My local town, where I go to shop (in Arizona) I estimate that on any given day about half the people in the grocery store are armed. But may 1/4 of them open carry; most people carry concealed. Nobody worries about it either way.
I used to have 9 pistols, 7 rifles and 2 shotguns...but they were all lost in a terrible boating accident 😁😂. I also have almost as many bibles...and I HAVE read Pride and Prejudice 🧐

Saw so many men dressed casually in Italy, just outside of Rome. Full on tshirt, basketball shorts, and baseball cap. 🤷♀️ I also own 3 guns. 2 are kept in the safe, one is a shotgun.
I own two vehicles. My sedan I drive the majority of the time. However, since I live where there are no services, I have to haul my own household trash to the landfill. In addition, the snow is often too deep for my sedan. On such occasions I drive my 4x4 pick-up truck instead of my sedan. As a hunter in Alaska I own multiple firearms. I use pump-action shotguns for hunting bird, a Springfield .3006 rifle to hunt Caribou, and a Remington .300 Win. Mag. to hunt Moose. When I go fishing I also carry an AR-12 and a back-up .44 Mag. revolver for protection against Moose and Bear. Like all my other tools, every firearm has a specific purpose.

Therefore, my camp gun stays on the river bank while I fish wearing my back-up Ruger .44 Mag revolver. I also keep a string of lady-finger firecrackers in my tackle-box. Essentially if you took EVERY military in the WORLD COMBINED you would have about 150 Million guns. The United States gun owners have 700 Million that we KNOW OF.
100 million gun owners in the US owning as many as 400 million firearms. They aren't going any where. Yes I am an owner and yes I take the right seriously.
The US is much larger. Many people live in places with lots of space. Many of us prefer it that way. Electric vehicles are impractical. You have no idea what most people have for firearms. But it’s always possible to find out the hard way.
Remember that guns are durable and can be useful for hundreds of years. Guns are handed down from generation to generation with each generation also acquiring new models of guns that they prefer over the guns that they inherited.
Another item far more likely to be owned (and displayed) by Americans compared to Brits: a national flag. Many houses in my neighborhood--in progressive Northern California no less--have flagpoles or otherwise display the Stars and Stripes on civic holidays. From what I've learned few Brits display the Union Jack at their homes.
That's beacause we have our monarchy who represents us , you pledge allegiance to your flag we do not . Plus comes from you being a new nation compared to Britain , maybe we've outgrown it or it just was never a thing 😊
On the topic of how many households in the US has guns, the estimates are all over the place as many people that own guns don't want to admit it on surveys for a number of reasons, number one of which is that you never know who is asking and they may be interesting in making a list of places to rob, or making a list of gun owners in order to know who to confiscate guns from if they are able to pass various anti gun laws.
They've actually done surveys and found a lot of people will earnestly report they do not own a gun and state that they are "anti-gun" while actually owning guns. Because it has become a political issue some people will "identify'" as a non gun owner even though they do intact own one or other times they forget that they do in fact own a gun, usually grandpas pistol or shotgun in the closet.
@@JPMadden don't know anyone in my part of california that doesn't open carry rifles and you know from the sounds of shots that outside of shotguns pistols are the most common firearm
You have to keep in mind that religion / Christianity is becoming increasingly unpopular in Germany (I can only speak for Germany) and far fewer people go to church than 20 or 40 years ago. If the churches remain empty, they will have to be demolished at some point, as maintenance is far too expensive. Therefore, it is actually a good thing if the churches continue to be used, even if it is not used for the “actual purpose”
I have a pickup and a car, i I have 2 large (120 pound), I have dozens of rifles, shotguns, and hand guns( i carry one every day btw), I have 3 bibles(some states accept your name in a family bible as an ID), went to the gym for years(now im old😅), my GF works from home and wears sweatpants to work), i have 3 toilets, one on each floor. We also have freedom and BBQ...
Born and raised in California: Bought (or was given) most of my Bibles there (I lost count), and have bought a couple more since moving to Texas. My first firearm was a handgun I purchased in CA, as well as a shotgun, then another handgun and an AR15 in AZ, then a long range hunting rifle in WA, then another handgun in MI, then another handgun in CA, again. I'm looking to buy a new hadgun tomorrow here in TX. And I recently inherited a handful of guns from my father. I think that'll put me around 13-ish firearms. Dang. I need a safe.
