    Running AND jumping rope are both very good. Jogging is better than nothing but too easy after a while and not enough to push your cardio. Interval sprints are better than long distance slow jogging.

    Great tip about the crossovers. I'm guilty of only crossing to the wrists and not the elbows which helps explains why my cross overs are inconsistent. Never realized it until I viewed this video.

    One other thing.I agree crosses to the elbows is so much faster, but I find it hard to do crosses that way when running in place. I see some Floyd videos and he's crossing while running. Any tips on that as well?

    Keep calm and keep trying. Nose-breathing is very hard for people who never breathe that way. The muscle is weak and gets tired easily. But the important thing is to stay calm and let your nose breathing slow down your heartbeat. If you panic, you'll feel like you can't get enough air. Besides, mouth-breathing can be done without opening your mouth. Fighters typically exhale through their mouthpiece.

    Great instruction I have no problems doing double unders, but my crossovers tend to be with one knee up always and I think its primarily because of doing figure 8s instead of the down motion which is clean.

    1st time with the jump rope today ! I'm not to good yet I can only jump like 20-35 times with out messing up . but I can do double already ! But I'm gonna jump every day and maybe even make a shout out video when I can do the double crosses haha! Thanks for the tips ! Quick question when I jump and try to breathe through my nose I feel like I can't suck in enough air,so I breathe like I'm running in through nose out through mouth , any tips to clear the airways of the nose or something?

    Johnny I have a question. When u demonstrate the crosses as you describe it " some pro when they do it" when ur jumping there it looks like your crossing twice. Its hard to tell.Are u crossing once there?
    I'm having trouble doing the double crosses consecutively. I can do them one at a time.

    Boxer speed rope.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    I don't understand your question. One jump means the rope goes under my feet once before I land again. Double jump means the rope goes under my feet twice before I land again.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    I go straight.

  • @piranhaleg
    @piranhaleg 11 лет назад

    hey when you do that double cross over, does the rope clear your feet before or after your feet touch down after you cross? I cant tell on your video. When i try this it ends up hitting my feet before i get to jump again.

    Hey Johnny, How do I run in place while jumping rope. I try but still don't get it.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    I really don't agree with this on so many levels. There are so many sports and physical exercises that use similar movements. The body does this quite naturally and easily. I don't know where you learned this but many physical movements would be considered (in your standards) "bad for the heart" because they use a jump in place.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    Instead of trying to actually do a running motion, try concentrating on lifting your knees.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    Link the video because this is really way off what I've seen. Every champion I've ever seen train (over 20) jumped rope in place. Everybody at Wildcard Boxing gym jumps rope in place. Manny Pacquiao's doing it everyday and he's got great cardio if you ask me.

      expertboxing like when u jump or stomp can u feel it cleanly through or its has strong padding

    • @expertboxing
      @expertboxing  10 лет назад

      No, boxing shoes are generally very lightly padded (to give you more "feel" around the ring). The ring itself is plenty padded already.

    Hey johnny, I wanted to say thanks. I'm guilty of the figure 8s but I've changed it. I'm having big troubles getting that double cross over. I see that the speed to spinning the rope twice is crossing super fast and back. I see some guys feet kind of lean forward a bit in the jump. Maybe that's because like you said u have to pick ur butt up a bit. Any more tip on this double cross over that u can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I just got a new metal coated rope.check my video.Thks

  • @aghd334

    Could you please provide a credible source that backs up your claim? Maybe you're referring to the line used by Ali's trainer in the movie "Ali". If so, he clearly meant that jumping in one spot does no good for the heart of a boxer, you need to move around more to intensify the workout. There is no evidence showing that jumping rope in one spot is bad for the heart, logically it does not make sense.
