Just go into the multiplayer menu and make a lobby? Is there a discord server where people organize games? It's an old game, and I have no idea, but I want to learn.
Shockingly you can just go into multiplayer and find a game or make a lobby. Anytime, any region. I have to give strong caution though, most players in the online while friendly are hardcore veterans and will show zero chill in a match.
It can be, but you're rewarded more for having better control. It helps apply pressure on the enemy with him backing up the command squad and you can always attach him to guardsmen to try and save him if he gets caught out or focused too much. Guardsmen might have good damage once you hit T1.5 but they're still fragile, any opportunity to force my opponent to micro and not be shooting at guardsmen is an opportunity worth investing in
Ah, just double tap the control group number on your keyboard and it'll bring the camera to whatever is in that control group! However with my hotkeys I can also go to my builders by just pressing spacebar so I don't need to group them

Also DoW is a little more archaic to where you can micro units in and out of transports in a fight to make them much harder to kill without sacrificing much offensive output.

I picked Guardsmen to learn as they had always been my favorite 40k faction, but I always just spam basilisks, and I suppose I was turret rushing too, but my micro is terrible, and turrets help alleviate that I just got to the point where I can reliably beat Hard bots in 1v1 or free for alls, but I don't think I'd stand a snowball's chance in hell against the people still playing this online publicly

The real problem is their Lord for he is quick and get's ressurected when he died. Necrons are mainly heavy infantry so technically you should focus on plasma rifles but in case of Imperial Guard, this is tier 1 weapon so it would be wiser to focus on expansion with turrets and guardians hiding in the bunkers. The rest of the Necrons are slow so range weapon focus works very well OUTSIDE of fighting their Lord. He might be still the biggest problem.
From watching RUclips videos, you need to tech rush vehicle to get chimera then use that chimera and few guardsman squad to harras the necrons in the early stage of the game, target their workers and generator

Hi, good video tutorial, it helped me to better understand the mechanics of the imperial guard. I wanted to ask a few questions: what mod do you use for zooming? Is it compatible in multiplayer? Why isn't the imperial guard used a lot in multiplayer? In the sense, i find it less than other factions and it is rare to see it in team games.
I have before but I just prefer vanilla. Ask and you receive, because degenerate turret rushing can't do it forever here is a general playstyle for Imperial Guard!

Naw just the camera mod for zoom and changed hotkeys, the game holds up well.
