Adding Rocks and Structure - Overflow - Burning Debris - Pond Build Part 4

  • Time to Make fish habitat and get the overflow installed. Today we used the John Deere 755 compact utility tractor with my homemade log winch and log arch to pull out some logs that were in the way of finish grade. Then using Dirt Perfects 120 excavator, we end up burning some debris, adding some rocks or fish structure, and installing the pond overflow. Hope you enjoy!

    Why are you Americans so insistent on burning? You are just adding to global warming & increasing the Co 2 in the atmosphere. Why can't you just use a chipper on the branches & the larger trees could be left in woodland areas to decay naturally & give insects & animals a habitat... So irresponsible..

      @@dannyjacewicz - I’m in Kansas City, 1700 miles away from the wildfires currently on the west coast. The last 5 days, the sun has been hazed out up to an hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset. I’m pretty darn sure that they wish that there wasn’t so much fuel on the ground.

    • @dannyjacewicz
      @dannyjacewicz 2 года назад +1

      Dame, I can sympathise with your current situation which is regrettable & extremely damaging. Capt kleeman is saying that it's forestry management, but he is not a forester & all he is doing is burning up what he sees as a mess. He is building a pond not managing a forest situation. The trees he has burned could have easily been recycled without burning. If everyone had his attitude then we compound an already delicate situation. He has not saved his area from any potential fire hazard, its just pure laziness & a lack of education.

    • @CaptainKleeman
      @CaptainKleeman  2 года назад +48

      @@dannyjacewicz curious what chipper you’re running that doesn’t produce CO2? Notable fun fact, decomposition also produces CO2. A less fun fact, 2021 wild fire season has already set a record high of CO2 release and the season isn’t over yet. Poor forest management, such as leaving dried out and excessive amount of fuels on the ground are one of the causes of uncontrollable wild fires. Proper forest management goes beyond planting trees and designing “gardens”. It includes making sure we aren’t maintaining a tinder box environment around forests. There are certain amounts of humus that are good for the forest and the wildlife there, but leaving piles of dead fuel this size would be the irresponsible move here. Hope your tomatoes are doing well

    As someone who was raised in Michigan and regularly attended bonfire parties where farmers and friends were using brush and tree clearing as the reason for the party the Captain doesn't do that with his fires. We always ringed the fire with a water moat for safety and absolutely no one was allowed to mess with the fire except designated trained people. Definitely one of my fondest memories growing up.
    My family continues to hold them to this day on my uncle's property in Michigan.
    Well, they did till he passed away earlier this year.
    Only one rule other major rule at them.
    Absolutely no political talk.
    That will shatter a family like nothing else.

    Pond dam looks really nice as does the pond. Solution to your steering problem, add a bucket of rock or gravel to the front of the tractor.

    That looks like a workable log skidder and it didn't cost tens of thousands of bucks.

    That 5 acre pond you mentioned sounds like BamaBass.
