  • Preservation history was made as the first public passenger trains ran to Broadway on the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway. In this video we capture the arrival and departures in the form of authentic Great Western traction. With steam services now in operation we also see the operation of their vintage bus shuttle which operates between Broadway Village and the long stay car park. 7903 'Foremarke Hall' and 7820 'Dinmore Manor were the engines in operation, with 7903 seen across various locations.
I hope you enjoy is this preservation first !
    Locations in order
    7820 arriving into Broadway
    Shuttle bus arriving into Boradway
    7820 departing Broadway
    7903 departing Broadway
    7903 at Northwick Farm
    7903 at Little Buckland
    7903 at Hailes Halt
    7903 departing Winchcombe

Nice bit of driving there, leaving Winchcombe - skilfully avoiding any slipping - well done !

Beautiful video... If I ever get back to Britain, I know where my first stop will be! By the way, love the last few seconds as the steam and smoke from 7903 slowly clears to reveal the lovely country side. Thanks for all your great work!

A memorable film of an unforgettable day - as SVR member I wish it had been 7812, but dear old Erlestoke is currently in bits having her 10 year overhaul. In my view, Broadway station is one of the major achievements of railway preservation - all built by volunteers, average age 72 and rising. Despite colossal setbacks GWSR has made remarkable progress - onward to Honeybourne !

Philip Pankhurst it's not a 10 year it's a 2 year I got news of that just so you know 😃

Erlestoke Manor's heavy overhaul is planned to take 2 years - yes. She has to have one every 10 years - that's what I meant. I hope they can get her back by 2020.

Philip Pankhurst down at the little Bodmin and Wenford were hoping to make extensions too. We’re trying to restore the line to Wadebridge. But you are correct, the scale of the project and the man hours required to pull this off we’re both very high, I too am very impressed

You've certainly come a long way with this line. I walked it in September 1979 from Cheltenham to Gotherington when the original disused double track was still in situ. Wish I had walked the whole length now !

Love the video interesting clip of the old route master learning double decker. Love the shots of 7903 especially when starting the sound of her cylinder beat was music to my ears.
Nice job especially braving it out in the elements as well. Richard

Much enjoyed, thanks Liam. Excellent captures around the station, despite the number of people, and very good to see the ?Routemaster. Particularly liked the two last sequences with their wonderfully thoughtful composition. Kind regards, Bob.

That's a very nice setting among the pine trees, rather like Cheltenham RC. Lovely moody views with the steam against the grey sky.

5:41 to 6:00 A shot worthy of a Hollywood film! Great work by yourself and the loco crew.
Also, it's nice to see a decent amount of people in the video. It's hard these days to get people to support things, so that number of people must have been welcomed.

Joseph , in that part of the UK they are pretty blessed with volunteers. Nearly all of the new Broadway station building, platforms, signal box, bridge, track and signals was built by volunteers. Hence why it is such a big deal. Due to its location It will be one of the most popular heritage stations in the UK, so the effort was worth it.
