with the DJI Action 4 and the DJI GPS wrist remote. Everything works perfectly. Mixing different manufacturers equipment won't always work.
Hello thanks for your review. Could you help me? I heard that DJI mic has drift while recording internally. But I need to record using the camera for about 2 hours on lectures. From what I heard if I recorded directly to the camera there is no drift only when recorded internally on the transmitter. Do you know something about that?
should you be plugging the microphones in there when the unit is switched on ?? I was always under the impression that it is recommended that the unit should be switched off . Plugging it in and out when it switched on which is damage it and the microphone ..
Yes you should be able to plug in microphones when the unit is switched on. Standard practice. I don't know of amy radio mic, or any piece of audio equipment using low voltage plug-in power where switching off is a requirement.
personal choice I suppose, I always turn items off when plugging something in or out maybe it's just me and have I've got into some kind of habits ,there's always some kind of resistance going on even low-voltage stuff .
@@cheekyoscar1353 Exactly - your choice. Certainly can't do any harm being extra careful. I'm from a professional broadcast environment and never had an issue or been advised to do so. Would make troubleshooting an absolute pain eg checking for an intermittent plug issue as above. Plugging headphones into a phone? Plugging a headset into an expensive computer? If it blew up my laptop or phone, I'd expect a refund and an explanation.
I had static recorded internally for the duration of the recording on both transmitters. I am really bugging why that happened because the other internal files are good. I need to check this issue you're having though. smh
your mic is R or L, that one works on the older wireless systems, in order to be true stereo you may need a stereo mic, or have a R and L mics properly connected on the right or left receiver, mono mic wont work others why you end with a copy of left and right
The same with me. Can't recap any of it. However, I'm also smart enough not to use a microphone with strange screw caps that were actually built for Sennheiser transmitters. I don't think Sennheiser engineers 20 years ago thought that decades later they might also go into small 3.5mm jacks on mobile audio devices of this size.
I have the Rode wireless pro . I have a few MKE2 and MKE 1 ‘s and they have an interference buzz in the system . The standard ME2 works fine. Which is a shame I can’t use the pro end mic with Rode , it’s actually worst interference then the Wireless go 2. The MKE mics work fine with the Sennheiser system as expected
That's a huge deal breaker I was on the fence about getting the Rode or this new iteration I was leaning to Rode because I couldn't believe DJI released this system without a locking collar system. These issues solidify the Rode purchase. Thanks for the honest review.
I’m so confused with this little DJI mic, it was working great the first couple of uses and now it’s starting to have issues and the $15 Bluetooth mic from Amazon is sounding better than this DJI mic…the software is up to date and it’s fully charged, connected to only one device. I don’t know how to fix this 😐
If you use threaded lav mics that are not necessarily designed to work with the (non-threaded) Mic2 transmitters it doesn’t seem very smart to throw shade on DJI and the Mic 2. It might work and it might not work but why be surprised and disappointed when it doesn’t? This looks more like operator error and not a DJI Mic 2 problem.
Hi, recently I bought a DJI Mic 2 and I'm very disappointed because the only way to make the standalone recordings usable is to set the TX gain to +12dB, but they still have to be boosted a lot in post. I turned off the Low pass filter, I tried 32 and 24 bits, I tried everything but the records are still very quiet when I put the TX on my chest. Is it normal ? Does somoene managed to records something on a dji mic 2 without having to drastically boost in post ?
Yup, has been the same with the original: if you plug in anything and the cable turns ever so slightly, you get NO Audio whatsoever. I lost Sound on 2 weddings before i found out that this was the issue and immediately stopped using those!
I was literally wondering the same. I'll look up the mic he's using to confirm! I looked it up and the connector types are all XLR. It's not revealing online about the 3.5mm connector of the lav. I ordered TRS connector type lavs to test with my own dji mic 2 set to see if i have same issue. And then try a TRRS connector too. However, the dji lav mic is marketed as a trs connector so I'm concluding you need a trs and not a TRRS.
This is how lies get online. Curtis had a completely different problem. And has since admitted that he didn't know that he had a preordering model with the corresponding software. But the same problem: He claimed things the background of which he didn't know, and simply claimed things that weren't true, or were only true for him. So please be a little more objective.