I am a life-long bachelor with two cars (plastic SATURNS, which most people outside the US and Canada will never see in person) and one revolver. No bullets though. I'm fine with that. And I have three Bibles, one is in German (from WEST Germany, bought on a vacation in the summer of 1984). And a fourth Bible on my smart phone, but text search capabilities are poor.
I live in North Dakota, with lax gun laws(like practically none). And everyone out here in rural areas has multiple guns. But you rarely see them. I’ve haven’t seen anyone openly carry a gun ever. But it’s very very safe and crime free, so no reason to carry them out in the open.😊
My cousin comes to Alaska to fish. He noticed while fishing that many of the locals were open carrying pistols. He asked why, and the fisherman matter-of-factly told him, “The bears like fish too”. He suddenly saw the wisdom in all of the guns. Fun fact: some bears have learned to wait for a person to hook a big fish then just charge in and take it.
@ archeological fact and other documented sources have proven they are not fairy tales. And to answer your sarcastic comment, ~16 million Jews believe in the Old Testament and the historical existence of Jesus Christ, ~2.4 billion Christians believe in the complete Bible and ~1.9 billion Muslims believe that Jesus Christ was a healer same as described in the New Testament. So ~55% of the global population care about those collections of writings.
Also, gang members don't buy guns legally. They typically have illegal firearms purchased from shady back-alley gun runners from Mexico. The reason you don't see guns often is because most sane, safe, and legal people either have them in a safe at home or carry concealed for self-defense. Nationally, ~5% carry a firearm outside of their work duties (security, military, and law enforcement types), and ~60% of those conceal their firearm when they carry.
I own a "few" firearms that I keep in 4 safes and some of them aren't registered with the government ( it's none of their damn business ) and there's many people like me
The house I grew up in had one bathroom. Other apartments I have lived in had one. One apartment had 3. The small house I live in now has 3 bathrooms. Only two of them have a shower. One just a toilet and a sink to wash up in.
It depends on where you live, but open carry is usually a very bad idea in many areas. You tell criminals "Hey, I've got a gun if you want it!" I've seen a number of Active Self-Protection videos of guys getting killed because they had a visible gun. I remember one open carrier going into a gas station, and the criminal walked up behind the guy and simply took his gun. Now a previously unarmed bad guy is armed and a previously armed good guy is unarmed. In areas where there isn't much crime (Wyoming, Montana, rural areas) open carry is good for bears and pumas.
@kurt1391 I have Open Carried daily from Seattle to Boise to Vegas to Phoenix with no problems ever going on my 29th year doing so. Open carry is safer overall over concealed carry by my experience and statistical analysis data. You can look like a personal gun free zone (concealed carry) and be an easy looking target or you can open carry and present yourself as a hardened target not worth engaging. Remember, criminals are not super ninjas, they are looking for victims that are easy targets with low personal risk and high rewards.
I can honestly fit about 35 cars on my driveway, about 6 on the pavement and 29 in the driveway leading from the road to the paved part that leads into my garage. Now when I was young we had about 250/300 car’s parked between the driveway and yard for a 10 keg party I had and normal parties usually 150 cars. Usually 200 people and big parties were anywhere from 300 to 700 people. I now own and live in the home I grew up in. My photo shows a small little portion of my yard with my daughter riding on the tractor with me while I mow. I only took her with me for 1 pass.
I hadn’t thought of it as a luxury, but I’m single and bought a big house that has three toilets. One of them is broken and I haven’t had to rush to fix it.
I have seen homes with 2 to 4 toilets. The 3rd or 4th is likely not to have a full bath. Some have, either a sink, toilet, & shower or just a toilet & sink alone. Apartment's only have 1 toilet, sink, & bath. In large cities, youre more likely to share bathrooms with neighbors.
Depends a lot on what he means by British “people”. The largest private collection of firearms I’ve ever seen was the one belonging to a member of the House of Lords. I guess rules about firearms in Britain are intended for the general public, and aren’t enforced the same way if one has a lot of money.
What’s interesting is that concealed carry used to be very common among British upper class gentlemen, especially Londoners, while concealed carry among Americans at the same time was considered taboo and something only a shady criminal would do, and that honest men should carry them openly, though that was uncommon in the Eastern states and metropolitan area at the time.
In the entire neighborhood where I live I don't know of any house which has a single car garage. Everyone has at least a two car covered garage, and many have space for three. Some even have an enclosed space for their class A motorhome.
