I’m definitely Excited just looking at them. I’ve been using cobras and Pliers Wrench for a year now and it’s been life changing.
These just seem more up my alley. I’m a residential plumber and I’ve also got my pipe wrenches, I do enjoy the Knipex but I don’t know how useful the XXL would really be. Same for the Knipex cobra XL.
I am Glad to see they have a giant rapid adjust pipe wrench. I do not like adjusting two pipe wrenches when I’m working on gas lines, even if it is just once. I will pay the money to Just set my backup wrench As soon as I possibly can. Not having that additional handle swinging for no reason Could be the difference in a ditch or a tight space. It is still A small Tradeoff that a pipe wrench Takes advantage of but this is Seriously nice implementation of modern Tool construction.
They look like nice wrenches. Like a better designed pipe wrench. I can say for sure I’m gonna at least buy the 17 I will probably pick up the 21. I’ve got a 48 inch Steel wrench and a 36 aluminum for my Large shenanigan and Uhm yeah these will become the go to otherwise I assume, for gas pipe and the occasional stainless steel pipe.

Thanks for chiming in and sharing your personal perspective and job scenarios. Being that you are a plumber I think you stand the gain the most from these pliers. Agree that the standard pipe wrenches are nice to just set and forget but they have a trade off. They take a little extra effort to put on a pipe or fastener. They also tend to mar those pieces up much easier.
These S-jaw pliers can also be either pre set or quickly adjusted to the size you need. It’s a little cumbersome at first as the jaw function is reversed from say the cobras but once you train your brain it gets a lot quicker. The jaw on these is better than expected. If you find yourself switching from hex to pipe then square then I feel these will grip much quicker and tighter than your conventional pipe wrenches.
Now are they better than jumbo cobras? Not sure I don’t have a jumbo set but compared to my standard set they are probably a bit heavier and honestly the cobra quick adjust is a very light and intuitively smooth system.
Where these gain back their edge is price and warranty. You can’t beat a $20 set of pliers that you can warranty at your local store any day of the week. 👍🏻

That press button will give way long before the spot you thought needed welding. I have the rapid adjust Knipex and the cobras. Between the two the cobras are better, because they open wider and weigh less. But if you want the best, aluminum pipe wrenches win for being the lightest and no squeezing handles together while you torque.

Thanks for the feedback on the Knipex pliers. These icons seem to have their jaws but also have the older and heavier feel of the Swedish pliers. Funny you mention aluminum pipe wrenches. I compared them in my last video side by side. There are benefits to those as well but also challenges too. Give it a watch when you have a minute. Thanks again for tuning in. 👍🏻

The cobras will surprise you, after putting any pressure on the outside handle they no longer require squeezing. I often use a breaker bar with my cobras, on only the outer handle

@@MCKoolperson9 the cobras are very nice wrenches. These S Jaws perform very similar.

There's not much force being applied to the adjusting nut, I don't see that being a failure point, but I could very well be wrong.....
These are awesome for alignment adjustments! (Surprise surprise 😂)
