I have the four corners farm, despite playing single player. This is how I lay out my farm: fruit trees, tapped trees, and trees for wood, animals and slimes are in the top right where the house is, sheds and a couple lightning rods are on the bottom right, where the little mine is, and crops are in the bottom left, because of the pond for rice. I always use a mill, just because I think it’s cool to not have to buy anything but vinegar. I typically choose mushrooms for the cave, because I can just get fruit trees.
TLDR: I add lots of variety to my farm, even if it’s less profitable

I recommend dropping any regrowable crop with a decently long regrow time like pineapples, cranberries, eggplants, or if you really dont want to check tea saplings often until the end of the season.

You're bound to get 4 days of rain, so you really don't need to water them. Put them in the mill, and make them into bread, and you can sell each for 60G making a 6× profit with barely any effort

I just started playing when the 1.6 update happened, so I went with the meadowlands farm. I’m still in the process of figuring out my layout as I go. Especially considering playing vanilla and working with the time. Moving buildings at Robin’s gives me a chance to really look and plan.
Just started year 3, so now I’m just looking at optimizing efficiency with my morning tasks so I can explore the rest of what I didn’t do within the first 2 years, and to make more money. I got all 4 candles lit, but definitely didn’t reach perfection.
I have a fully upgraded coop and barn. I’m considering one more of each, or at least one more barn for pigs. I have my 3rd shed being built (should be done next time I play). 5 fish ponds. A well, 3 silos, a mill. Mill does seem unnecessary unless you just want to be able to process your own sugar, rice, and wheat flour.
Currently I’m moving stuff around and working with the patches of grass you can’t till on the meadowlands farm.
So I’m scrapping the little farm spot that’s in front of the house and putting sheds there. The grass below has my fish ponds and smokers. Below that around the medium pond doing trees/mushroom logs and dehydrators by the cave. Near the entrance to Cindersap Forest I put the well and will grow crops in that bottom left part of the land. The mill on the little patch of grass that’s untillable near the smallest pond. The coop(s) by the big pond so ducks can swim. I will move barn(s) above that. Green house is where the coop originally starts and have flowers/beehives in front of it. I was thinking of when I get the obelisks and clock, they’ll go by grandpa’s shrine. And idk yet if I want the slime hutch, but if I do wherever it fits. Stable is attached to the left of the house. House fully upgraded plus 2 additional add-ons so far.
I’m enjoying getting ideas from what others post when it comes to layouts and how it aligns with their play style.

fish ponds are pretty good in my opinion especially blob fish at the population of nine and 10 every day there will almost certainly be a 1-2 roe the price of wich Mach the blob fish which is the second most expensive non-legendary fish just behind the lava eel but the main reason I like it is that it gives pearls and then there is also the super cucumber at the same amount of population that can give iridium ore and then the best fish to put in there in my opinion is the rainbow trout giving a pretty good chance of getting a prismatic shard compared to lots of other ways wall also being a passive way to get prismatic shards occasionally which is pretty good in the beginning when you don’t have the perfection thing unlocked and when the most other sources you’re not able to access. pearls are universally loved as well as prismatic shards and if you don’t have access to the skull caverns you might not see all that many iridium ore nodes but that’s just why I like those three specific fish for the ponds after really late game I’d say the rainbow trout would be pretty good late game ish as well as the blob fish that is if you plan to get full hearts with every villager

I modded my Slime Hurch to be a Winery with extra space so I always go for it. With Automate, i just fill it with thousands of kegs and one chest for unholy amounts of money lmao

PRO TIP! YOU CAN PLACE THINGS ANYWHERE INCLUDING THE TOWN JUST SO LONG AS THEY AREN’T IN ANYONES WALKING PATH THEY’LL STAY MAKING SHEDS KINDA USELESS unless you like to decorate them then that’s understandable

I mostly have a fish pond for caviar, and one for squid ink, and then a couple for hard to catch fish if I need them for a recipe I want to make a lot.

    my standard farm has:
-silos at the far left of the farm near grandpa cause theres space for multiple
-absolutely humongous farm in the middle maximising sprinkler, junimos and space
-little farm to the right for coffee or flowers
    -machines under that
    -coop and barn under THAT
-a butt tonne of kegs at the bottom left
-the greenhouse next to the kegs
it makes sense i swear ill get sheds eventually

I like my nuclear silos close to my home too. Thank you very much

I always put my silo pretty far away from everything else, towards the bottom, because you pretty much never need to interact with it and I won't be expanding towards the bottom of my farm for quite some time.

Defending the slime hutch. If you manage to get a purple slime egg. You have a safe source of iridium

Maybe I’m being extra but I like to have my silo in an open area so I can build four fields around it and make it look like a cool little upside down flower

Tired: using fish ponds for money
Wired: using sea cucumber fish ponds to make Lucky Lunches for niche rare item huntung. (Also the Midnight Squid (for the most ink)+Midnight Carp+Flounder combo for Seafoam Pudding)

now, im not saying its insanely profitable, BUT
The super cucumber fish pond gives you passive iridium, im not passing that up, i dont like minmaxing the caverns

Slime hutch allows you to get slime eggs, which can sell for more than prismatic shards (tiger slime)
Fish ponds with lava eels can get you aged lava eel roe, selling for over 1,000 gold each. Fish ponds with blowfish can get you pearls. Ponds with rainbow trout (or something like that) can get you prismatic shards.
    Mill is useless.
Animals tend to be more profitable than plants, too.

doesn't have to be the most profitable farm, it just has to look pretty while making me rich + a way to satiate my hoarding

Personally I don't mind taking a bit of my summer and fall to grow 50 wheat over and over, makes making food for gifts and health items much easier than buying it from Pierre.