Montana has no sales tax on new vehicles and low registration charges so it is worth it for many people, especially owners of relatively expensive vehicles to form a Montana based LLC and register that as the owner. So there are some "Montana" owned and registered cars and trucks that do not ever go to Montana and the owners don't live in Montana.
(5:12) That is a Chinese SKS. A semi-auto (one shot per trigger pull) rifle with the attached, under-barrel, bayonet, chambered in 7.62 x 39. I own one.
We have guns for hunting small animals. Large animals. For skeet. For competition. Practice. Try out a gun at the gun store to see if you like it. We have giant gun stores.
Hi we are allowed guns in the UK but not for home protection. Farmers , police units , armed forces , shooting ranges and that's it I think . We do not have your 2nd amendment so it's just not a thing here 😊
The gun averages are skewed by those that hoard guns. I remember in college we were visited by a couple federal agents of the ATF doing a presentation. One student asked what the largest number of guns they'd confiscated personally. One agent described raiding the home of a millionaire and taking away over seven hundred guns just from that one man.
Just my wife and I: I work from home, so don't drive for work. 4 vehicles 3 Toilets 2 dogs(Huskies)... our girls, yes they received Christmas gifts. This gentleman shows a lot of insight into the American culture. The car is certainly a ubiquitous staple of American life. Even poor people own an old beat up car. I think this car culture is attributable to the fact that our country is large and there is little public transportation. Years ago I was in chat with a woman from Ireland. She said she would love to travel across America in a bus. That would be a huge mistake, because the bus riders usually don't own cars. As such, one comedian described a bus as a "mental ward on wheels." I've often seen the phrase online or on tee shirts "God, Guns, and Family" or maybe more often "God, Family, Guns." which typifies the strong adherence to and prioritization of these three things within American life. So, I would say his assessment is spot on. In the United States, along with many American gun owners, I find the concept of proving a need for a gun insulting and almost offensive. As a law-abiding citizen, I should be able to purchase as many guns as I want (budgetary restrictions implied), because I'm not doing anything wrong with them. So, I have more than a couple of guns and also more than a few Bibles. I do not, however, own a pair of sweatpants. I think this fashion, if you want to call it a fashion, is a testament to the informality of the American culture. Everything is informal here, from clothes, to language, to common gatherings and events. Pardon the verbosity, but one last thing. Back in the 1800s, a man filed a lawsuit against another man who had shot and killed his dog. From that court case, we have the expression "a dog is a man's best friend." The dog's name was Old Drum and his statue is on the courthouse lawn in Warrensburg, Missouri, a town which is also home to my collegiate alma mater. I really enjoy you videos. I appreciate you sharing with us.
The numbers, all the way round, might be somewhat skewed, some of us own a lot of guns, and some don't own any. As to bathrooms, my own home has three, but it was built for a good sized family. Two full baths and a "half-bath" sink and toilet downstairs for guests and just washing up after work or watching the tellie. We do like our luxuries!
Im in North Carolina where you can “open-carry” a firearm without a permit, or “conceal-Carry” with a permit. Some 34 states have “constitutional carry”. Where no permit is needed at all. I have around 15 firearms in my house. Different purposes for each. Obviously you can only use one at a time. I have a long range hunting rifle, short Range deer rifle, a small caliber for rabbits and squirrels, a shotgun for hunting and another for skeet. I have one for shooting coyotes (which are not native to nc). I have a pistol for concealed carry in shorts, and one for when I am on security. I also have one for competitive shooting at the range. My 6 kids all received a rifle for hunting small game at 12yo. All firearms and ammo are stored and locked separately.
Oh, and I have a pickup truck (I work in construction), an SUV to transport my large family around in, and a jeep. I also have around 6 bibles (my kids and wife also have their own) in various translations and languages, and that doesn’t include the theological commentaries, concordances, and supportive study texts or even other religious texts for other religions. It takes up a 5’ high by 6’ long bookshelf in the study.
@@claregale9011 the reason we have the second amendment is because King George sent troops to concord, Mass to confiscate our firearms, powder, and shot. A militia opened fire and turned the troops around. Private ownership of firearms has never been about hunting. Its about being able to form a militia at a moments notice to defend against a tyrannical government. We have been confusing the brits on this since 1776, so nothing new if you all think its strange.