@@mathiassiebert1217 Curtis had an issue with artifacts being added to certain words. Not sure if this was on the internal recording or the transmitted recording as he did not elaborate and just played a short recording. If you listen to his review, its clear that some words had an additional ringing or echo per the subtitles he added. I will wait to see what he has to say when he finishes his review.
other people have questioned the build quality and here we find more DJI manufacturing quality control issues. I've had no problems with Rode and I was literally going to try the DJI MIC 2.
ANOTHER PROBLEM ALERT! I have a different problem. The record button on my Mic 2 takes about 10 to 20 pushes and manipulating to finally turn on. I sent it back to DJI for a replacement. Hopefully it was just a glitch.
Is it possible that they did internal recording because they were having problems with production level input recording? But it was too late to make changes to the external input jacks?
That looks like the lav working out of the left or right channel since the mic is mono. Im curious is that persists with other lavs. Have you tried any other lav mics?
What microphone are you actually using to Record the actual video here, because it sounds the best, over the DJI as you sampled, that would be the mic I get
It’s a $1000 shotgun mic with tons of processing. Yes it’s better of course but I can also add this processing to any lav and make it sound way better.
Thank you for posting an update on this. I just saw a similar post on a software issue from Curtis Judd with noise coming from unit. I’m about to buy between this and Rode Pro.
This is so typical. Everyone was shilling this god damn mic when it was released? All because they earn affiliate money. I got the Rode Wireless PRO instead. (Happy till now.)

Please note that the Mic2 only supplies approx 2,5 volts of power and many "pro lavs" needs 5-7 volts to work properly.
@@GrenlandUnderVann That's a good joke by DJI in that case.
Isn't the Rode Lav+ for TRRS not TRS?
Congratz on 1M subscribers!
Just spent 2 days shooting 7 interviews and I had zero issues with the DJI Mic 2. I never had a signal loss , even when the transmitter was in another room. I've used the Rode Lavalier Go and they worked perfect, giving a way better and richer sound that I can hear in this test...
Using the same lav mic and have the exact same issues. Drove me nuts.
This exactly. But is it the same issue that Curtis Judd experienced? He's far smarter and more qualified than the Fstoppers bros.
Had the same issue with the original DJI mic. Sent it back.
I have the Mic 2 system and I found out that a Female Trrs to Male Trs connection might help with some instances. I use a Shure MVL Lavalier mic.
Plug the lav directly in your camera and see if it works, i have them too and frequently have connection problems
Great video, thanks! More importantly, what’s your Apple Watch Ultra strap?! Looks great!
This is a stark contrast from all those sponsored videos!! Thanks for saving me some cash!
Then why does it work on one and not the other?
Sorry but exactly the other way around, the Sony is the one that doesn’t follow the standard, Sennheisers are the TRS termination standard. It definitely should work and you are ignoring that one is working.
I have ‘all’ the various systems Sony Sennheiser Rode etc - i am not saying one is better just that a lav mic terminated for rode will work with the Mic2 a Sony terminated Sanken cos11 won’t work with Tentacle track-e recorder - needs to be sennheiser terminated - does the DJI included mic work with both?
@@TheTechnoPilotSennheiser are TRS but the Nut prevents them from being plugged in all the way so the contacts just barely touch.
Sennheiser terminations are 100% standard. They are threaded, but you can plug them into basically anything.
Just do what I did and plug it into a SHURE SM7db 😅
No problems powering that.
Use an 3.5mm audio plug adapter for the lav plug.
I have zero issues with my Dji mic 2 set. The sound quality has been great.
I had this since it was released no issue but this week the Audio out port completely failed and I have to use the HEadphone out now.
@@GrenlandUnderVann thanks for sharing since some were blaming the Ace Pro. Now that just adds to the problem with the Mic 2. 👎👎👎

Kudos for the honest review.
I don’t have any issues with mine. Please return your copy and get a new one. Thanks
I got the Boya lav mics. $99 and they work fine. No complaints
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
I use the DJI Mic 2 with the DJI Action 4 and the DJI GPS wrist remote. Everything works perfectly. Mixing different manufacturers equipment won't always work.
You are honest and telling the truth, but there are youtubers who recommend this shi*** microfon!
thank you sir for your honesty
Hello thanks for your review. Could you help me?
I heard that DJI mic has drift while recording internally. But I need to record using the camera for about 2 hours on lectures. From what I heard if I recorded directly to the camera there is no drift only when recorded internally on the transmitter.
Do you know something about that?
