He already addressed this in a previous video, the issue with making a relatively small body of water (like this pond) really deep is theres not enough water circulation in those deep areas. This can cause a ton of low oxygen water to build up in those deep areas, and when the temperature becomes cooler in the fall all that deoxygenated water rises to the surface and can kill all your fish.

I apologize for any mis-comunnication, I didn't want to go into too deep of details in my original comment. could get boring real fast! A grate would have to be before the intake and anything small enough to keep fish out will just get clogged anyway. What he needs is a cage up top to keep out large debris like branches. I was so excited for this next installment of this series!!! The pond is coming along so well. Each time I watch one of these videos I become even more relaxed. Not sure why I’m so calmed by them. Probably the narration has a lot to do with it!! Btw who are the 13 people that gave this a thumbs down? What is wrong with you people?

Not sure if anyone’s mentioned this but be careful with the vertical standpipe, never try to go out and open that valve if a lot of water is already pouring in. The force around those can be really intense and will suck any kayak or boat right to it and cause more problems for your pond and your safety

I'm new to you tube. Seen a title about building a five acre pond, thought who does that? So I watched it and watched all your other videos, didn't know you were spending that kind of money on a couple of fish he he he! Your vids are better than National geographic! Thanks for the entertainment!!

Once the pond is filled up and has had time to settle and clear up, you should totally go snorkeling with a go pro and film some great underwater shots

Being that the throne is a root system, it is created too, and has been absobing water, for years. It's make up is to absorb. Therefore it will not float. The chemical make up of the throne is root made to anchor the tree. On a side note, you should check into setting up an auto fill system via the well. So, if you get a hot dry summer of little rain when the level gets to low the system triggers the well to fill the pond. Does 2 things. Keeps the water fresh and aerates the pond. You also should consider some type of an aerator to help circulate the water. Bait fish love bubbles! Don't forget the name " Water of Life Pond" (day 2 build comment)

I added standing canes to my pond and the fish really loved it . Put 10 to 15 or more in a bucket and fill with concrete . They last for years. Great surface cover as well .