@@oneauthenticman im not one of those who believes you should not have guns at all but maybe some changes need to be made on who can get their hands on a gun . I do respect its a way of life in the US and its in your constitution and seen as part of the American culture, still does not make sense not to tweek a few things for the safety of all.
Guess I'm a typical American. 2 full and 2 half baths, more guns than I can comfortably carry out to one of my cars for a weekend at the range and am currently wearing sweat pants. Have a 'gym' in the basement. I work in a typical office, perhaps a 60-40 split male and female, ages from mid-twenties to 60's and everything in-between. About half of us openly talk guns, trips to the various shooting ranges in the area and we even do lunch time skeet trips as an office (2-6 people at a time) during nicer weather.
Millie one thing I would like you and James to react to is College Cheerleading competitions. These young men and women are true gymnasts. Something I believe you would like.
Americans can own guns because we have a constitutional right to own a gun. Our Constitution limits the governments ability to decide our right to self defense. Brits don’t because they have to get government permission to own a gun. The government has decided that you have to demonstrate a need other than self defense to own a gun and they then decide if your reason is “good enough”.
Laurence hasn't driven in LA. As for the dogs, your smaller gardens just isn't a fair enclosure for many dog breeds who like to run. American's acres of farm land is perfect for dogs. Curiously, it is the lack of single home housing that is probably why the French bulldog has surpassed the hyperactive golden lab as America's favorite dog.
I currently own 3 cars, my truck, my 1985 Mustang GT, my dad's old 2008 Chrysler and I am looking at purchasing my mid-life crisis Corvette or Daytona Coupe kit car. I think with cars we tend to treat them like shoes, albeit expensive shoes. Same goes for guns.
Let me clue you in why people own different firearms…..they do different jobs. A shotgun does not do the same thing as a rifle. A pistol is not a replacement for a rifle You aren’t going to intentionally go moose hunting with a .22lr,. The .300 win mag you hunt the moose with going to vaporize the ptarmigan that you hunt with the .22 Think of them like a set or screwdrivers. Each one is used for a different size or purpose
I've had 2cars for over 8 years. My dad has had 3 for the past 10+ years we both have a truck and a car. Truck for moving stuff/supplies and car for daily driver. As for guns, I have 3. Two pistols(one is an old revolver and other is modern) and a semi auto assault rifle. Shotgun is next. We've had a Winchester in our family since before my dad was born. I have more than double sweatpants and pj's than I do have pants/jeans lmfao. Loved the video :)
I’m single. I have one car. If I were married, we would most likely have a car and a truck or van. That way, if we wanted to haul things, we wouldn’t have to rent larger vehicle than a car.
Regarding the ownership of firearms in America? A few things that aren't often disclosed/talked about, regarding the 'Numbers,' is this- 1) If America has (Just a guess here), 380 MILLION Citizens, a great many of them do not own any firearm. By 'Great,' I'd go so far as to say upwards of 30%. Out of the 70% remaining, I'll guess that at least 20% of them may own one/two firearms, but rarely (If ever?!) train with them. So, this means 50% of the Country are the ones truly owning, training, using our Second Amendment. As an American/USMC Veteran, this percentage makes me cringe, because it means fewer of us know what and why our 2A matters. 2) Firearm owners cover a wide range of people and 'Hobbies.' From hunters, competition/target Shooters, hikers/campers who merely want to be safe while out in nature, and then everyone else who simply loves going out plinking with friends and family. Given all the different styles, it's hardly surprising that most of us own a wide variety of firearms. No single platform can do everything, after all. 3) Govt. doesn't even keep track of firearms 'They' deem are 'Museum/Collectable.' This means firearms manufactured/built pre-1950 (The actual year varies, so again, merely an educated guess/presentation here) aren't even known, much less counted. I inherited Papa's M1 Garand. It functions perfectly, and is just as effective today as it was when it left the manufacturer, decades ago. Then there's all the black powder platforms. 4) All of this doesn't even touch on every 'Other weapon' people own. Archery is most known, but there's a ton of others, some 'Legal,' some, not-so-much, but in a Zombie Apocalypse, they're good things to have and to know how to create! Bottom line is/always has been/always will be- The world is not 'Safe.' Bad people/things exist in it, and they will do harm/death to those who cannot stop them. Far too many expect 'Government' to keep them safe and alive, and if they haven't learned better by now, after all these years, they never will. Scary? Sure, I can see that. Learn, train, and know what they are, and why they're one of the best tools you could own, and you won't be scared of them, ever again.
