Outstanding workmanship Stuart. Just found your youtube vids and in heaven watching someone that not only can do the work beautifully, but can explain so novice makers can have a starting point. Just a weekend hobby for me, but the happiness to others when I give it to them makes up for the cost I put into them. Thank you for making the vids.
Stuart, I am learning a lot from your videos. I really appreciate the detailed explanation of the steps. I think I am really improving on my handles thanks to you sharing your knowledge and skill. I enjoy making the handles because the handle really defines the character of the blade. I've got knife fever. Can't get away from working on one in some way or another.
Hi Stuart I'm always amazed by your product and skill, I'm a blade smith from Australia and know how hard things can get but you make everything look so easy, truly an artist!! as always I look forward to your next video thanks for sharing your time/work and skills.. Scott
thats a beast of a grinder i dont have one that good so i start with a farriers rasp on the excess it makes things happen then i grind good video nice puuko thanks for sharing
Stuart, I am having a difficult time trying to shape a hidden tang handle. It is my first time trying one. I sandwiched copper between some African Ebony gaboon. The handle does not sit on the tang tight it has a bit of slop that I think can be fixed with epoxy. But I have know idea were to go from here. The rough shape is set just need to finish. Would you like to see some images or a short video in order to see if there is anything you would recommend? Thanks a bunch, Martin
Great little mini series of videos Stuart, always good to see a knife from start to finish. Good clear advice too whilst you're commentating! I always end up with little ridges/lips between two different handle materials, especially between wood then metal. Any way thanks for taking the time to film and hello from the UK. By the way what speed to you run your vertical grinder at? Cheers
Stuart, Thanks again for this. The very last picture showed the bronze guard and pommel much darker than they looked buffed. Did you blue them somehow - or was this a trick of the light?

I use a pewter black solution I get from a local art store. It's great for putting a patina ion Bronze
what do u coat your handles with? btw big fan, and greetings from chicago!!
MrSkzilla everyone has their own method or formula. I use boiled linseed oil which I rub in with four zero steel wool
