I'm from Serbia and this is by far the best yugo I have ever seen and belive me I have seen many many yugos eaven my father owned 3 yugos but all of them were stock.

Such a feel-good video, knowing this guy made that car from scratch out of what most people would say is a bit of a shit car, into something that freaking awesome is an achievement, then watching him hammer it around the Green Hell, overtaking chumps and wringing every morsel of power out of that old-school Lancia engine, is just perfect. Much respect.

Less then 800kg, 135 WHP... So a regular performance car around 1500-1600kg. That ads up to 260-270 WHP (roughly 300BHP). So if you think about it, this thing is a proper performance car. Take into consideration it is an old school carb thing.

Angry Italian engine from 70's. It bytes so determinen in every gear. I could imagine how it would perform coupled with some modern ZF transmission. Yugo unfortunatelly is very non-aerodinamic car with quite high drag. So end speed over 160 is success. YouGO!! BTW This one should be called "Zastava Yugo 135 T.C."

The problem was that the people who purchased them usually were cheap and didn't bother with changing oil or servicing the car for that matter. A lot were commuter cars for poor students and quite a lot of them didn't bother with ANY car they owned. And btw, most French, Italian and British cars at the time had *worse* reliability. People who bothered to service their Yugos saw them rack up an impressive amount of miles on their odometers. Shit box? Too harsh. Bad car? Not quite. Below average? Probably. For the price? Pretty decent. Well, you get what you pay for. And FYI I have driven one. Nowhere near as bad as I imagined. Compared to most 80's hatchbacks only Japanese cars and Volkswagens were better. South Korean Hyundais were a nightmare in the 80's.
Carmrade Andrej has a fucking amazing Yugo, did not expect it to go so well on the lap but I have big respect for him for being able to build such an awesome car.

That thing sounds amazing ! Twin carbs on that Lancia engine. And gearbox seems realy nicely geared. Altho i think it needs a 6 speed. Its got too much power for that short gear ratio.

None was more fan than my first rally car, a Yugo with Lancia Delta engine, Uno Turbo brakes, Alquati steering, Alquati gearbox, Osrav racing suspension, on 750 kg car hanging on a roll-cage. It was not the fastest, but it was the most fun by far.

Yugos with just 1.6 8v swap can go +190km/h, there is a Yugo with 2.0 16v turbo that goes +260km/h
