Overall....I have to say the 500i . Its the best mid range saw I have ever run. Good power to weight ratio...very comfortable to run with a light 32 or 36 inch bar...just a comfortable saw to run with lots of power right out of the box....the only aftermarket thing it needs is the Max Flow air filter, because the stock filter is not much good.
100% agree on the Maxflo air filter…it made my old ms460 run so much better and catches a lot more dirt…along with a bark box it runs better than new 👍🏼
How was the lean of that tree? and I've seen possible fall as healthy back leaning 18inch pine of 57feet tall within 4feet lean. Is that amount of lean fair to overcome using two stacked wedges?
That sounds like a lot of lean. If you are really interested in the details of what is wedgeable ...jackable...etc. I would recommend checking out my Nor Cal Timber Faller School on the Locals Platform. Its free to join and on that platform I give examples and detailed instructions . Thanks ...as far as the lean on the Redwood in the video...it was a mild back leaner....maybe 4..5 ..degrees back...something like that.
@norcaltimberfaller1943 basically 4feet at 57feet is equal to 4degree according triangle calculator thought 4feet at 57feet is also 7% lean, but feel 1inch wedge excluding kerf thickness can't be enough to overcome.
The 592 with a 42 inch bar is really good for stumping these Redwoods off the top of stumps etc. The 500i is a great saw...but I always run a 32 or 36 inch bar on that...
Unbelievable how thick the bark is. Glad to see you running the 592. It’s a great saw imho
It’s either THAT or a tricked 572, unless that’s more than 32” bar.
❤
At around 6:00 you cut a second shelf. What was the purpose of that? -- (edit) I watched it again. It was to clear the saw handle. 👍
Yes... just to clear the saw handle.
Hey buddy of all the saws you’ve run probably a few what is your favorite saw
I also would like to know his opinion.🤔

So, you’re running a Husky for falling but a Stihl for limbing? I’d think that would be backwards. 😵
