Oled or not... 1440p monitors in higher price ranges are stupid. They will just milk the market and make people do stupid purchase decisions before the 4K 240Hz+ monitors will come down in price. You'll want as high of a resolution as possible so that lower resolution upscaled to the native resolution will look decent if your GPU can't handle the native resolution in a particular game while looking excellent in games where your gpu can handle the resolution. Not even 4K is enough for this. At 8K it would be hard to spot the issues lower res on higher resolution would cause. I'd say that 1440p is not a good middle ground but a bad middle ground by todays standards... Especially if they're not really cheap. I wanna see 8K oled monitors that can do 4K 240Hz, 360Hz at 1440p and like 500Hz in 1080p. I bought a 1440p IPS 280Hz monitor not long ago, but I regret it. I might just stick with my older 240Hz TN 1080p display instead... Why? Well if I'm after picture quality I might as well play on my TV. And for quick e-sports titles resolution or quality settings doesn't matter so there is my old TN good enough still. 1440p oled at 240Hz wont look better than games on my TV where graphical fidelity matters... But an 8K oled monitor would. Especially when upscaling lower res. The monitors need to be better than TVs in all regards since they're smaller. I mean the 4K oled monitors are probably up there in terms of quality compared to decent TVs but they're too expensive if you take their inferiour size into consideration. When the 4K 240Hz oleds cost around 600 USD I'd consider an upgrade from what I have now. Even if you're on 1080p 240Hz and own a TV, I'd recommend you to just wait. In games where graphics matters, a game pad is good enough or even preferes over mouse and keyboard I think. It's only in RTS or e-sport titles mouse and keyboard is essential.
