    Hope you guys enjoyed the video and found it helpful with your studies! Or at the very least...help you play Ni No Kuni / Yakuza games hahaha

    You're probably my #1 favorite Japanese learning resource channel on RUclips. Osaka has become an unexpected 2nd home of mine. I love that I came across this video!
    The first kansaiben I remember really charming me was seeing a magazine in Yakuza 0 called BIPPIN (in romaji. I was playing it with my then-girlfriend and we were bawling laughing when we found out what it meant. Totally makes sense, it sounds *enough* like "bishoujo", but it's such a fun word.
    My *favorite* kansaiben I was taught is definitely いい夢見ろよ. Took me days to get the pronunciation down (especially because we were always out drinking), but there's nothing that makes me happier and want to be back there more than running into someone from Osaka and leaving off with a big「あばよ!いいぃぃぃぃ夢見ろよ‼︎」

    Just started getting into the Yakuza series and stared with Yakuza 0. Absolutely fell in love with Majima's accent, as one tends to, and found that 関西弁 is easier for me to speak. Great video, 100% will be watching more of your content.

    The way Kansai-ben differs from standard Japanese is quite similar to how my Norwegian Bergen-dialect differs from the more common Oslo-dialect, so I've always felt a certain connection with it. Hopefully I will get the chance to study somewhere in Kansai later in life so I can learn it ^^

    Wow, watching this I noticed how much the yakuza games have influenced my "default" vocabulary in japanese. Out of these words, by default, I use: Akan, Chau, ee, honma, meccha, ya, de, na. Interesting.

    Another youtube channel I love watching, partly for immersion and partly because I love watching people cook, is 料理研究家リュウジのバズレシピ . I didn't realize ”めっちゃ” was 関西弁!
    That channel by the way is Cooking Expert Ryuji - Buzz Recipe. I found him because I wanted to try making croquettes and hamburg.

  • @matthewdavis9437

    Okay, so you got something wrong here.
    It's not kansai-ben to change ii or oi from a word to ee.
    It's just slightly more masculine speech.
    kakoi -> kakee
    urusai -> urusee
    etc.
    ---
    Another note: meccha has, like you said, seen usage all across Japan. It's no longer exclusively kansai-ben.
    You forgot another standard word that is used: sugoku. Not just totemo.

    • @GameGengo
      @GameGengo  9 месяцев назад

      This all came from Japanese written Kansai-ben learning resources, made together with a native Kansai-ben speaker. I never said that it was exclusive or particularly of any origin historically, just that it is used in the Kansai dialect, this is all literally from Kansai-ben Japanese written resources.
      That being said though, feel free to add any extra info you like, but I don't see anything to say is 'wrong'.

    Hey, can someone give me the names of the games featured in this video? I know Ni no Kuni, but what was that historical samurai one that probably takes place in Kyoto. I suppose the modern one is a type of Yakuza game? They seem excellent to study Kansai-ben.

    Jk, thank you for this video! I was actually watching a video from JapaneseAmmo on this dialect just yesterday, so the timing was just perfect, haha :D
    I got to be honest tho, this goes way over my head; way to advanced of a topic - but were interesting nonetheless and your explanations were great!
