Just came home a few hours ago from seeing The Offspring at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn, WA. Became a fan in 1994 and will be a fan for as long as I live. They still rock after all these years!

Not gonna lie, imma heavy Chief Keef fan and i been rocking with them, since 2010-2011!!! They have some of the deepest songs, and they deliver it in such a head banging way!
This song is incredible poetry. It evokes such a great despair with chilling imagery and the video compliments it so well, but the song on its own is multilayered. There is a double/triple meaning every few lines.
Noodles and Dexter still don't sound like they haven't missed a beat with this song guitar riff wise, and lyricism Dexter is still on top of his game with this song and a good bit of this album, but I can say if I had to listen to a new greatest hits album by The Offspring I'd want to hear this on it for sure....especially if this got remixed or extended...it is just so epic

Totally makes sense! The Offspring uses the same progression for a bunch of their punkier hits, and it is the same one they use here. Self Esteem, The Kids Aren't Alright, and so forth

mark wright It has though. Before Vietnam, war was just ordinary people fighting for their countries. Most wanted nothing more than to be worthy of the task before them and to make it home to their families. This is still somewhat true, but there have been a lot of changes. The Vietnam war saw a new level of fanaticism, where the Chinese forces were happy to make it as ugly as possible to break Americas will to fight. And it worked. Later, when America abandoned it's middle eastern allies, religious fanatics took over. So, many military conflicts in that region are no longer fought between ordinary people, but fanatics who can not be broken so must be killed, and superbly trained professional soldiers who are very good at killing them (This is 1 reason I'm an atheist, all religions survive because they demand conformity, if the religion is the state it gives those in power total authority, making slaves of the people they were meant to serve and dehumanizing outsiders). (To be clear, I'm talking about all conflicts between all nations who are fighting against or who are a religions state.)
Well, Chinese forces didn't fight in Vietnam, they (like the Sowjet Union) sent weapons and some military advisers and some non-military personel (repair crews for streets and railway tracks and so on). The Vietnam war (like the 2nd World War) was extremely dirty, no side got out clean (US troops were extremely good to commit war crimes, too). Also fanatism has always been part of war, suicide attacks aren't a new phenomenon, they already happened during the time of the Roman empire. Or take the berserkers, who also were mentioned (by other names) in imperial Roman times. Warriors so high that they didn't feel pain or fear. Oh, and another thing: Religious fanatics didn't take over when the US abandoned it's middle eastern allies in the 1980s, those religious fanatics were (and in some cases like Saudi Arabia still are) the middle eastern allies. For example, the Taliban could only win against the Sovjet Union in Afghanistan because they were supported by the USA. But I'd still say war does change. It has become more brutal and more damaging, because the weapons evolved, and therefore war has become more industrialized. Also war has become less personal, because it is now possible to kill enemy soldiers from greater distances, they don't even have to be on the same continent any more, if drones are used.
If there's a darker Offspring song, I haven't hear it. It's not clear where the song is going until the very end, and once you get it, wow. He tells you he's out of control from the start, but where it ends, yikes.
I remember the first time I listened to this song I thought it was cool that they made a song for the troops. Once they’d came around I was just like ohhhhhh.
The song is about a school shooter who believes he is a soldier doing this for the greater good. There are several clues about his military delusion through out this video. Dogs are ticking time bombs Birds are stealth bombers The Teacher and Students are news reporters and figure wearing a dunce hat The school is burning at the 2:40 mark The little girl could be a police officer The ball the little kids are tossing is a bomb At 4:12 is a dead soldier. The bombs are the coffins And finally is the military general. Which is a personification of his military delusion. This is all I can find.
Hmmm I think it’s more of PTSD and the response to the war in the Middle East. The epehant is the US, the camel is the Middle East, and the bear is Russia

This song is perfection
FINALLY AFTER MANY YEARS I FOUND THIS SONG, IT'S MY TREASURE
I am the one
Camouflage and guns
Risk my life
To keep my people from harm
Authority
Vested in me
I sacrifice
With my brothers in arms
Through this doorway
What's on the other side
Never knowing
Exactly what I'll find
Locked and loaded
Voices screaming
Let's go!
Come on do it
Here we go!
Oh, take a life
Ten others may live
Oh, that's just the way it goes
Oh, shut my eyes
It hammers in my head
Where it'll end
Nobody knows
Oh, take a life
Ten others may live
Oh, that's just the way it goes
It's playing over and over in my head
Where it'll end
Nobody knows
Stay the course
Reasonable force
I believe
I serve a greater good
Smoke and dust
Enemies are crushed
Nothing left
Where a man once stood
Through this doorway
What's on the other side
Never knowing
Exactly what I'll find
Locked and loaded
Voices screaming
Let's go!
But I'm just doing what I'm told
Oh, take a life
Ten others may live
Oh, that's just the way it goes
Oh, shut my eyes
It hammers in my head
Where it'll end
Nobody knows
Oh, take this life
Ten others may live
Oh, that's just the way it goes
It's playing over and over in my head
Where it begins
And where it'll end
Nobody knows
Bang, bang, it hammers in my head
Bang, bang, it hammers in my head
Bang, bang, it hammers in my head
In my head, in my head
Yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I fear no evil for Thou art with me
Locked and loaded
Gonna find my truth
Now I'm busting through
All hell breaks loose
And you can all hide behind your desks now
And you can cry, 'teacher come help me!'
Through you all
My aim is true!
My
My aim is true!
My aim is true
