Adding Rocks and Structure - Overflow - Burning Debris - Pond Build Part 4

- Опубликовано: 11 сен 2021
- Time to Make fish habitat and get the overflow installed. Today we used the John Deere 755 compact utility tractor with my homemade log winch and log arch to pull out some logs that were in the way of finish grade. Then using Dirt Perfects 120 excavator, we end up burning some debris, adding some rocks or fish structure, and installing the pond overflow. Hope you enjoy!

Adding Rocks and Structure - Overflow - Burning Debris - Pond Build Part 4 Развлечения
Why are you Americans so insistent on burning? You are just adding to global warming & increasing the Co 2 in the atmosphere. Why can't you just use a chipper on the branches & the larger trees could be left in woodland areas to decay naturally & give insects & animals a habitat... So irresponsible..
Educate yourself on forest management.
I have... I'm a degree educated landscape architect & garden designer... The simplistic answer you have given shows you no educated response to a serious & relevant subject.
@@dannyjacewicz - I’m in Kansas City, 1700 miles away from the wildfires currently on the west coast. The last 5 days, the sun has been hazed out up to an hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset. I’m pretty darn sure that they wish that there wasn’t so much fuel on the ground.
Dame, I can sympathise with your current situation which is regrettable & extremely damaging. Capt kleeman is saying that it's forestry management, but he is not a forester & all he is doing is burning up what he sees as a mess. He is building a pond not managing a forest situation. The trees he has burned could have easily been recycled without burning. If everyone had his attitude then we compound an already delicate situation. He has not saved his area from any potential fire hazard, its just pure laziness & a lack of education.
@@dannyjacewicz curious what chipper you’re running that doesn’t produce CO2? Notable fun fact, decomposition also produces CO2. A less fun fact, 2021 wild fire season has already set a record high of CO2 release and the season isn’t over yet. Poor forest management, such as leaving dried out and excessive amount of fuels on the ground are one of the causes of uncontrollable wild fires. Proper forest management goes beyond planting trees and designing “gardens”. It includes making sure we aren’t maintaining a tinder box environment around forests. There are certain amounts of humus that are good for the forest and the wildlife there, but leaving piles of dead fuel this size would be the irresponsible move here. Hope your tomatoes are doing well
The limestone rocks and stumps are perfect for some fish habitat. Will have a nice swimming area as well. Can't wait to see everything green and the pond full!
When the pond freezes over in the winter, throw some Christmas trees one the ice in the shallow end. They make great crappie habitat.
Oh man….I love your spirit and ingenuity. Great times just watching you and participating virtually while building/repairing your dam.
Thank you!
Great Fish Habitat. Much Accomplished. Lots more to do, before the snow flies.
Weather is changing fast!
I'm watching Capt K get his pond sorted today so what's not to like.
Hey thanks for watching!
That pond came out amazing. The rock cave you built for fish habitat is genius
One question…where have you been??? Hope everything is well with ya. Glad to see you back in the comments!
@@CaptainKleeman I've been watching your videos, just haven't commented for a while.
Once you get all the finish work done Mike it's going to be a treasure a nice place to go and contemplate life keep up the great work and videos.
Our own little getaway spot. Thanks for watching!
If you are putting any Bass in the pond you should put some pea gravel closer to the shore line so they can lay there eggs and the gravel will protect the eggs. That bama bass pond is awesome. Your fire making skills are getting so much better lol.
Or are my editing skills getting better 😂😂
@@CaptainKleeman Maybe they are or you got Chris from letsdig18 to give you some pointers. Firemen are only suppose to put out fires not start them. Have a great day.
You were certainly rocking it today. What a difference moving a little dirt can make. Good choice on not using the single wall pipe. It would be nice to see it after the grass comes in and the pond fills. Looking forward to the upcoming videos.
We will definitely have update videos in the future
I'm at firehouse watching you finish pond. Looking good.
Hope it’s…QUIET! 😂
@@CaptainKleeman it was.
Thanks for sticking those stumps in there Bud! I never seem to catch fish (one of my brothers gets them ALL!) but I can always seem to catch a snag ;-).
Hey use this video as your advantage. You’ll know where everything is
Great Sunday morning video, it looks amazing. Keep up the great work
Thank you!
Commin along great Capt.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting close now!
Bamabass is awesome. Awesome of you to shout him out. I've followed his process. Now I'm following yours!
