  • Check out this beautiful '67 Pontiac GTO Convertible! Owner Bob Bute aquired this rare classic from the original owner a few years back. The car was in great original shape although it was in need of quite a bit of mechanical work. The biggest job was rebuilding the 400ci/325hp which was bored 0.30 over and done with stock internal oem original components. Interior is completely stock with the optional his n her shifter attached to a Turbo 350 trans. Bob also updated the rear diff with a positrac and opted for a set of modern 17" wheels with low profile tires. This was Bob's first time to the track with the car and his first time since the 70's to make a pass down the 1/4 mile. Considering everything I'd say it was an impressive day to say the least! #gto #pontiacmusclecar #gtoconvertible

I commend this gentleman for rebuilding this gorgeous Pontiac truthfully and not adding some big cam and mods that didn't come from factory . That goat is the truth .

I'll take the GTO any time . As a teenager I had a 1965 black GTO with big fat tires slotted mags 4on the floor 6 pack carbs 3 1/2 " hooker headers and glass packs . a dual point Mallory and a Accel coil and wires. The best part of my teen years was gas was only 25 cents a Gal.

The ET wasn't bad but the speed should be about 10 MPH faster. The base engine in '67 was rated 335 hp with 441 ft lb of torque I believe. The ET should probably be in the low 14's. In the video it says it has a 3.55 posi rear end which should be good with the automatic. Pontiac's were great engines for torque and they usually ran better with the timing advanced 2 to 4 degrees more than factory spec. Sure is a beautiful car though and I really like the 17 inch wheels that look like the original ones! Wish it was mine!

He would be better off with the factory intake and Q-jet. A friend has a '68 Firebird 400 Conv and it has been 13.60s @ 101 on red line tires. it probably could run a little quicker as it has only made 2 passes down the track.

Pretty obvious that it has a highway gear in it shifting into drive at the finish line

Neither the Dodge or the Camaro has any excuses, against an OLDER model stock engine none upgrades !!!
And they are well tuned up and do sadly 13&14 !!!!!!?????
    WHAT A SHAME !!!!!!!!!!
This Pontiac had it to be tuned up to the level of those cars
For sure the Pontiac whipped the rear end to those modern cars big time SERIOUSLY !!!

True, the challenger was sleeping at the line but it also sounded modified. The camaro was in the ballpark of best et I believe. I think it came down to the driver skills and the GTO driver Bob was on point.
