Actually Ji meditating is character development for him. Instead of bulling ahead, he's slowing down a bit. He's becoming more thoughtful before taking action. He learned something in Pandaria, I don't ever remember seeing him meditate before. Aysa being the chatty one, instead of being deep in meditation is also some development in that she's actively responding.

The Pandaren from actual Pandaria are mostly neutral sure, but my Pandaren from the Wandering Isle made a choice to leave the turtle and throw myself in with the Horde. We've journeyed with the Horde through Mists, Warlords, and Legion, and cultivated relationships with the other races in there, so I don't see how it makes Pandaren any less of a Horde race than say, Blood Elves or Goblins.
I hope we get some more Pandaren love in BfA, it's the perfect time to reintroduce some Huojin/Tushui story.
    edit: see Lukias

Someone argued with me on the forums that pandaren lore dictates that even the playable pandaren can only be peace loving and want to unite the factions in peace. He also argued that the playable pandaren could not have been changed or influenced by being part of the horde/alliance for so many years now and been through so many conflicts. And that the island pandaren in general could not have drifted culturally at all from the lack of the pandaren's most important social limiting factor: The Sha.
This is incredibly flat and boring characterization and i hope that blizzard doesn't agree with him and allows the playable pandaren to grow and develop personality.

I go on the opposite direction: Pandas SHOULD NOT be able to kill other faction's pandas in pvp (except battlegrounds, i guess). Ji and Aysa somehow reunites and decide fighting each other is wrong because of the same heritage they share so they make some kind of "alliance over the alliances" and decide that pandas do not harm other pandas on the battlefield.
During this year they have made connections and friendships among the horde and the alliance respectively so they still join them when there is a fight against another common enemy.

I think it'll be necessary for them to flesh out Ji Firepaw, if for no other reason than that Horde leaders are dying off left and right, and (unlike Alliance leaders) aren't getting replaced. He's a good character to pick to rise to the challenge, to be sure.

I love Pandaria and the Pandaren race. They're truly one of the main races that get fleshed out since Cata. From board games to farming, to everything else in their culture. You don't see this detail until WoD for Draenei, than the whole Broken Isles for Legion and ofc, Kul Tiras & Zandalar. I love fleshed out races and its one of the reasons why old racial & starting zones should be updated to add in more detail. Definitely would love to see Silvermoon City get updated and have more cultural things added to their environment. The environment detail done just for Pandaren alone is one example of what makes them great.
Then there's the teachings, the development, the 'lessons' you go through. I'm always wanting to roleplay my characters in any Pandaria zone because every time I go back there, there's always something new you learn or find that just makes Pandaria even more magical. There's something for everyone in Pandaria be it an adventurer, vacationer, scholar, aspiring chef, it's just pure amazing and a shame they're overlooked by Blizzard because of a part of the WoW player base decided to go 'ew oh no furries! what shall we do?!?!?!' >.

  • @dropje223

I do agree actuely. I don't really like the Pandaren and don't play one, I am a massive sucker for story/lore and I do find it a shame that after Pandaria as a whole. You don't hear/see much of the faction leader Pandaren. Would also made a great story now with BFA where the Pandaren are more forced then ever to either be Alliance or Horde and how some of them deal with that, or might leave

I started playing WoW at the end of Cata when I heard that Pandarens (and Monks) would be a thing. I main a MW Monk and I have since the beginning. Pandaren have been around for a VERY long time in lore, longer even than a few races, and though they lived in isolation for such a long time, the adventurers from Shin Zen Su HAVE chosen a side, we HAVE chosen a faction, we ARE part of the world. For the Alliance!

  • @justine8398
    @justine8398 5 лет назад

Little late to your party but never the less I can see your point but I have always loved the ability the Pandarens got which is to choose their faction as it spices up the gameplay and story progression facing your people in battle that you were once allied with is just as realistic as it gets. Its like Sylvanas, Alleria and Vereesa facing not just one another but their own people with new found titles like Blood Elves, Void Elves, High Borne which are all the same race just took different paths which in turn changed them, Pandarens I look at in the same way with the faction choice their allowed and with 8.2 you can choose to be a servent of the void now giving them essentially a third choice. Also Mogu have had presence in Zandalar as when you quest in Zuldazar Mogu are at pretty much every Troll structure in the jungle and I believe I've seen Hozen as well but no Jinu well at least until 8.2 basically when we get a jacked version of them with longer fins LOL. But your right Pandarens are a forgotten race which is kind of sad as the storylines laid of in MoP about them and their people were really good but I have also seen a lot more Pandaren venders in BfA at least its a start LOL.

