I did Charleston, SC (USA) to Bremerhaven, Germany as a passenger on a container ship about 25 (?) years ago. Wasn't much to do, but climb stairs, watch movies, and EAT! And EAT I did, gaining significant tonnage on the voyage! Excellent chef and a bountiful menu!
(EDIT: I don't believe commercial lines allow private passengers any longer. They were allowed to carry up to 12 passengers in the past. Believe COVID stopped that practice. I may be wrong. Also, Great Lakes "Lakers" carry a few passengers, but I believe one either has to win a lottery, or be invited by the Line)

I have had 3 trips on cargo vessels and the BEST holiday ever. Even 3 days of force 8 on a 1000 ton ship.

Noong araw may napuntahan kaming barko ng mga Pinoy at ang mayari ng barko ay Greek sobrang dumi at ang gamit nilang baso yung lata ng softdrink at hindi ok ang pagkain at sueldo nila

@ 1970 sobrang daming balasubas na company buti na lang sa good company ako nagsimula ng career ko 1977 up to 1991 after that our family move to US for good kaya lagi kaming nag cruise ng misis ko noong nag retire. Na kami ok naman buhay ng Pinoy sa cruise ship kaya lang ang haba ng Ora’s nila sa work hindi tulad sa merchant ship 8 hrs lang
