So kind my friend
Didn't fall for the title Jay 😂😂 you and Jen are a match made in heaven.
I figured you all would get a giggle out of that. Lol
Wow what a great teaching lesson on tapping trees for syrup. I am finding this tapping and syrup stuff the boiler and the process fascinating. Thank you as always May Peace Health and Happiness follow you and yours
Thanks Bill....it is a very enjoyable hobby and process
Hello my lovely couple awesome video jay Rosa
Hello 😊
omg! right at the end when Jay is just standing there, no words, nothing. just standing there staring off in to the winter wonder land... was that a glitch in the matrix???...lmao,, Jay i really think u should build a sugar shack just for boiling ur syrup, we have alot of them up here in the country parts of Canada, keep it small, but can hold the buckets, boil, and store it all in one place, just a suggestion. thanx for sharing!!
That moment.....silence......it was golden. 😉 I like the sugar shack idea
Man that one tree was giving it up for ya Jay !! Glad to see y’all thawing out some
Me too buddy.......winter is being stubborn this year
Here comes the syrup!! They were flowing pretty good!!
😊
I'm from down south and it always amazes me how all of you yankees are so crazy about that syrup.
Lol......you'd think it had something special in it right? We are simple folk ya know.
The maple syrup setup is pretty cool.
Thanks, slowly getting better each year
Wish we had maples on our property, must be awesome to make Maple Syrup from your own trees! Thanks for the video Jay and Jen...
Our pleasure!
Hawe a nice weekend sir.! Hi from Sweden.
You too!
You are going to have a mega harvest of maple syrup. Good boiler setup. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦
I hope so!
MAPLE SYRUP MMMMM........lots of sugar shacks in southern Ontario Canada eh.......now I want to make some pancakes.......oooo or syrup on ice cream .........thanks Jay......lol there goes the diet.
Sorry about that...ha ha
Pretty cool...all around the house making it easier to keep it all in a faster check up and collect all the maple ...so good having it 😋
You got that right!
Awesome tapping the maples. I hope you get alot of syrup.
Thanks Melissa
that piping reminds of a giant muffler LOL. good job
What a great time of year - so many fun and productive projects to look fwd to once the snow melts! (Not taking away from all the progress you made inside over the winter!) You’re both working so hard towards soothing your souls. 🇨🇦
We are so so so excited to get outside again. Inside projects are just keeping me busy, lol, not my cup of tea though..ha ha
You ole "sap" 😅👋😎👍
Lol
Looking so fun 😊
It is!
Hello good working outside. Take care you ❤🙏
Thank you! You too!
May the Lord bless and protect you and Jen and you tapping a tree for sap
Ooh maple syrup and pancakes yummy, I love maple syrup and looking forward to seeing how you make it Jay, seems strange without Jen and the fur babies there with you, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Spring starts this weekend and so does the fun of the new years work! Looks like you entertain yourself well. Keeping busy and having fun. Bet you're missing your better half though(oh, and the dogs)!!! 🐕🐕
🫙🫙🫙🫙🫙🫙🫙🫙🫙🫙🫙🫙
See ya, JB
Jay it's hard to believe that it's maple syrup season again. I really appreciate your passion for the life you live.
Thanks TC......life is short
Making me hungry for pure maple syrup! I buy it regularly but it is expensive so you are lucky! Great video. Keep ‘em comin!
Thank you! Will do!
Starting at the crimped end of the stove pipe is definitely the trick. Last year I was working at a local hardware store and I can't tell you how many times people brought back stove pipe and either needed me to put it together for them or claimed it was defective. LOL. One lady, who was in her mid 70's said she was rolling around on the floor wrestling with it for half an hour and she finally gave up and brought it in. As I stood there with apparently an odd look on my face she asked me if something was wrong? I quickly smiled at her and as I chuckled I said "oh, no. Not at all. I was wondering picturing in my head what that wrestling match must have looked like." After showing her the trick to doing them she knocked out the other three like a pro.
Very cool.......I struggled a time to two back years ago....but finally figured it out, lol
Looks like your new boiling set up is going to work great!👍
Oh ya, it is great.
Hi Jay can't believe it's that time again. So glad you have a dry place this year for sapping. Hoping for a bountiful sap year for ya... hard work pays off 👍 love u guy's 🥰
Time flies right? Thanks Angela....I'm excited too
Hi Jay. Looks like a beautiful day. Good luck with the maple syrup. My uncle made syrup every year in upstate New York. Then we use some to make candy with snow.
Sounds great!
👋😊🤗
I’m a producer in Ohio and yes you are right you catch the sap on the way down when the tree warms up. Don’t pound you taps in so far. You crack the bark above and below your hole takes the tree way longer to heal and it could introduce infection and you can loose sap. It only takes about 3 taps of the hammer as soon as the tap get solid stop. Good luck.
