I got into POE very recently. And i was super drawn into the cultural world building in the game. The Karui most of all. Its a joy to see such a well researched vid to delve into :3
Yeah impossible to get old dialogues and he's not really an NPC we can interact with anymore. Although I will eventually cover Betrayal, so he will be included there
@@KittenCatNoodle Oooh I can't wait for Betrayal ! I took a pretty long break of Poe between when the masters were introduced and Betrayal. So I missed nearly all previous master dialogue. Conceptually I adore what they did with Betrayal lorewise, but I missed most of the impact that it should have had on me.
15:58 So during the cataclysm, the Karui ended up plagued by nightmares that drove them mad, while black storms ravaged the surrounding lands according to Lavianga. I’m reminded by your Elder and Sirus videos and it might lend support to the theory linking the Elder and Sin’s Beast with both being associated with Nightmare. And then there’s also Sirus possibly merging with the Elder after being trapped with him. The first thing he does after escaping the Atlas? Using black storms to destroy Oriath.
The dishonoured Queen was Hyrri? I thought the Karui legion general was Hyrri unless they are both them with dishonoured Queen being the present day and legion being the past version.
I plan on including all Betrayal characters in their own video. I'd include Haku if he had any (current) voice lines. Probably should have added that disclaimer!
Thane is Karui? I didn't know that! 26:00 Nope. Logic "I want to fight slavery, so I will ally with the primal entity which wants to devour the whole universe" is not understandable by any means Pity that Navali is gone now
Well, Kitava can be the smaller evil for Utula and he talks about him as a slave compare to other gods, so we can guess, that Utula thinks that Kitava can get enough food.
The name sounds female! There's no real confirmation. Besides Lavianga being an advisor (seems a male position for Karui) and the lore document referring to Lavianga as "he", I can't be sure
Came here just to see how you pronounced 'Karui'. Very american it turns out haha. I'm not sure i can make it through this video. Really enjoying the series though!
@@glemmstengal The hard R is 'fine'. It's wrong, but tolerable. The wrong emPHAsis on the wrong syLAble, however, is not. You just have to listen to it said on the Act 1 writings. KA-ru-ee. @@PhotriusPyrelus I didn't understand about the "ideal" pronounce, but it's the first time, when I like my native language for very clear "R" in russian :D
I don't understance Kitava. If he is like a primal god like sin and innocence how was he even beaten and banished by the minor gods? Like it make no sense he is so powerful but the people that banished him aren't?
First of all, there is Sin and Innocence who helps you. Secondly, you have the power of the dark ember from the beast. So, semigod character + 2 primal gods > 1 primal god, I guess...
@@ArturFlintchannel I meant how was he originally sealed by the other minor gods? Not the player character, that I understand as you stated because you have sin and innocence with you. But the original story he was sealed by the other minor gods.
@@RexZShadow He was sealed by Hinekora, who probably is a primal God, I guess. And since Death seems stronger than just hunger... I don't know... P.S: Also, I know - 32:03
@@RexZShadow Not some minor gods, it was Hinekora herself who banished him. Plus, Kitava grows in power through consuming everything. The Kitava in the story depicts a much younger version of him when he and the others were still part of a tribe.
Such a cool lore behind PoE. Such a shame that GGG is absolute dogshit when it comes to conveying it so all that is just wasted and unappreciated and we need video like this to even begin appreciating it.
Absolute dogshit lol. If you bothered paying attention, more than half of these are delivered directly through dialogue with NPC, and that's discounting all the non-NPC narration that was still voice acted. You = lazy =/= GGG bad
Watching the part about Tane during ToTA league is wild..
Kids: Daaad, can we stop at Mc Donalds?
Me: Let me tell you the Story of Kitava.
Kids: Im sure we got bread at home.

Can't wait for expanded version. Trials of Ancestors is full of Karui lore, and PoE2 lore too ;)
I love this series with a passion, thanks Noods
So everything's changed when the Fire Nation attacked?
LOL yes
cool video, i love hearing about the karui
Interesting tid bit about Navali. If you play the marauder when you free Navali or greet her, he says I greet you Hinekora, Mother of the dead.
These videos are so informative . Great job!!!!
Angenehme Stimme, sehr gut recherchiert. Weiter so!
Seems that almost everyone was covered except Haku. I guess because his old dialogues are hard to come by or maybe that didn't add anything?

Your videos are outstanding! I have them playing as I play PoE.
Kitava is like that one friend, who eats everything on table while everyone was talking to eachother

All I can say is
Tala Moana warrior.

What about the haku?

Anyway, we have a lot of content to better explain the Karui History with the Trail of the Ancestors
I always wondered how the hell can minor gods like Tukahoma dominate a primal god like Kitava. Isn't he like x10 bigger? Lol.....

Will you be doing a lore series on the Conquerors of the Atlas?
That's the next one planned!
Is there kitava lore episode
My grandmother was named hinekura a maori name.
So is the beast related to the Elder?
Yes.
Wanted to find a video of all ingame voicelines. Great job on lore, but I'd wish you would keep original voiceovers when can.