Hey glad you’re tagging along! He definitely has a cool thing going
Yes BamaBass built 5 acre bass pond. The rock formation is a fish bridge to keep a shady spot and the stumps will work for feeders. You can throw down a few gravel in spots for breeding grounds. Any way the pond looks amazing
Nice pond you got there it’s been a great watch
Thanks for tagging along!!
If you wanted to add something in the deeper parts of the pond build some pvc trees and place them in 5 gallon buckets filled with concrete to sink them. Nice projects though on this video. Thanks Captain.
Good idea, thanks for watching!
Dam fine job Mike !! 😁😎
Twice the size and twice the fun space !!!
You put the 755 through its paces, the winch log arch set up makes it a whole load easier, only tyres to create resistance 🤓🤓🤓
Amazed at how well that little setup works. Really liking it
@@CaptainKleeman
And better still, it is mostly all your own work too !!!! 👍
Ponds looking great. Have a great day !
Thanks Adam!
What a great job you did and with all the benefits of your friends helping out. Stay safe
Thanks Bruce!
Hi Hi Captain. Weekend greetings from Jamaica 🇯🇲🇯🇲. Wow let's get this pond finished 😊😊
Thanks for watching Lloyd!
You might want to lay down a couple of beds of pea gravel in that shallow area, to give the fish some place to make their beds to reproduce.
Pond looking good fish going to like them rocks
Hey thanks!
Cap'n, Once again, you've scratched my itch...The Pyromaniacal urges extinguished with a brush fire, Saw dust in the veins replenished by a little log arch action... Fishin' Fever reduced with those hidey holes... And, Sense of Adventure heightened by the near collision of the drone with the thumb! Well sir, I am now refreshed and invigorated... Ready to meet the day.... Fully prepared for whatever comes my way..... as long as it doesn't require work!
I got your message. The replacement handles are fully finished now. I will be putting together that video and posting it next week. I'm anticipating the trip to Derby like a Boy Scout preparing for an epic campout!
Glad you got to this point in the pond re-build before the rains started. I think the results are fantastic.... hopefully it will be ready to skip rocks when I come!
Fantastic! Should be a good time
Mike from an old 24-48 FF that went up to Asst, Chief (30+ yrs) You sure make my old 2 job life in the past look tame. I have been enjoying your channel for a while and look forward to seeing your adventures succed. Your problem solving is commendable, One word of advice Continue to pace yourself, Enjoy your family it's shorter to the end than you might think. Hpopefully we will see you and or your neighbor catch fish from this pond in the future.
Agree 100%. Goes by fast. What department were you on?
@@CaptainKleeman central Fla. The City of Palm Bay. Started out basically a tailboard FF. 40+ miles from where they send crews to space. Same county -Brevard county. In miss the Station crews, But not the polytricks. Several of My "Kids" are retiring & live all around where I retired to. What a blessing.
That’s gonna be a nice pond! Kind of a blessing in disguise when the dam failed. You ended up with a much nicer pond!!!
You’re right about that!
@ 8:28, that's why they make individual brakes 😁😁 Still a better deal to re-adjust the load when you can.
I have had to steer with the brakes a couple times on a hill I mow out in the hunting pasture. As long as the front tires stay somewhat close to the ground and I knew I couldn't go over backwards with the 3 point mower back there.
Brake steer only works if you have enough power 😂 definitely handy though!
Mike, 💯 amazing 5 ⭐ video love it I like forward to seeing the next one GOD BLESS y'all from South Carolina viewer 🙏❤️
Thank you Daniel!
It's looking "dam " good Captain!
Thank you sir!
Add more woody structure to the pond for better fish habitiat. Tree tops anchored down with rock/cinder blocks or trunks anchored down the same way. Studies have shown that ponds with more woody structure have better, healthier fish populations
Lets see, I watched Letsdig18 burn his pond project debris, I watched DP on his pond and now we have the capper, Captain Kleeman. I think you are leaving a very sweet legacy for all the young ones. They will say they remember when Dad built that.
Making memories is what it’s about!
Now you need to look into the blue pond dye. It will clear the water.
Captain great video, pond is looking great! Thanks for sharing. Kevin
Thanks Kevin!
Love that fabrication project too. If it was all shiny and pretty it wouldn't work right.
Looking good captain can't wait to see this pond full it will look awesome I think good job bud🏴
Thank you sir!