Cool, thanks for the info. Ya I learned the hard way last spring to not tap them in too far. Had some snap off in the tree, they were really cheap taps. Lesson learned. Best wishes
Now for the hard question...which love is sweeter?
Ha.....I plea the 5th, lol
Jenny would never leave you
Great video I think it's great how you think outside the box and get your projects done. we don't have maple trees in this part of the country where we live, so I must admit a bit envious you have a great natural resource. I think you are on to something J&J home tapped maple syrup ?$
Thanks Howie.....I find lots of joy in making something work without spending the big bucks, lol.
getting super excited about something loving every minute of it prepping to do a big thing for it and then when your done that sly grin wile you look on and just think hey i did the thing for more better future things!!!! great job my guy
So true buddy
Silent contemplation with Jay
Other than the Sponsor here, I try to keep the maple Sapping peaceful, LOL
OMG i really thought Jen left you left you lol
She left.....downstate, ha ha.
Funny you mentioned managing the forest. I’ve got 100 acre lot in central northern NH that I want to start cleaning up when I’m done with the cabin but I feel like that day is another year away. Two hour trips from home twice a month doesn’t help with progress.
Ya I hear ya buddy.....I spend about 10 hours a week driving around and another 10-15 videos....and another 10 doing business and family stuff. I love it and life....just be nice to work on projects sometimes, lol
@@OffgridwithJayandJen kudos to you on just the work on the videos alone. As a non-tech savvy 51 year old man, my head hurts just thinking about the editing and camera work involved in putting out all you guys do! Thanks
Those are killer trees! Mine run nice but nothing like that
Tapping maple trees to make syrup is on my BUCKET list! No pun intended!😂
Lol. Nice
I thought Jen left you lmfao you need her you would not make it without her you both are the best I guess Jen is working right and no timber or scooter either have a great week and weekend here from Ontario Canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😎
That bucket will be full in 5hrs. Does the hose shut off or does the sap leak on the ground..How many gallons of sap did you get last year. Plant you some more trees..SEMPER FI
It just over flows....but I try to keep up with it. I burned down aboit 150 gallons last year.
Jen wouldn"t leve you to long lol ❤
I would tap for maple syrup bur i dont have any red or blue buckets😏
Could just drink it right out of the tap
@@OffgridwithJayandJen haha. Sure! That would work.
If they just made wheels for boilers😊
Lol, truth.
Left you alone, maybe. But I see how you did that- make a suspenseful title to compel people to watch. Got it. Might work on the newbies, but I am on to you. HAHA! Syruping looks like fun! How many gallons of sap to a gallon of syrup, roughly? Did you say you can only harvest sap twice a year? Is the next harvest in fall then? Hugs from Colorado!! (one for Jen, too)
Sorry I have to be sneaky once in a while with the titles, lol. About 50:1 ratio with the sap to syrup and only once a year.....spring.
How's she goin'? ya gotta love sapping season eh!! You are getting some good flow already!! I don't think I'll tap this year. I don't think I would enouh time to boil off so I won't bother, I'll sure miss doing it though!!! I like your new evaporator and looks like a great set up for it too. Best of luck with your syrup!! Take care!!
Thanks Mike......you are welcome to come over and boil some sap with me anytime....open invite.
@@OffgridwithJayandJen Man wouldn't that e nice. LOL I'll take the beer!!
I eat Nutella sandwiches at almost 50. Delicious.
That is out of left field.....but I'm glad you enjoy them, lol
@@OffgridwithJayandJen darn RUclips. That was meant for the previous video I was watching and it switched to this video just before I hit send. I assumed it went to the correct video.
silly title, but good video, haha! 👍
Lol, ya everyone ALWAYS asks were Jen is if she isn't in the video, So i wanted to mess you you guys a bit, and it fit into the awesome song I found for this video, LOL. Glad you enjoyed it either way. Best wishes
Typicaly under a healthy mature maple woods nothing grows..to much shade. It might be best to take out some large trees, make trails and let some sun light to the forest floor so new growth can start.
Ya our Forest is thick. Maple trees are middle aged and need some of the poplars and Basswood to be thinned to let the maples take over
I think you need a special permit to use blue buckets to collect maple sap. Orange or white buckets are okay. Blue lids are okay as well as blue hoses. Blue buckets are illegal.
Seriously, I love seeing someone who enjoys a project!
Ha.....all them rules you know. HA ha
Man, that was a bunch of sap.
😊👍
Why hug a tree? When you can tap it all day!
Love it
Ephesians 1:3-4
King James Version
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Gods blessings over you.
Looks like your all "tapped in" these days...
Sorry to hear your genetics are so bad. My Dad's 94 and still driving and active.
No promises......every day is a blessing
