    All that hesitation is everything they should have all paid attention to. A little anxiety is good, but that level is an indicator that a person is out of their element. Glad she wasn't physically hurt.

      Yeah, her body was so tight and stiff, she could barely move. I've seen it a lot. I've even been her! When our bodies do that as a response to anxiety it's called "armoring".

      As soon as I saw her you can tell she's out of her league. I did the same thing. knew I shouldn't take it due to icing but listened to a friend who went before me. I went after him over a hill and saw him down and hanging on for dear life. Hit the ice and proceeded to cartwheel down and off a cliff half way down. Broke my skis, tore my jacket to shreds and beat the hell out of me getting wedged into an ice boulder field. Never skied anything tough again.

    So why not trying it that day?
    The fact that she was scared is ok, fear is always respectful, and her choice walking - sliding down finally seemed to be much safer than skiing down and just crashing somewhere...
    The only point is that the guy should stay last for safety reasons. If she had an accident at the top, it would have been much easier for him to approach her!

At the speed she was going down head first, if she had hit him in the legs, not only could she have severely injured his legs, knees or ankles, she could have gotten injured as well. Head, neck and shoulder injuries were a very real possibility is she hit him. At the rate she was sliding down that slope, she was just a 120lbs cannon ball.
    Now instead of just one person sliding down the mountain, you have two and both with possible serious injuries. She wasn't sliding towards rocks or a cliff and had a better chance of survival the further down she went since the incline was less severe below them.

      It's called "The Couloir", which is a double black off of Whistler's Peak Express Quad. Its next to "The Cirque".

      +Jamie Woodward Thanks Jamie! There's several couloirs at WB and forgot there was one simply called The Couloir.

      Rebecca, this is definitely not Couloir Extreme.....Jamie has it right. It's on Whistler. If you look off in the distance, you can see Blackcomb in the background.

    Not the funnest way to the bottom, but then again in the words of Wayne Gretzky, you'll miss 100% of the shots you don't take. At least she tried and didn't get hurt. I never got to be a good skier by not pushing myself.

      She was not skiing as she was holding her skis in her hands... I think she just practice falling off a cornice...or maybe she was practising how to become an emergency department customer...

    Was at that same spot with 3 buddy’s and you all clearly had much better snow than we did. And it was not fun! Basically one wrong move and you would be comin down like she did and the nasty snow we were on would have killed somebody. Friend was a local and were all great skiers and snowboarders but should’ve gone after fresh snowfall. She’s lucky she had some speed

    If you cant do a solid jump turn on 135cm skis, stay well away from couliors.
    That said, I use to jump turn 216s and get stuck sideways between rocks 🤣.

    • @damienkeijzer2954
      @damienkeijzer2954 2 года назад

      Wow, when and why did you have 216s. Longest I skied was 190, and that was for giant slalom/super g.

    • @johngillies6345
      @johngillies6345 2 года назад

      Was in the days of 'longer is better' Glen Plake was using 208s in the bumps so i thought 'bugger it ill get 216s n power down big alpine lines.
      Trees and tight spots were far from ideal but at 40 degrees plus gradient you can near jump turn anything.

    Just a bunch of gorbs stopped, hanging out in the middle of couloir for some reason, side slipping the snow down it. That’s a run that when you drop in, you ride through it and get out so someone else can try to enjoy the snow you’ve now scraped off it weirdly. Etiquette.