Prachtig gedaan top job 🤩🤚👌👍✊ Groetjes uit Holland 🥰👋🏼🌹🌹🌹🌹
It may not be pretty or elegant, but your log arch does precisely what you wanted it to do. I think it is a great asset.
Thanks Alan!
WOW what a difference Mike. Give yourself a pat on the back and everyone that helped a beer or 2. Stay safe and keep the videos coming
Thank you Paul!
Capt, that's one good looking pond 👍👍👍👍👍🤗
Thank you!
Easy to see that the dam is sure as hell compacted now! Looks really great. Well done. 🏴
Thank you sir!
Looking good, catch some River Bass to put in, they will do great.
Thank you mike!
looking good, the season for your agenda is tight good luck
Thank you!
I commend you for your ingenuity, your, engineering and your desire to get it done!!
Thanks!
Hey Mike here is a little DIY the next time you moving logs up the hill put some weight in your bucket for counter weight that will help keep the front wheel down. Good luck. Also have you though of a solar power Floating Pond Aerator Fountain to add extra air it the pond. I know some of them can be a little pricey.
Perfect Sunday Morning Educational Content. Appreciate You Having us Along For The Ride
Thanks for watching David!
Capt. K. You and Gerry did a excellent job sculpturing the contours of the dam. It's going to look great when full !!
Thank you Gerald!
If you have the time and machines i would throw some structure in the deep end as well, fish like deep structure! looking really good mike
Not a bad idea
Still impressed with you getting more out of that little JD tractor than it was designed for. I always thought I was a tractor torture-tester, but I'm beginning to lose ground. Time for another "hey guys, watch this!" moment for me. Was going to take the big tractor up to the new ranch this week, now I think I'll just take one of the 30 HP tractors, no sense having appropriate power to the job😜.
😂😂. That’s right!
As someone who was raised in Michigan and regularly attended bonfire parties where farmers and friends were using brush and tree clearing as the reason for the party the Captain doesn't do that with his fires. We always ringed the fire with a water moat for safety and absolutely no one was allowed to mess with the fire except designated trained people. Definitely one of my fondest memories growing up.
My family continues to hold them to this day on my uncle's property in Michigan.
Well, they did till he passed away earlier this year.
Only one rule other major rule at them.
Absolutely no political talk.
That will shatter a family like nothing else.
Especially these days.
Awesome video and no mirrors were hurt captain
Love it looking good gonna be an awesome swimming slash fishing hole.
Thanks!
The pond turned out perfect
i seen bamabass that crazy big pond lake he is really into his fish. the good old booster pack sure saves the work day. looking good. cheers captain.
Hey captain great video pond looking great can't wait to see it full love the chanle 👍✌️👌😎
Thanks ken!
SALUDOS KLEEMAN FROM CLIFTON N.J. ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS. G.B.Y. A.
Great job on the pond. One of my wife’s and I best parts of Sunday’s is seeing a new video!
Hey Mike just observation you may wanna steak down those stumps and get a few loads of P gravel and kind of make a beach the P gravel will also act as beds for the fish so they can lay their eggs
It may be something we add
Mike. You can rig up pvc pipe also as fish habitat.with larger pcs as the stumps and smaller sizes as limbs. Drilling holes to attach. And cinder blocks to weigh down We've done this in a buddies pond and fish love it
Good idea!
Looking Good Bud.. I install my overflow diferently. I run the pipe at the bottom of the dam. With a Cap and T with a stand pipe straight up. Put cap on the end of T. That way you can drain the pond if anything needs repaired or changed. You can cut stand pipe where you want the water level to be. But thats just how I do it. You did a great job on you pond. Great Video.
I’ve seen people do it that way as well. One of the main reasons we didn’t is didn’t want to have to drain the deep end to get it there, and if we ever need to drain it, we can always set up a syphon.
Lol watching BamaBass was what led me to search for other pond build videos and brought me to your channel!
You can see how large the pond is now ,it makes the machines look tiny.Great job Capt.👍👌❤️
Thank you sir!
The pond looks great I think you got it this time
Thank you sir
That is a great deal you have worked out with Mike. It really does benefit you both. Which machine would you want to own if you had your choice?
I’ll probably get a 210 tractor at some point. Then maybe a dozer.
Looking great 👍. I’m sure you will be very happy with the outcome..
🇺🇸🦅🌏⚓️🇺🇸
Can’t wait to see it full!
BamaBass is the guy I think you talking about, one mother of a pond, or in the UK a lake!!
