This is one of my favorite Offspring songs, thank you very much. If a band does nothing but make the same music for years, they aren't a band. Bands change style, evolve their style, try new things. The Offspring are no exception. Sure, maybe it's different than most of their songs, but that doesn't matter. It is still The Offspring in the title. Same band.
Only started really listening to The Offspring last year. This is one of my favorites. It doesn't matter what type of song they record, it always sounds good. This one stands out just because it doesn't sound like the usual song they perform, but they perfected it and many others like it. The entire album gives me goosebumps in a good way.
How does it feel when you have it all? How can you live with nothing at all? Where do you run? Where do you go when the holes in your truth are starting to show? And the rain comes And the world is on my head Crave the sun but I can’t get out of bed How can you take without giving back? How does it work when it’s really cracked??? Want it,You got it,You’re sorry,You bought it,You’re sliding Want it,You got it,You’re sorry,You bought it,Can’t hide it Tell me who do you see.. Cause you look a lot like me...!!!
This song reminds me of the best times of my life. Driving around in the rain with my best friend just living life. Ahhhh, gotta love songs that make you reminisce.
SO many people criticize that bands like Rise Against, AFI, and Offspring have 'sold out' and that their more recent albums are too 'mainstream'. Really, bands mature and evolve. If they continued sounding like their 'old stuff' it would eventually get old and repetitive. Offspring's most recent album is their best in almost ten years, and Rise Against and AFI continue to be complete and utter GENIUSES musically, vocally and lyrically.
2021 and I just found this album. I'm blown away how good this album is, and I totally missed it. Currently trying to wear it out like all of their stuff.
Thumbs up for this \m/ Fantastic song!!!! The Offspring didn't sale so much just as the previous albums but they still really ROCK !!! Bob Rock is the producer on that one !!!
The Offspring amaze me. They always sing about what I feel. We can't want from people to change for us, without wanting to change ourselves. To want to have, without giving. Or just we should accept the people for what they really are and not to want more. Because no one is perfect and that's why we are the same.
this song is like a fusion between gone away and waht happened to you. lyrically its like what happened to you, but it musically it feels like gone away. so muchh passion.
2008 was the first time I heard it in a very dark time... And this song woke me up and showed me a way out. Actually, this song was the start of a long long journey. I mean it not only emotional... I mean traumatic level... I have to say Dexter wrote some "easy" songs that get directly to the point in your heart. And I think this is very unique in the music world. Mostly songs give you a feeling or a message, but some of Dexter's song gets deeper than that. Without that song, I would be a completely different person.
The offspring started 1983 by Dexter Holland in Orange County, Dexter Holland previosly appeared in the band Clowns Of Death. Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman first wanted to start a band and Noodles, Greg K and Dexter founded Maniac Subsidal.
I have been a diehard fan of this band since 1998. They were my first band to ever see in concert. First band I ever cared about. I own every single album they ever put out, and yet, this is the one and only song out of everything they have ever made that I absolutely cannot stand.... I don’t know what it is about it.... I just hate this song. I feel horrible saying it, this band introduced me to music! There is just something about this song, it just hurts my ears.
omg they were amazing live in atl with 311 and pepper i love this band sooo much and thumbs up if you think that blink 182,sum 41, and the offspring on tour would be the greatest ever!!!!
i have them. and you are right that they are more popish now then they were before, but still they were not more punk than the ramones, which is what started this whole discussion!!! that's the thing about music, everybody has a different perception about it. cheers!!!
Actually it’s the worst song on the album, and the worst song they ever made. I don’t know what it is about this song but it annoys the hell out of me. Personally, for me, the best song on this album is Half Truism.
My favorite song from Rise And Fall, Rage And Grae album, Along with Hammerhead,Stuff Is Messed Up,You're Gonna Go Far, Kid and Half-Truism... but the whole album is cool in my option.
Dunno why ppl are calling sellout. This song sounds alot like Gone Away, this is how The Offspring does ballads and has been. The Offspring made Hammerhead recently and that was harder than their usual. Tryin diff. styles isn't sellin out, it's variety and versatility. Just cause they're not writing song that make you nostalgic, doesn't mean they sold out.
And the rain comes And the world is on my head Crave the sun But I cant get out of bed Want it You got it Youre sorry You bought it Youre sliding Want it You got it Youre sorry You bought it Cant hide it Tell me who do you see Cause you look a lot like me....!!
the offspring are definitely not sellouts! to be honest, i kinda like the piano in some of their songs, it fits well in this one. that said, ixnay on the hombre is still my favorite album by them (though all of them are great)
To Double 0711,There is a difference between sellin out and being popular, selling out is changing your original style of music to appeal to a certain genre and being popular is a band sticking with their own style, sound etc,and still gaining loads of noteriety and fans and so on without changing to appeal to a certain culture or genre like so many good bands have done for one reason or another but mainly for the the money and their own personal gains or whatever.
Let's just leave it at this, If you Like the music listen to it, and if you don't jsut leave, and don't waste your breath on those who actually like it.
Linkin park doesnt even have a song named reminiscent.. a close title to that is iridescent.. and it sound nthn like this... But dude linkin park is an awesome band even if they kinda screwed up in the last two albums... but they play different genre from the offspring... both of the bands are awesome in their own way.
Agreed, although I can definitely see how people would see Linkin Park similarities. However, the voice and music still make it stand out as Offspring to me.
One of the Offspring's best non-punk alt-rock songs.
Dexter's voice is so powerfull in chorus,
best aggressive screamer ever !!!

