I have a similar setup: the DJI Mic 2 + the MI Shoe adapter for the Sony camera + Rode Lav II. One trick I found using a lav mic with a locking mechanism on the transmitter unit is to unscrew the locking bit, if possible, allowing the 3.5mm pin to go deeper into the DJI unit. As for the interference noise, this might be a problem with the cable and the 3.5mm ports on both the camera and receiver unit. I often run into interference issues with the 3.5mm mic jack. Getting the Mi hot shoe adapter might solve the problem, as I found the hot shoe connection to be more stable than the 3.5mm overall.
I don't do tech reviews, but I have 1100 videos up on RUclips, so I heavily rely on technology. My DJI Mic V2 has worked flawlessly. When it comes to tech, I like less but better: no receiver and no wire, just turn on the mic and see the audio bar bouncing across the top of the screen. Plus, I use the Mic V2 without a receiver directly with my iPhone and MacBook Pro. It has simplified my setup time and has worked 100% so far. I do have the 32-bit internal record set up to auto-start when I record but haven't needed it yet. No receiver, no wire from receiver to camera, no lav mic plugged in. Turn on the mic and hit record; great audio and foolproof, which I need as a solo creator with no one to check audio or video; I just need it to work every time.
It’s great that it works for you but “great audio” over Bluetooth with this kit seems like a huge stretch from every example out there. To be clear I’m not saying it’s not perfect for your use case and keeping the capture and post at the perfect level for you, but in the context beyond social media, the BT transmission is only slightly better than most BT headsets.

Bottom line, Rode Wireless Pro is the way to go for a premium more professional product. dji does win in a lot of categories, but to me…Rode hands down. BTW, Rode did have a sale for $349 on the Rode last week! It’s better value even at $400 the fact that you get the lav mics for free.

I’m having an interference noise which is my own voice repeating on a very low volume on the background Like a whisper of my own voice It sucks for me 😊
Weird that the way the 3.5 locking jack is designed makes it incompatible with female jacks without the locking threads. That’s a really stupid design choice.
Wonder if it's possible to run two systems at the same time in order to record 4 people simultaneously. I'm not sure if that doubles your chances of having issues but ultimately it would be nice to have a 4 lav set up for us small time gunners.
Does that thumb tightening ring on the lavalier prevent the plug from getting fully into the transmitter. I'm thinking it could cause it to not go deep enough inside.
We have problems with wisa speakers in combination with wifi on 5ghz. The dji 2 run on 2.4 ghz. Maybe you want to try and disable 5ghz to make sure a laptop is connected on 2.4 and then download a large file while testing the mic.
That is definitely because of the locking pins in my experience. Dji mic first edition is not working with my rode lavaliers unless it is forced in the jack appropriately
I had in consistent interference issues my DJI mic 1. I loved everything about the mics but after a few updates I started having issues with different lavs and 3.5mm cables. I ended up going back to the Rode lavs.
For what it’s worth, we have the 1st gen system. Love it. Recently bought a bluetooth transmitter for my airpods and tried recording an interview while monitoring the sound from the A7s3 with the Bluetooth adapter - the theory being wireless monitoring would literally free me up to float while filming and yet still constantly monitoring sound. BUT… it was interfering with the DJI transmission and made our recording to our A7s3 very garbled- just like what happens to you. And also like you, the on-board recording was fine. I was able to figure it out because we use to use a Sennheiser system but something was wrong with the recordings which at first I blamed on the camera, then the cable. Took we a while to realize the compact elbow receiver did not like being within 2ft of our PMW-F5. Once I let it dangle off of it, everything was great. Maybe that helps you sleuth out the issue somehow?

I have noticed the same issue in my mic I did the firmware update. My receiver also just died without any reason. I have had so much bad audio in the last week that I feel they have some issues.
I just remove the locking portion from the mic. Unfortunate that you need to do that to be sure. They should really make a non-locking variant of the mic.
I ended up having to contact DJI a bunch of different times about the DJI Mic 1. I really didn't get any decent help until I shared my RUclips channel. After that they were quick to help and still help me to this day. I just returned my DJI Mike one which randomly stopped getting clean audio from the receiver. It was completely unusable It went back to DJI and came back working. I have the DJI Mike too also and people really didn't like my video criticizing it. 😊 I will have to update everyone also because I actually like this mic a lot more now
It's really crazy with these mics. I had bad issues with interference sounds with the DJI mics with my Sony cameras. A7s3, fx3, fx6. Also had issues with rode wireless gos and gen2. Only works fine in the XLR 3.5mm jack. Can never replicate the issues for customer service to help. I tried every combo I could think of to narrow down the issues. Just came down to not compatible between Sony and DJI.
