Back in the day, I used to "clean" my engines using Redex. You had to set the tickover speed at 2000rpm and then drip the stuff into the carburettor. Result: as much white smoke as you had with that Range Rover. What good Redex did I am not quite sure!😆

That smoke cloud reminded me of my '52 Customline with a flathead V8. I had some issues driving the car, it fell flat on it's face when you stepped on the accelrator and it was full of gunk in the intake. I found a quiet backroad with few neighbours and poured RedEx in the carb while ideling. It smoked like your car and a passing driver called the firebrigade. I had a lot of explaining to do... That car is beautiful guys, not a lemon, but a gem!😅 26:57
Hi Rob and Chris, nice result with this one guy's, could have been a lot worse. Turned out to be another good result, and will be a really good buy for someone. Alex.
On all diesel land rover ,people never notice it's has a system when it's complete 250-350 miles ,it's system carry on self dpf cleaning and it's produce black smoke to clean the dpf all diesel particles. And try to use premium diesel and get the best mileage on motar way . I got 80/ gallon ... Nice car to drive ..
There was a steering recall in 2023 for that year of Evoque. Free of charge main dealer replacement of the aluminium bolt that hold the power assist motor to the rack. Worth checking the recall has been done.
It would only take an egg cup full of fluid in the exhaust to make that much smoke Rob. As i found out when i squirted a half a pint of diesel into the rear muffler on my Dads new Volvo for a laugh.
If you have done enough turbos you would know alway renew the oil feed pipe and clean the return pipe! On first start disconnect the inter cooler as that is where the lost oil is retained! If you don’t take this action the engine may run away! It is alway advisable to have a CO2 fire extinguisher so if it runs away a squirt of CO2 will stop the engine with no damage!
Great job lads, I know that first start and clearing of the exhaust system after replacing a turbo very well, I just did a twin turbo Volvo D4 at the weekend, makes a single turbo look like child's play, and then after about 10 hours came the start up, all went well and residue burnt off in the first road trip, but I have never seen smoke like yours, the only thing was it was kinda white, instead of blue smoke so I rekon you were right with the DPF cleaner. Love the videos and the outcomes, a good job done well!
Shame we didn't get one of Robs jokes at the end of this one too 😂 Another great video, this channel just goes from strength to strength and it's great to see 👍

Rob, if your going to give cornwall a go, got a lovely c3 aircross cat N with side damage you could take a look at 😂 2019 low mileage. Can be a good price would love to see you fix her up on your channel. Good excuse for a holiday !
It’s not long a drive from where you are, from Lancashire it’s a minimum 7.5 hours with next to no stops! Could all the smoke have been a dpf regen? That would explain the James Bond smokescreen but, it showed perfectly how the rear spoiler works.
Yep. Nice pick up and fix. That smoke looked horrible but great that it cleared up. Shame for the original owner. Be interested as to why the turbo nut came off.
Think your safe on this one lads did a VW turbo identical to how you guys did this one and was shock that even a small cap full of cleaner left in the dpf made so much smoke but cleared quickly and car now done over 10k miles 👌

Great video as always ,,just a minor comment but I think u will find if you wear your seat belt the auto hand brake should come off .just to let you know.
Measuring how much comes out doesn't tell you anything, lets assume 1L of oil was sent down the exhaust and you add 5L of cleaner and then extract 4.75L of fluid this would mean you have 1.25L of fluid/oil still in the exhaust. Unless you know how much oil was lost and how much went into the intake and exhaust measuring it tells you nothing.
I changed a turbo on a car that had been run with a failed turbo for a few miles. Oil was right through the system. Cleaned out most of it but when it restarted the smoke was terrible. Took a good run to clear it out.
