I Bought a ROLEX PEPSI GMT Master from the AD (& How you can too)

  • So Rolex called me last November and I finally got allocated a Pepsi GMT after 3 years!
I also talk about if all ADs are as crooked & questionable.. are there exceptions?
Are Rolex still worth the hype? Are there other brands to look at?

Three weeks ago I bought an Explorer II from the Rolex AD at Istanbul airport. The usual exhibition pieces in the window, but I wandered in and asked if they had any watches for sale. They had a handful of mens/ladies Datejusts and the Exp II white dial). I tried it on, had a chat with the sales agent and bought it at list price less tax. Whole process took 30 minutes

Most luxury goods (toys) prices are dropping. Watches, boats, vehicles etc. Only the super rare collectibles stay strong but out of reach for 99% of population. When inferior products become desirable because of influencers, you know the industry is in trouble. You see this currently in the diamond market. Influencers trying to justify and push cheap, lab stones because they know prices are plummeting and they need to keep sales strong.
The positive for the watch market is that all these RolexA/P junkies are being forced to learn about and adapt to older, finer quality pieces and independents that were not relevant years ago. As a historic watch lover who is intrigued by advancements of “time “, there are positives coming. Steer away from companies that think they are to big to fail.
3rd & 4th quarter 2024 will be a great time to buy if you are patient and have cash on hand.

Nice video I enjoyed it. Back in 2005 while on vacation in Singapore I went to the Rolex headquarters to inquire about authorized dealers. A gentleman there gave me a card with a list of all of the AD’s. I went on Orchard Road and the first one I went to had basically every model in stock. I ended up getting a 16710 GMT master. I take it after watching a video that that is no longer the case? You cannot just stroll into an AD in Singapore and buy whatever you want like I did?? Btw I paid $3800 USD out the door !!!

I feel bad for all that have to go on these long wait lists..I started building a relationship with my AD about ten years ago..Always got 20% off on any Steel sports model I wanted. After about 15 Rolexes, I bought the Daytona white face ceramic in 2020 for $12,400 with zero wait (ADs always have models in the back, they will tell you they don't, but they do..for clients like myself.)...sold it 6 months later for $29,000.....Now any new model i want is mine because of my history. I Understand that telling someone to build a relationship sounds like its going to take forever, and it will for the most part, but if you are patient, you will get to join the club.
