On most other albums this would be a stand-out track, on this it's just one of a number of great ones. I like the way it's broken up into sections each with its own hook. Dave Murray was always good on the slow solos and Adrian Smith's solo has a Thin Lizzy feel about it. On the original lyric sheet, the word "coming," in the final line was subtly underlined, just in case you didn't get it.
I had to be in bed for hours, and here I am still watching your videos. What have you done to me? I used to be more formal and didn't stay out so late. Have you bewitched me with your smile and those mischievous eyes? ha ha ha. Hey Just, you know there are many types of spirals. Spiral galaxies, a spiral of violence, the Japanese incense-type spirals to scare away mosquitoes, but there is one in particular that is wonderful. Spiral, Vangelis' magnificent album. What do you say... let's go after him one of these days? A hug.
Yup! Used to listen to a lot of Deathcore and such: Acacia Strain, Emmure and some others I can't remember lol. All Shall Perish is/was my favorite though.
To put it in fancy terms, there was a song, _Charlotte the Harlot_ on their eponymous album (eponymous being the fancy bit, of course ... nymous being something like 'name-ous", so epo before that meaning something like "reflexive" ... no, no, that's also fancy ... um ... "self-referential" ... not much better. Aye ... it's like the bands called Iron Maiden, like; and that's the name of the album. Also Iron Maiden. Apparently that's all "epo". Now I've forgotten where I am. What town is this? Who are all these strange people? Why does someone have that radio on too loud? ... Is the knowledge of my existence real? (To quote one of the fancier Tim Smith lyrics.) Let's see ... Charlotte appears in their first album. Now she's back. This is where she first met their sound: ruclips.net/video/OBR-A_YfxJ8/видео.html (I seem to remember there were a whole lot of serial killer stories on that album, so there might be a little window into one of their imagined minds in that song, and maybe it's in all the Charlotte songs?)
Ahah, New Kids in America!! 😂 Now, seriously. This album has such great songs but why not pick their previous? It's a damn coincidence, cause I just listened to it two hours ago. I said to my youngest son : pick a CD for us to listen. And, yep, he picked Killers (one of my Maiden favorite albums - perhaps the one I played more times since I listened it for the first time, around 30 years ago)
I'm not the biggest Iron Maiden fan - they became big in the early 80s when I listened to prog for my own pleasure and danced to pop when seeking a soul-mate. Metal didn't really fit into that equation (listen to the lyrics!) . Having said that, I was well aware of Maiden and have since acquired a few of their albums. This, for me, is in their top 10 best songs however.
@Owlstretchingtime78 yeah....I get that. I used to hang out and drink with these guys back in the late 70's early 80s in our local pub The Ruskin Arms in East London. They were the most humble decent guys you could meet. I must have seen them play there at least 30 times before they made the big time. I even played football ⚽️ with Stevie Harris for our local amateur team (Melbourne FC)and trust me,he was as good at that as he is on the bass!!! I met Bruce when he was the singer with Sansom and it was obvious he would join Iron Maiden!!! They have stayed true rockers, still the most humble decent blokes you could meet.....not spoken to Paul in years but I imagine he is still cool.......up the irons⚒️
With each mention of their “formula” I just see more deeply into your limited understanding of how great their songs are. 22, Acacia Avenue doesn’t play out like any other song on this album. You just don’t have much scope. The “formula” is that you don’t grasp things well.
This is not only one of the best Maiden songs, it's one of the best Metal tracks of all times!

This song has a wonderful mix of proto Thrash and Hard Rock and a wonderful Blues solo
My favorite off the album ..kudos Adrian Smith as the writer
This was my first metal album purchase. Top to bottom, nailed it.
Up the Irons⚒️⚒️⚒️......another banger,an absolute classic from the lads.

JP you are full of surprises. Your familiar with Acacia Strain.. Well in that case you have to do Acacia Strain, Bog Walker.

So good. So good!!!! It’s classic Maiden at all points.
Steve Harris galloping like mad on the Base!
Clive Burr was channeling some John Bonham on this, so powerful.
Rip.

Charlotte is kinda as important as Eddie..❤
Dungeons and Dragons heavy metal fare that i left behind about forty years ago!
Sorry to hear that.
@@markferrett700 I was a fan of the two D'Anno albums. I liked that rough and ready sound they had back then.

@markferrett700 What a great story that is. I also saw Samson back in 79/80, although i forget who they were supporting. It may have been Def Leppard!
D&D?? It's about an East End prostitute, LOL
