  • I love adding candles to a space to create a cozy atmosphere and freshen the room but did you know not all candles are made the same? Many are made with potentially toxic chemicals and synthetics fragrances.
    In this video I am sharing how you can make your own all-natural soy wax candles with essential oils, free from synthetic chemicals and fragrances.

    Candle making is a science, it takes lots of testing to come up with the right combination of wax/wick/fragrance oils to make a safe and efficient candle. Picking a wick that will perform with the combination of wax/fragrance oil is key for the hot throw, and safety. One other point I want to make is that most essential oils are not meant to be burned in candles, some of them are toxic to pets and should only used on aromatherapy that will not heat them just disperse the scent through the air.

      If the right wick (smaller wick) and container (a more narrow form) is used it shouldn’t be a problem…just use essential oils with higher flash points (over 150F) and more stronger scents.

    What measurements did you use when pouring the candle and oil?

    • @pineapplefarmhouse6873
      @pineapplefarmhouse6873  Год назад

      Hi Erica! I used 130 g soy wax and about 2.5 ml essential oil for a lightly scented candle, but you could add up to 7% off the wax weight in oil depending on your preference.

    Why doesn't my wooden wicks stay lite?

      Hi Gloria! I haven't tried wooden wicks yet but I want to because I think they look so nice! I will have to get back to you with anything I learn about that. In the meantime a I found this information online "Always keep your wood wick trimmed to (1/8 to 1/4) of an inch to ensure optimal burn time and flame height. Before relighting your candle, simply clip or pinch the burned portion of the wick, taking care not to get any ash into the wax. Only trim wicks on a thoroughly cooled candle."

    Hello dear how much fragrance oil in Oz will I need to make one 60z scented candle??? Once I know one I can calculate the rest

    • @pineapplefarmhouse6873
      @pineapplefarmhouse6873  9 месяцев назад

      I recommend calculating 6-7 per cent of the wax weight for a heavy scent, or just a few drops for a lighter scent 🌸

    Is there any other scent rather essencial oils to use and keep having a natural candle?

    • @pineapplefarmhouse6873
      @pineapplefarmhouse6873  Год назад +2

      Hi Juliana. I have seen other fragrance blend oils that are called natural, but you would have to read further into it to check they are non toxic.