I bought the original DJI mic system from B&H. The receiver locked up almost immediately; I couldn't even turn it off. I returned the set for a full refund and bought a Rode Wireless Go system. I think DJI makes some awesome audio kit but they have serious quality control issues. Presumably, their drones are much more reliable.
Sennheiser lavs work mostly only with Sennheiser system, as does Rode. Sound guys tell that they have opposite wiring (whatever that means). I guess its the same with DJI in this case.
I had issues with the Mic2 as well. I purchased 3 completed sets as well as 3 OSMO Pocket 3 creator sets. All Mic2s from OSMO creator sets AND Mic2 sets work with the OSMO Pocket 3 and can be easily paired and swapped. The issue is that within an hour the mics refused to pair to two of the receivers. I went through DJIs troubleshooting and they eventually asked me to return the two DJI Mic2 Sets that wouldn’t pair with the receivers. Hopefully this can be fixed through an update, but even that can’t happen unless it can be loaded directly onto the Mic2 it’s self. I also had the same interference issues but only if I was around a 2.4ghz source… like you guessed it WiFi. The mics worked beautifully away from WiFi sources:( Hope this helps someone.
when they make the mic input where you an screw it in the mic, then it will be perfect, and maybe go back to matte black too. the designs is cool but we want practical not cool for video interviews
Used it ytd but haven't used with any Lav mic. Direct connection from like a DAC to the transmitter works well tho and hearing the audio from the receiver interestingly the audio from the headphone port is more full rather than the orange output port. Anyone tested this? Is it because of the impedence? But other than that I think the battery for one transmitter is about 5.5 hours before it reaches critical.(This is with recording with 32 bit float ON, NC off and Low Cut OFF.
This DJI second generation mic system is most definitely NOT a professional product that is intended to "mix'n'match" with professional audio components like the Sennheiser MKE-2 microphone. So here's a revolutionary idea ... use this "amateur/enthusiast" DJI product as it's intended to be used with the lav that's provided by DJI, and the system will work flawlessly. Your ongoing efforts to interface the fundamentally incompatible Sennheiser MKE-2 mic demonstrate nothing more than pointless stubbornness. If you want to use a pro lav, then match that lav with a Zaxcom, Lectrosonics, Shure, etc professional transmitter/receiver system, as these systems that are designed to work with third party lavs like those offered by Sennheiser, Sanken, DPA, etc. Stop trying to interface fundamentally incompatible audio components, and then backhandedly trying to imply that there's something "wrong" with one of them. It erodes confidence in your ability and/or knowledge to review audio components.
The MKE-2 requires a different operating voltage than can be provided by the DJI transmitter, so you have no idea if it did, or did not contribute (pro-tip, it very likely did contribute) ... all apparently irrelevant though, as you choose to deflect facts in order to create a non-existent "issue" related to DJI. Therefore, I find your reviews to be uninformed, and as a result, lacking accuracy.
The reason the DJI engineers give seems very plausible for me. Connectors like those especially can have quite a big variance. Normally never an issue as they are intended to put some pressure on the contacts. I have a simple solution for you: An 3.5mm locking to 3.5mm regular adapter. Should only be a couple of bucks.
Sorry 2 hear again, comes down to a Defect, as if you feel the locking jack is a concern put an adapter on and try that was never mentioned , good luck
I have the same Sennheiser MKE 2 Gold mic and I had to cut off the locking collar to make it work reliably. If you do so, it will work, but obviously, you lose the locking ability/security of the body pack transmitters.
I have personally had that weird interference issue on the original DJI mics when paired with my cell phone, but it only ever happened once and haven't been able to replicate it again.
Did you have both the old receiver and new receiver on the same time which may have caused the interference? The transmitter may have been trying to send the signal to both
Thanks Bro! Only because "every other review is so positive" that means nothing. A lot of reviews are payed, don´t forget that. Your isues are your issues, END of the story. Try another unit and let us know!
Im not in an audio profession, My guess, DJI 2 has a Bluetooth connection. remember it's a three devices, 2TX and 1RX each got to have Bluetooth setup within it. The problem seem to be the communication between those Bluetooth. I believe the firmware update can fix it unless it built different (do not take my word for it).