I have a bible, I bought it when I was a teenager. I'm 70 now. Of course, I'm a bibliophile and throwing out any book is almost painful. I'm not even a christian.
The laws are horrid in the UK. Self-defense must be proportional to the attack, so if someone pulls a knife in your home, and you use a shotgun, you could wind up in prison.
Millie- we know Moo, but what are the other dogs' names? Years ago, my family bought a three bedroom one bath house and the first thing my parents did was add a second bathroom. They did not renovate the kitchen for 20 years, but we all agree that adding the second bathroom was the better choice for everyone.
Believe me, there's little for Europeans to be jealous about America these days. It's not the America of 60 years ago.....or even 30 years ago. As a European I think, thank god I'm not American now. But I have never once wished I was American. Never. I love my own country, despite its own many faults.
They leave a lot of context out of some of these, while you will see people wearing sweatpants outside of athletic and outdoor activities it is a thing young people, and low class people mostly do.
🐺 Here in Texas I'm thankful Governor Abbott got the law pass were Texans can open carry or concealed carry with out having to have a permit I got my first permit to carry back in 1980 and been carrying every since heck I feel naked if I don't have my 357 magnum strap to my hip lol as bad as things getting these days it doesn't pay to leave your home unarmed. But I reckon we can thank Biden for that. But I still love my country especially Texas I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Y'all stay safe and have a wonderful and glorious new year. 🇨🇱🦅
Actually we have the Brits to thank for our second amendment. It was an old English law that able bodied males be equipped and competent in use of a weapon thereby forming a militia. This freed up the main armies to campaign else where. This tradition was brought here for obvious reasons. Firearms provided security against local threats and crime, provided game for food and could be a deterrent against foreign incursions. The same is valid today here in the US. There is plenty of organized crime, people hunt and fill their freezers with meat, and with open borders there are unfortunately potential foreign threats within our nation. All 3 main roots are still valid here to this day. Most people aren't aware of the second amendments origins. Or traditions that lead to it.
@ lol you Americans never shut up about freedom. We all have it. The amount of RUclips videos I’ve watched Americans living abroad, entitled ‘ lies America tells us’ they without fail say ‘ what freedoms did I have in America that i don’t have here?
Now, I don’t have a dog or gym membership, but I do have more than 1 car, 2 toilets, 3-4 sweatpants(mainly just wear around house), multiple Bibles, and multiple guns. Yes, I’m a typical American. God bless the USA.
The U.S. is the ONLY country on earth that has the right to keep and bear firearms and this is for a reason. Like everything else in the First 10 U.S. Constitutional Amendments (AKA The Bill of Rights), they were written to counteract perceived wrongs dropped on us by the Crown in the 1700’s. No stationing/quartering of troops in private homes. No official government religion like England had, Banning Unreasonable search and seizure. The right to a trial by a jury of our peers. No cruel and unusual punishment - “stocks and other medieval torture in the town square for ye rebellious subjects”. The guns was because the first thing King George did when America declared independence was to order the immediate seizure of all of the military weapons at the weapons depots. The Americans thus handed out weapons to everyone as it would be impossible for the British to come to every single home. And in fact, as f’d up as our gun violence problem is, anyone who wanted to come in and take over the U.S., or a tyrannical fascist, will have quite a time forcing government compliance when everyone’s armed. Imagine if all of the German and Jewish citizens living in Germany were all armed - which soldier in his right mind wants to go door to door requesting citizens to hand over their guns. Which is why we’re not at all afraid of Trump or Biden or Harris, or China or Russia - we almost all have guns and are quite skillful at using them
You sound really proud of your gun laws. You should be ashamed of them. You are killing more of your own people each year with guns than you would if you were at war, not to mention the school kids
I believe in the 2nd amendment. I believe in the right to bear arms. But I don’t own a gun. I personally can’t stand guns. I think “assault” rifles should be banned. I think we need common sense gun laws nationally (not state to state). I know people will disagree with me. This is just my opinion.
Let our government try to take our weapons 😎🇺🇸 Love all our patriotic Brits Unfortunately there’s a lot of Brit’s that don’t care about the state of their country