Hey, Man...I feel ya! I've been an extreme Pandaren fan since their Easter egg appearance in the Warcraft III RTS and especially the appearance of Chen Stormstout. I’ve also had these thoughts you expressed in the video. I know WoW players in real life that scoff at me for playing Pandaren but I tell them that I stand by it. I’ve said to others many of the things you expressed in this video. Even if they don’t give them these things in BFA, from one Pandaren to another, it’s good to meet ya! I’ve subscribed. Going forward I'll still be playing Pandaren exclusively, on both sides.

If you played a rogue in legion you got some stuff with Taoshi
, wich was cool. But I have to agree. Pandaren is one of my favorite races, and sadly havent been seen much. in WOD you had like one or two pandarens that were part of a quest in Shadowmoon Valley. None in the other zones as far as I can remember. Legion had a few like you said, like eks with rogues, or a few WQ and what not on Broken Shore.
But with the other races of Pandaria, I have to disagree, Mogu's playes a small part in Zuldazar, and there is quite a bit of Hozen in Zuldazar aswell. Not many of those fish people tho. There are also Mantid invasions when you do those island thingy.
But yea. overall agree. Pandaren's need to be used more ingame, just because there are quite a bit of people who does not like em, does not mean they dont have a fanbase. Hell, if you count Alliance and Horde, pandaren is not the least played race. There are more Pandaren characters than Goblin, gnome, dwarf and almost worgen. atleast thats what the website am looking at says.

I always wanted race campaigns, kinda like in W3. They sorta did something like that for classes in Legion, so this dynamic of Alliance Pandaren vs Horde Pandaren would be a great story to explore in such campaign. It could even lead to some Sha again, those were fun new lore addition that should be revisited.

I pretty much agree with the points you bring up. I also wondered why Ji wasn't in the Horde cutscene if all of their leaders were going to have a feast. I tried playing a Pandaren but couldn't really get into it, but I've always really enjoyed the lore, appearance, and music of Pandaria. Ancient Chinese and Japanese culture has always been a huge thing for me and seeing it get representation in WoW was really neat. I've never really understood why the Pandaren get so much hate when there's things in the game that are 100x weirder.

Good video my dude, I don't have a panda but I always liked how they looked and I love all of the mists zones. They need some love, but I think as the "Tranquil" race, it makes sense they aren't voicing their opinions regarding the BFA. But I agree that it seems weird they were not big at all in Legion. For the race that is all about trying to calm the evil you think they would try to find the light within a legion commander and try to change their ways, instead of just causing a mass genocide like we did.

It would be awesome if finally there would be more with Ji and Aysa. What I really wish for Bfa would be that Chen,Rokhan and Rexxar would meet with Jaina again, like back then in Warcraft 3. I mean Rokhan amd Rexxar are in BfA again, Jaina plays a big roll, the only one who we need now is Chen.
Back to Aysa and Ji, I wish there would be more quests with them or that they play a bigger roll. I don't know if you already saw her, but I saw also Aysa meditaing on the alliance ship in Kul Tiras Boralus. Maybe she will play a bigger roll? Ji in the other side,I didn't play Horde, but my sister did and she said she couldn't find Ji. I wonder what he is doing now.
Also I'm glad that I found a RUclipsr who loves the Pandaren like me ^^

As someone new to WoW I really love the pandaren. I was having a lot of trouble finding a race and class I really enjoyed playing and so far my Pandaren Monk is easily my favorite. Not only because I just really love the Monk class but also the Pandaren story is just so awesome. Their opening questline is so much better than other races I've tried in my opinion. A second favorite would be the Worgen opening but overall I like Pandaren a lot. They deserve a lot more love than they've gotten.

I'm a pandaren shaman main on the alliance... In my opinion in addition to not having having them in important lore events it's also pretty annoying that they have a steriotype within the faction that every pandaren is a monk there is almost no pandaren npc who isn't a monk and I'm pretty sure the same can be said about the horde

As for the lore it makes sense but it also speaks volume to the bond the Horde has. I play mainly Huojin Pandaren and I always like the "Get stuff done ask questions later" attitude they have. The story does make it seem like Alliance would be better at times though I still prefer the Horde.

Half of that legwork is already done for both Ji and Aysa.

I feel like Blizzard is having a difficult time with the direction of pandaren. There's a conflict of interest between the players: Some want them to remain a peaceful race, others
want them to join in the faction war.
It also seems uncharacteristic of Ji and Aysa to wage war on one another. They are still good friends and even seen training cubs together in the monk class hall. They would need a really good reason to turn against each other since they clearly value their friendship more than their loyalty to their faction.
It's just a big mess for Blizzard. Should have just been a true neutral race lol.