Probably the best song on the album. Chorus is so epic. His voice has matured nicely.

Good a time as any :)
In my top 3 with Smash, Americana. Their new album is solid too
Love this song... love this band..
Very true. I love System of a Down, but I also love Serj's solo work. It's different, but quite excellent.
Beautiful song, I love the lyrics, it´s so deep, Dexter is incredible!
why is this band so fucking good
Sooo...it's been seven years now, any answers?
Because they are legends in the punk scene they have so much experience and they are just a perfect band in general
Not in it for the ego
Thumbs up for this \m/

Probably the best song on the album in my opinion. Chorus is epic.
Now they are! The Offpsring's first four or 5 albums are DEFINITELY Punk Rock! Just listen to Self Titled or Ignition!
Оказывается, я так скучал по Offspring!!!
The Offspring are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Them and Sum 41 are what i listen to the most :)
Not only that, but there are older Offspring songs very reminiscent of this.
Hope these guys come back to the states next summer.

Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman first wanted to start a band and Noodles, Greg K and Dexter founded Maniac Subsidal.
offspring didn't change that much, THEY JUST ROCK LIKE THE OLD TIME!!
I have been a diehard fan of this band since 1998. They were my first band to ever see in concert. First band I ever cared about. Hello from 2024
Dunno why ppl are calling sellout. This song sounds alot like Gone Away, this is how The Offspring does ballads and has been. Tell me who do you see
Cause you look a lot like me....!!
awesome song
This song always had a Linkin Park-influence vibe to me.
Ewwwwww gross. Linkin Park is AWFUL. What an insult.
Wasn't a fan of there later albums but their stuff from this time definitely sounds similar for sure.
love the song
the offspring are definitely not sellouts! to be honest, i kinda like the piano in some of their songs, it fits well in this one. that said, ixnay on the hombre is still my favorite album by them (though all of them are great)
thanks 4 put the songs
very nice song !!!!
@FTWBillbo Yep. I thought about it, and hte guitar riff in this is the same notes as new divide, only the groups of two were backwards.
Moc povedá kluci, jen tak dál! 8-)
makes me cry damn!
Tellement de sens dans cette chanson....
crazy awesome
I like this album...time to stop living in the past
To Double 0711,There is a difference between sellin out and being popular, selling out is changing your original style of music to appeal to a certain genre and being popular is a band sticking with their own style, sound etc,and still gaining loads of noteriety and fans and so on without changing to appeal to a certain culture or genre like so many good bands have done for one reason or another but mainly for the the money and their own personal gains or whatever.
well put man.
awesome.
I Like The Offspring !!!
Let's just leave it at this, If you Like the music listen to it, and if you don't jsut leave, and don't waste your breath on those who actually like it.
Offspring is the best band in the FUCKING WORLD, i have all their records and listen to them all the time!!!!!!!!!
should have been a single - one of their best!
To the person who said this song is reminiscent of Linkin Park... Sorry. Those posers can't hold a candle to the offspring. These guys are the best ❤
Damnnnn
Linkin park doesnt even have a song named reminiscent.. a close title to that is iridescent.. and it sound nthn like this... Both bands are awesome STOP HATING , that's what got the rock music community down
RIP Chester.
Both bands are awesome, stop with that "they're better" bullshit just enjoy the fucking music.
While I agree the offspring is better, Linkin Park makes some fucking badass songs. You'd be dumb to think otherwise
best songs on the album are a lot like me, half truism, trust in you, takes me nowhere, kristy are you doing okay and nothingtown
Agreed, although I can definitely see how people would see Linkin Park similarities. However, the voice and music still make it stand out as Offspring to me.
damm its so a nice song
i like how offspring experimented in this and really worked out, i wonder are they gonna release another album ?
its coooooooooooooooooooooll
itss greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
its awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
yeah
@P1RH4NA true, sounds alot like that song 'i want you, and i need you' ect.
Epic song, love The Offspring :) btw CS:S ASHES anyone? :D
Reminds me a bit of New Divide, by Linkin Park. Background Guitar, if anybody wants to compare. Interesting...
This song is incredible.
it's actually 'what i've done' by linking park has the same chords progression, not new divide :)
