the only thing i understoood about this movie is that Gavin or whatever, loved melissa as a person and gave her the best of the three parts, the kid as a daughter from part three, the husband from part two and i guess the nice job from part 1
Well, Ryan agreed in the end, it was amazingly 'mindfuck' movie..., for the 1st viewing.. 2nd time onwards, I just need to get high, play it on big screen and keep analyzing to get new meanings each time.. Such a wonderful movie..
You need to get really REALLY high if you want to see what it's all eluding to in that way. Heavy shit and deep waters requires great efforts and abyssal dives.

the ending made it pretty clear, ryan is essentially the god of this universe that he created for entertainment but along the way he lost himself in the creations and went mad because he cant find/looses what hes looking for (its love and redemption) so he keeps resetting reality to try again. problem is every time he does not only is he wiping out literally all of existence on this plane of reality but he looses another part of his soul cause he knows its wrong. basically hes killing himself in his pursuit in the 3rd dimension so other multidimensional beings such as himself are trying to wake him up before he dies for good and takes reality with him.
there isn't really a solid explanation of this movie. you get from it what you take from it. if you take nothing from it and it makes absolutely no sense AT ALL, then you should seek a path of enlightenment. put down your smart phone and smart pad and smart whatever and take the time to listen to the wind, feel the rain, and really get a taste of life. you don't need smart electronics if your a smart person. this movie is in my top 3 of all time, the nines, lo, and princess bride