Ima make a long post but TLDR: Pandaren shouldn't be used until blizzard gets their shit together and remembers to treat races besides orcs and humans as more than half assed additions to say "hey guys we included you now feel good because we remember"
Example though, Here's an issue I see:because blizzard is unwilling to make the Horde anymore than barbarians under a heel, and the Pandaren have proven to history they will not be slaves to the wicked. Not ji who was beaten by ignorant ass orcs because of his race. In the end they would get fucked over like all the good aspects of so many races, for a character people like for her edge factor. Under representation isn't just a pandaren issue, and i love Pandaren to death. It's an issue for anyone who isn't Orcs and Humans. Trolls DESERVE Zandalar, because it's been there so many years. Kul'tiras too I guess, bit it's not nearly ask interesting it unique. It's blizzard repeating the same thing again.
I know people may disagree here, but for the same reason im glad Pandaren won't be represented, I'm glad night elves won't be. Blizzard can't treat characters that aren't humans, orcs, or fan favorites well. They don't know how to use wise characters anymore. Just look at Malfurion : a shell of the badass from Warcraft 3. Pandaria was one of the last times blizzard has REALLY tried to do something different and exciting in lore. I don't want them to take what they made and ruin it with their lack of care now.

Lemme clarify btw: I really love a pandaren. I'm an RPer, and I've always had this desire to find a good place where I can RP a wandering pandaren brewer, exploring the world of Azeroth. I've dreamed of a whole area in Thunder Bluff and Darnassus welcoming the Pandaren, perhaps showing the similarities between Tauren, Night Elves, and Pandaren: the August Celestials seeing a race of changes elves and honorable Yaungol descendants in Kalimdor to know that even without them, the world still had grown. It had recovered and people of the past who failed had learned. Malfurion having been in MoP would have absolutely made the greatest moment in lore, druidic philosophy and love of nature on Pandaria. Hell, ive always wanted Pandaren to be related to Ursoc and Ursol, the dualistic bear gods of Hyjal who represent power: strength tempered by wisdom and Noble heart. However: races that break the norm of Warcraft are just unfairly looked down on. This issue about representation isn't just about the awesome Pandaren: it's about the heart and soul of the lore of every race. BfA is already solidifying the sad end I foresaw in blizzards writing to the beauty of Kalimdor. All the beautiful symbolism there, and all the deep lore... ruined because of lazy writers unwilling to let this universe breathe.
I know this seemed like an elf rant on a pandaren video, but for the same reasons I see elves have being ruined by horrible writers trying to use them, I do not want Pandaren just used. Not until blizzard remembers the spirit and heart put into these mystical lands and amazing races. Sorry for the massive post lol. Long time RPer, and BfA is just kinds crushing my spirit as someone who has loved this game for so long. I hope I'm wrong, and Pandaren are used amazingly! Here's to Pandaria, an expansion with writing that deserves far more credit than anyone is willing to give it. But to me... Battle for Azeroth, for them, can only be used to show the true pain of Azeroth. The illusion of separation that brings only blood and war. They are like ancient Kalimdor (at least, how it physically was lol) whole and united. To see them, a race almost representative of the last fragment of a distant world, some of the purest things of a past world have their ideas twisted and turned to meaningless violence... My druid will have trouble staying neutral after a world tree is burned, but to see that would be a true shame to him.

99.9% of wow's playerbase does not like pandaren. The recent developments in the world not involving them is proof of blizzards understanding that nobody wants them around.

Pandaren are awesome, but they should have stayed neutral. The whole thing with some of them choosing Alliance or Horde is just a gameplay convenience to fit in with the current factions without too much disruption. It doesn't make sense from what we know about Pandaren, though. I just dismiss it as shitty storytelling to accommodate the realities of how World of Warcraft is set up as a game - there are many MANY such examples of Blizzard doing this over the years.
There's a reason Panda get left out of the current storylines. They were hacked in to be a playable race and now Blizzard doesn't know what to do with them. They should have stayed neutral.

I'm 50/50 on the neutral thing I think the way they did it works fine but they just need to be clear that they are members of their respective factions rather then Chen Stormstout. Hopefully they do use them at some point because Pandaren are awesome. Thanks for watching!!

You know what? It could be very interesting! The pain, confuse, to be in a world of conflict, to have to kill each other because of orders from a "pacifist" people could be great.
