    In this solidworks tutorial for beginners, we will do a basic stress simulation in solidworks on an aluminum part and plot the safety factor to analyze the strength.

    how do you know the amount thickness to increase after seeing the factor of safety so as to avoid failing?

    I’m curious as to why both hole surfaces were fixed and not only the inside hole surface?

    Thank you! I was confused why factor of safety was completely red and how to read the chart

    Very Useful! Is it possible to test the maximum force of that system before the part breaks?

    I am an instructor creating new content for my class. I am trying to find a video that can show me how to test a part by adding forces to a surface to see at what LBF the part will fail. For example I have a part that I apply 85 lbf to a surface and the part has deformations from the get-go. So then I apply less force and the part still has the same amount of deformation. I apply less weight again like one lbf and still the same deformation. What am I doing wrong. I am assuming that the part would have shown less deformation with less lbf when running a new study. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

    How do you compare the difference of which design is better? Which value do we have to look when having this safety factor?

    • @HowitsDesigned
      @HowitsDesigned  3 года назад

      good question, depends what vale of SF your company or industry uses. I would select the design that maintains your company's acceptable value of safety factor (i.e. 2.5) and is easiest/cheapest to manufacture

    I have a u bracket . When I do the mesh , the vertical sides are not shown . It literally becomes a flat sheet . Any idea why

      what size elements are you using? Are you using curvature-based mesh?

    am stanislas an mech engineering student, please can you also make a video and explain how to run factor of safety on beams or joints, because anytime i try mine i do always have red all over. i was wondering meshing can be a factor ?

    Excellent...!!!! I have a question...let say that we have a bracket for a bookshelf (see cascadeironco.com/pages/how-to-create-open-shelving ) ....having a force P caused by the weight of the book, and then the other part of the bracket is against the concrete wall fixed at the concrete wall via a bolt...however...there are some part of the bracket (at the angle) that will receive a reaction force from the concrete wall (pivot point)...would you include that force as part of the external forces that need to be included ?...or there are other ways to do that in solidworks ? Thanks.