I had the exact same problem with the interference on a different brand but similar feature set. I am currently in contact with customer service to get the issue resolved, and they have responded to my problems within a reasonable time frame. The Ankerwork M650 are very similar in features to the DJI mic 2, and I actually prefer their round shape over the rectangular DJI. However, just as you said in this video, the audio was completely unusable and I was using them in a "live streaming setting". The first set would get the interfence randomly and this was in a rural setting with no major sources of interference such as cell phone towers, transformers, large power lines and etc. I isolated each side of the stereo audio through a mixer and both mics had the same issue even though one was more prone to the problem. I eventually duplicated the problem with nothing but a cellphone and the mic set with all other electronics removed. They replaced that set and the replacement set had the same issue but I could easily duplicate the problem by being outside of a 25 foot range. Yes, I did say that correct, outside of 25 feet, straight line of sight with no obstructions the audio was unusable. However, the first set would work at times with a range of several hundred feet, even through building walls. So, I believe there may be some QC issues regarding reception that use a common component to both systems. My audio anomaly sounds the exact same, as that poor reception, garbled jibberish that you display in this video.
Great Update. Don't feel bad; It's YOUR experience. Reliability is key. With all the time, money, and planning shoots and interviews take, reliability is #1. I'm just now venturing out and trying the Rode Wireless PRO (due to your reviews) from my ultra-heavy, bombproof, but 100% reliable Sony UWP system. Until now, every other system couldn't be counted on. Plus, glitchy equipment makes you look like an amateur- even when it's not your fault. edit: misspelled amateur :/
Interesting! I am in the middle of a weeks' long interaction with DJI Support for my Mic (version 1) because it produces a buzzing interference sound only with the Sony A1, not with the Sony A7S3. I have tested many cables, many mics, same A1 with Rode wireless, etc. And it is only between DJI Mic 1 and Sony A1. Mine I can replicate every time....
I've had that same issue with the interference with the DJI 1s, and interestingly, same thing with rode wireless GOs. I have no clue why and never found a good way to fix it either... super weird
by any chance you’re using a TP link commercial router or similar? having the same issue and once we unplugged all our Tp link routers it worked fine - had it on the first edition of the dji mic 😮
That is weird. Under the clip is a place for you to put the cord for a lav mic so it cant pull out. no need for a locking jack. Iv heard of a few problems with the mic2. It sounds like dji might have pushed these out a little prematurely. I haven't had a problem with mine yet.
I just did two shoots. The first one I had the low cut on by default so sound was muffled. Then I fixed settings. Did a two man shoot and wow these mics suck! I want to like them so bad.
It is not just you. Curtis Judd had issues too, so eh, sample size of professionals having issues on early bird samples is interesting. Firmware or hardware issues. Maybe later production runs were higher quality than reviewer samples. Or maybe there are production issues that will be reflected in overall reviews once sampling biases goes away. Great to know that DJI doesn’t cherry pick reviewer samples :) Feels a bit like the Canon R5 debacle but worse, and R5 issues could be mitigated with firmware update or less demanding video settings. DJI malfunctioning in various strange ways at its core functionality seems way worse.
I've been getting intermittent artifact noise in some videos w/ the DJI Lav. I thought the new Firmware might have fixed it, but not the case. It's not quite as bad as yours, but I'm filming on an iPhone. I'm on my 1st replacement, so it's 2 units w/ the issue so far. Like you, I feel the Mic 1 is more reliable.

The old system was TRRS the new system is TRS. I was pretty upset about it at first but I guess it is what it is
ok so im really happy that the noise cancel button can be disabled ! .. but this is what I dont get ... this tx is small , so most men have banana hands and holding the tx to put in their pocket , its easy to hold the power button and turn it off including recording ! .. how is this possible ??? surely all they had to do was a disable all tx buttons via rx !!
its just so frustrating ,,,.. please can everyone message dji ? all we want is a hold option like the zoom h1 which is ancient !
I’m having an interference noise which is my own voice repeating on a very low volume on the background
Like a whisper of my own voice
It sucks for me 😊
Weird that the way the 3.5 locking jack is designed makes it incompatible with female jacks without the locking threads. That’s a really stupid design choice.
Wonder if it's possible to run two systems at the same time in order to record 4 people simultaneously. I'm not sure if that doubles your chances of having issues but ultimately it would be nice to have a 4 lav set up for us small time gunners.
I'm using the "official" DJI lavs with three DJI Mic2 and no issues.
i actually have the same interference issue i actually have footage on it but haven't uploaded it yet cant find a video to fix it
Maybe buy a small jack cable extension that works with this ring mechanism and fits into the dji mic
Simple… You should not have done any review at all but waited for you / dji to solve the problems.
