    I just had my first yellow dragon fruit, I’m am hooked. I ate it like the golden kiwi. Cut it in half and used a spoon to scoop it out. So sweet. Definitely plan to get more.

      So glad you tried it! Just don't eat too much at one sitting. It is a natural laxative, haha. I recommend just eating half of one at a time. I forgot to mention that in the video.

    I just bought both DFs yesterday at my local HyVee.. I'm going to try them later but it better blow my mind for how much they cost each!!. The yellow was about 8.50$ the red about 10$.. I got another one called, carambola?? I'm not a picky eater and these fruits look authentic pressing. Any hints on the best way to eat these fruits please let me know.. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to put them in the fridge so they are cool or eat at room temperature? I can see how to cut it but what texture and taste am I looking for so I know if it's not ready or bad,!!? And maybe ideas on what to mix them like other fruits or whipped topping? Or with or add to certain dishes? 😊❤️ For example I'm also making fufu for the first time tonight but couldn't find the cassava tuber so I had to get organic Yams and 2 green finger plantains.. but would these fruits go good with fufu and soup or is this a dessert thing.
    P:S I'm so sorry for the long post! I thought one more question. Can my 14 month old girl and 3.5 yro son eat these fruits or are they not good for kids,?

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  Год назад

      Yes they are super expensive! The carambola or star fruit is awesome. I have a video on those as well. ruclips.net/video/sMv0kM6jMNU/видео.html They can be stored at room temp before eating. Try them raw as is first, to best experience the fruit. Then they can also be added to smoothies, fruit salad, etc. I don't recommend these fruits for young kids, but that is really a question for your doctor.

      The outer skin will be bright and even colored, if it is yellow, there shouldn't be many if at all any green spots. Except at the points. They won't ripen much after harvest, so chances are if you buy them at a market they will already be ripe enough to eat.

      Or it is possible it is not ripe enough. I have bought them several times now, and they have all been sweet. Did you get the yellow one, and not the pink one? The pink ones aren't very sweet.

      @@Sar-ahG there are two main types of dragon fruit the one shown in this video and the one shown in this other video ruclips.net/video/5-zK4-ewKuE/видео.html. Sounds like you had the latter. The one I show in this video when ripe will be all yellow and the flesh will be gray. Much sweeter. :) Either way, Dragon Fruits in general look cooler on the outside than they taste, haha.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  3 года назад

      Just because I don't say wash the fruit first in the video, doesn't I mean I didn't wash it. That is a given. :) But, it doesn't matter then much if the actual fruit is on the inside as it does with let's say an apple where you also are eating the skin.

      @@inthekitchenwithmatt this is not true. Especially if the produce is grown with chemicals (EVEN if they’re organic). When you cut through with a knife you’re passing those chemicals AND/ dirt into the part you’re eating....

      @@DN888-1 Reread my comment. I said it doesn't matter as much as it does with an apple for example. And I also said, that just because I don't mention pre-washing/rinsing your fruit, that it doesn't mean you don't have to do it. Sure there is always a chance of getting unwanted dust/dirt, chemicals on the inside of the fruit. When in doubt rinse/wash the outside.