It’s an impressive project he has
👍👍👍☕☕☕ Could you use the single wall on the end of the pvc out in the woods with just enough dirt to cover it and hold it in place. Have a great day.
Possible. But not sure that’s worth the effort.
Great video , Love your log moving machine, "Work smarter not harder" you nailed it. Your videos are great, enjoy watching all of them. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Andy!
Top job Captain.
Glad the pond rebuild is turning out so well!
Us too!
It's looking really good Mike.
Thank you!
The satisfaction that comes with a completed project is almost at hand. Great looking pond that will provide years of entertainment for your family and the neighbors.
Getting close now!
Firemen love to play with fire? Your videos are great, keep them coming.
Thanks for watching!
Good morning Mike I must watch this before I can comment .
Bonjour et bravo tu as bien travailler c'est bon le résultat est là formidable bravo 🤗😘🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵 de papy Gilbert de France bisous bisous
If you saw the bamabass videos, you should know what to do with that single wall. Section it up and make a pyramid.
Haha, true,. But his budget is a little more. Around here we can't afford to waste culverts like that
@@CaptainKleeman that's fair. Thought since it was damaged.
Now that's a good looking pond
Thanks!
God Bless you Caption
The unique devices you created and how many ways you have made that subcompact tractor effective just blows me away. Big props
Thanks!
Looks great ........a nice improvement
Thank you sir! And thanks for still being a part of the channel!
@@CaptainKleeman Always.....👍....unlike Danny " I have a gardening degree" Yankmeoff or whatever his name is
Looking good Mike I hope it didn't leak this time.. Stay Safe...
Thanks Ed!
Nice!!! The roller is called a sheep's foot.
Couldn't agree more on the culvert pipe. I wouldn't use single wall if it was free. That 8in will be much stronger over the long haul. Love the videos!
Thanks Matt!
Love the rock habitat, if I were a little fish that's 🐟where my door bell would be.from Florida,,,God Bless you and your beautiful family.
Thank you!
Very cool to see the pond build coming to closure soon. Learned so much and as always listening to you. The tractor and log hauler are an amazing tool combo.
Well done Captain!! Fish habitat looks good, fishie’s will enjoy. Love the drone shots, can’t say enough about those 👍🇺🇸
Looking good bud
Made a trip to derby this past weekend to see a friend and as we were touring around happened upon your place and saw this project. I wanted to stop in and see the steamboat cabin project but didn’t wanna bother you so decided against it. Maybe next trip over. Looked like you had lots of fun toys on site at the pond project.
Email me
Fish habitat placed and now I can exactly where all my lures would end up. 😂🤣
Looks great Mike. It will be a place you enjoy for a long time to come.
Don’t worry if the water doesn’t end up at your paint marks. When I was in Grade 8 we went on our year end camping trip and camped along side the St. Lawrence River to do day trips to Montreal and Ottawa. In the campground was a large concrete marker of where the river level was supposed to reach when the dams and locks were installed. The water came up short and that was done by engineers. 🤷🏻♂️
You make an excellent point there, even the engineers goof from time to time
@@CaptainKleeman
Often their mistakes are more expensive though.
@@Crewsy very true!
Pond dam looks really nice as does the pond. Solution to your steering problem, add a bucket of rock or gravel to the front of the tractor.
Yup, weight up front definitely helps. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Mike 🇺🇲 I really enjoyed this video 🇺🇲 another great job well done 🇺🇲
Appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching!
Your pond is looking great, good job Mike👌👌
Thanks Allen
you should cut up that single wall and make fish habitat like bamabass did. At least its a good use for it
Not a bad idea
Gr8 video keep up da good work tractor set up is for ur comfort the dam and overflow looking good can't wait to see the finished product god-bless
Do you think the Phil Etienne company will watch this for future logging techniques? Asking before we buy anymore Bear Hollow Mulch! - lol
pond turned out really well - you'll have to show us vids of when it gets filled and ready to stock. Ya done good - keep it up
We will definitely keep everyone updated
llok like you where playing checkers with those habitat stumps in your pond LOL!!!
😂
I totally agree with the other comments. The pond looks great. I really look forward to seeing your videos and the different projects you work on. Congratulations on the pond it looks like it will last for years. Stay safe
Thank you!
That looks like a workable log skidder and it didn't cost tens of thousands of bucks.
It does a pretty good job
That 5 acre pond you mentioned sounds like BamaBass.
Yup! That’s it