Will these pick up an acoustic guitar and someone singing?
Interesting. It sounded just like my glitch? I don't have any additional bluetooth stuff going on in my office.
@@FStoppers which is why I mentioned the F5 and Sennheiser - I suggesting ‘something’ has a conflict. But hey, I could be wrong and frequently am…
@@FStoppersa mouse a keyboard, the motherboard, vr headset controller, watch, notebook, tablet, phone, game controller, tv or player remote, there are so many Bluetooth around us.
You shouldn't have posted this video until you were able to compare with another set
this video is pointless .... also, have the same lav and it works with these transmitters
come on bro. Clearly the work of ancient aliens messing with you.
Did you make the last firmware update (DJI Mic 2 Firmware v04.03.08.31(Receiver)?
Gremlins. The crazy war vet neighbor tried to warn us.
It was aliens.
I have noticed the same issue in my mic
I did the firmware update. My receiver also just died without any reason. I have had so much bad audio in the last week that I feel they have some issues.
I just remove the locking portion from the mic. Unfortunate that you need to do that to be sure. They should really make a non-locking variant of the mic.
I guess they need to learn how to make it good-perfect.
😊 I will have to update everyone also because I actually like this mic a lot more now
I have the same issue with DJI , interference so bad
I sent mine back, will stick to the Rode Wireless Pro and the Mic 2 for $99 for Action 4 and Pocket 3 as a backup.
You have to replace the cable that came with them. It doesn’t work well with Sony cameras.
The mics worked beautifully away from WiFi sources:(
Hope this helps someone.
With so many issue with the DJI, even though I love the featureset, bought the rode pro anyways. Mic audio is better on the Rode anyways.
when they make the mic input where you an screw it in the mic, then it will be perfect, and maybe go back to matte black too. the designs is cool but we want practical not cool for video interviews
try turning on a microwave oven while doing the test, this affects regular wifi and most all types of wireless devices that overlap that spectrum
Bro let it go. It’s still brand new.
My second issue had nothing to do with the MKE2 Lav.
Great update! Not sure what mic I should buy now...
It is entirely possible that the janky sound could have been your camera processing the audio.
We used the Saramonic Blink 500 mics. They were great the first year we had them but they became unreliable this year.
I have personally had that weird interference issue on the original DJI mics when paired with my cell phone, but it only ever happened once and haven't been able to replicate it again.
Did you have both the old receiver and new receiver on the same time which may have caused the interference? The transmitter may have been trying to send the signal to both
This guy gets hotter everyday
This is exactly why these mics are great. Issue with transmission. Internal recording to save the day.
Thanks Bro!
Only because "every other review is so positive" that means nothing. A lot of reviews are payed, don´t forget that.
Your isues are your issues, END of the story.
Try another unit and let us know!
Im not in an audio profession,
My guess, DJI 2 has a Bluetooth connection. remember it's a three devices, 2TX and 1RX each got to have Bluetooth setup within it.
I wouldn't waste my time on it ... there are so many good wireless systems that works from the get go.
It’s the battle of a wireless transmission company and a microphone company at making the best wireless microphone!
Sounds like the Fstoppers magic touch. Technology loves to frustrate you (i remember the Nvidia GPU saga)
use rode wireless pro
I just did two shoots. The first one I had the low cut on by default so sound was muffled. Then I fixed settings. Did a two man shoot and wow these mics suck! I want to like them so bad.
I think you just had a bad set.
But what I am having second thoughts is the sound between rode and DJI
Rode sound more crisp
The distorted interference sounds like a robocall.
This issues and problems of unstable signal occured from the first version of DJI Mic....Can't do anything or any support from DJI
Great to know that DJI doesn’t cherry pick reviewer samples :)
Feels a bit like the Canon R5 debacle but worse, and R5 issues could be mitigated with firmware update or less demanding video settings. DJI malfunctioning in various strange ways at its core functionality seems way worse.
To be clear mine was not early. I purchased this from BH
also most of the time recover is never turned on when i open the box has to wait like 1:2 min or press power button
DJI CS is crap
User error
I've been getting intermittent artifact noise in some videos w/ the DJI Lav. I thought the new Firmware might have fixed it, but not the case. It's not quite as bad as yours, but I'm filming on an iPhone. I'm on my 1st replacement, so it's 2 units w/ the issue so far. Like you, I feel the Mic 1 is more reliable.
Just got mine and the other transmitter won't connect to the reciever, even after updating all of them..