Also, try turn off internal 32 bit float if activated, this seems to make some issues with current firmware.
Is this a case of releasing not ready products and then fixing them with updates?
The first problem seems like a hardware issue; like each transmitter is built slightly differently.
@@FStoppersa lot of people are also complaining about the transmitters not having consistent audio colour (sound quality) within the same sets too.
@@TheTechnoPilot And some have no problems whatsoever.
What did DJI reply to you?
should you be plugging the microphones in there when the unit is switched on ??
I need to check this issue you're having though. smh
your mic is R or L, that one works on the older wireless systems, in order to be true stereo you may need a stereo mic, or have a R and L mics properly connected on the right or left receiver, mono mic wont work others why you end with a copy of left and right
Will be interesting to see what DJI come back with, will watch to see your next video about it.
I use both mics most of the time, and everything is working fine for me. My audio is also sounding better than what's publish in this video.
That’s how my DJI mic 1 were when I first bought them I couldn’t use any lavas think I have a faulty one
Had the exact same problem on the 1st version from DJI.
In Camera recording would skip from time to time and even sometimes on the internal recording.
I was gonna buy at a store and they sent all of theirs back after customers returning theirs due to audio issues. Might be a bigger batch error
I don’t know how to fix this 😐
You do know that’s a ‘different’, although almost similar connector right? Sennheiser connectors are officially not compatible with jacks…
He obviously did not know.
@@mathiassiebert1217I know
If you use threaded lav mics that are not necessarily designed to work with the (non-threaded) Mic2 transmitters it doesn’t seem very smart to throw shade on DJI and the Mic 2. It might work and it might not work but why be surprised and disappointed when it doesn’t? This looks more like operator error and not a DJI Mic 2 problem.
Did. you claim this at DJI under warranty? What was the result?
You're supposed to use a trs screw adapter.
I've had none of those issues with mine. Mine so far work perfectly as intended.
Are those wifi antennas to your left behind you? The audio cutouts seems to be RF interference.
Yup, has been the same with the original: if you plug in anything and the cable turns ever so slightly, you get NO Audio whatsoever. I lost Sound on 2 weddings before i found out that this was the issue and immediately stopped using those!
Really stupid question here - Could this be a TRS vs TRRS issue with the lav mics?
I was literally wondering the same. I'll look up the mic he's using to confirm! I looked it up and the connector types are all XLR. It's not revealing online about the 3.5mm connector of the lav. I ordered TRS connector type lavs to test with my own dji mic 2 set to see if i have same issue. And then try a TRRS connector too. However, the dji lav mic is marketed as a trs connector so I'm concluding you need a trs and not a TRRS.
No…not to mention works with Dji mic 1. This guys is a pro… like he said he has been using wireless mice for the past 10 years lol.
Not a stupid question. This is usually the issue with most audio gear even monitor headphones.
That is exactly what it is. It works perfect with the TRRS to TRS converter plug. I have the same setup.
Yep got my TRS mics today and it works! This is not an issue. I think this video should be taken down in prevent false information online.
Curtis judd stopped his review last week when he ran into this problem. His working with DJI too. I am sure it will be resolved soon.

I sent it back and will continue to use the holleyland lark M1. They pair so much better and sound about the same for less then half the price.
Have you updated the transmitters first of all? They released an update for the units not to long after the osmo pocket 3 was released.
other people have questioned the build quality and here we find more DJI manufacturing quality control issues.
Hopefully it was just a glitch.
is the lav issue only when both transmitters are on at the same time? or it just works with 1 and not the other?
Is it possible that they did internal recording because they were having problems with production level input recording? But it was too late to make changes to the external input jacks?
For me problem one is I don’t like the look. I’m watching the review now and can’t wait to see what you share.
WHAT in the world???? None of that makes any sense. Great catch Lee!
A poor workman blames his tools.
Don't forget to turn off the lowpass in the unit as it comes with it ON as default.
Thanks for this review 👏🏼👏🏼. Hopefully they fit it !
The interference can come from any 2.4 ghz product like wifi units
That looks like the lav working out of the left or right channel since the mic is mono. Im curious is that persists with other lavs. Have you tried any other lav mics?
What microphone are you actually using to Record the actual video here, because it sounds the best, over the DJI as you sampled, that would be the mic I get
It’s a $1000 shotgun mic with tons of processing. Yes it’s better of course but I can also add this processing to any lav and make it sound way better.