100 million is a minority.

I’ll have to check the serial number but I own one that was made in 1897-98. I think the next oldest was made in 1915
Another item far more likely to be owned (and displayed) by Americans compared to Brits: a national flag.

The estimates seem to range between one-third and one-half of households having at least one.

The 800 year old churches are beautiful. I get depressed at the idea of some idiot buying them and turning them into pubs...
It would fall into disrepair if not repurposed . We have a lot of old buildings that are used for other things .

I have three Bibles in my house. One of them is 120 years old and written entirely in German.
Who cares about those fairy tales ?
@ archeological fact and other documented sources have proven they are not fairy tales. And to answer your sarcastic comment, ~16 million Jews believe in the Old Testament and the historical existence of Jesus Christ, ~2.4 billion Christians believe in the complete Bible and ~1.9 billion Muslims believe that Jesus Christ was a healer same as described in the New Testament. So ~55% of the global population care about those collections of writings.
The gun thing is a lowball estimate. Every year breaks gun sales records. Since they started tracking it. It's at about 700 million guns.
Also I have 3 large doggos 🐶 😍
Aye. That doesn't even include homemade guns, which is becoming even more popular.
@Sam11747 I've built seven so far lololol I bought a 3d printer for exactly that reason 😅
I own a "few" firearms that I keep in 4 safes and some of them aren't registered with the government ( it's none of their damn business ) and there's many people like me
My husband and I own probably ten Bibles between us. Different translations and different devotional material is why.
They left out “self-respect” and the Bill of Rights.

The house I grew up in had one bathroom. Other apartments I have lived in had one. One apartment had 3. The small house I live in now has 3 bathrooms. Only two of them have a shower. One just a toilet and a sink to wash up in.
My firearm collection is robust and growing. 😊
I switched to open carry back in 1996 from concealed carry and should have done it sooner.
A Pickup, an SUV and a spare sedan is an accurate description of my driveway.
More fridge space. :D

As such, one comedian described a bus as a "mental ward on wheels."
I've often seen the phrase online or on tee shirts "God, Guns, and Family" or maybe more often "God, Family, Guns." which typifies the strong adherence to and prioritization of these three things within American life.
We do like our luxuries!
we have 3 cars , always had dogs , I will neither confirm nor deny gun ownership . no bible , no gym membership many pairs of sweats , one toilet .
We are allowed in the UK to own firearms just regulated very well . None for home protection but farmers yes.

Regarding the ownership of firearms in America? A few things that aren't often disclosed/talked about, regarding the 'Numbers,' is this-
1) If America has (Just a guess here), 380 MILLION Citizens, a great many of them do not own any firearm.

The U.S. is the ONLY country on earth that has the right to keep and bear firearms and this is for a reason. Which is why we’re not at all afraid of Trump or Biden or Harris, or China or Russia - we almost all have guns and are quite skillful at using them
Plus that’s why you have a massive amount of of gun murders compared to any other developed country
You sound really proud of your gun laws. You should be ashamed of them. You are killing more of your own people each year with guns than you would if you were at war, not to mention the school kids
Albania, Czech Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, The Philippines, Switzerland, Ukraine and Yemen also have the right to keep and bear arms.
The word of cod shouldn’t be hidden but spread

I believe in the 2nd amendment. I believe in the right to bear arms. But I don’t own a gun. I personally can’t stand guns. I think “assault” rifles should be banned. I think we need common sense gun laws nationally (not state to state). I know people will disagree with me. This is just my opinion.

Love all our patriotic Brits
Unfortunately there’s a lot of Brit’s that don’t care about the state of their country
Show me where the US government has taken your guns. You can’t
I own about 20 guns
