Yep, average rent in the spokane area is about $1400 a month, so he's definitely getting a good deal. If you want a good area, you will pay much more per month in rent. Cost of living is very good here, but rent is a big factor here. It's a good area if you like the outdoors and outdoor activities. I'm in Spokane Washington and for most of my life I've made less than 40k. Most years much less... My total monthly outflow is about $1000 a month. Medical insurance, gas and food make up the majority of my expenditures. My number is so low because I'm a tightwad and saved my money hard. His rent is $400 though. When you live with roommates, you spend less time in your apt cooking and more time eating out. 4 people share a kitchen doesn't really work if everyone cook every meal.
We are experiencing homelessness in Spokane because companies come and buy up large amounts of property, driving up prices the last 3 years. Even the last 10 years it has more then doubled here due to growth. Now we have people from Seattle and California flooding in because it was affordable for us. Now it is affordable for people who sell their homes for millions and move here for half the price or less.
I am always astonished by how many people study something vague and then don't find a job. I think schools don't do a good enough job to discuss career opportunities with students. There should be a mandatory week or even month where students work full-time on not only what they're good at but also most importantly get taught in what study area careers are possible. It can't be that kids spend thousands of dollars on a program and then don't find any job, it's bad for them and for society. As a personal note, I myself found city planning very interesting while finishing high school but didn't really find the career options appealing (in Germany, it's very much controlled by law to every detail, I wanted more freedom in my job). I went to the same school as this guy, got my degree in math & physics. took 3 year to find work, school just recommended i go to grad school. The career center is a joke, colleges gotta do better
im on a nonprofit and we provide scholarships to students and that is the one thing we hate is how students can essentially get the scholarships and make it like a salary/refund from the university to their personal accounts. My personal opinion is the scholarship funds should go to someone who actually needs it for affordable college. If the university is already paying your tuition you don't necessarily need the funds no more.
You get whatever amount is left over after your tuition and fees directly to you. For me, that rebate money helped keep me afloat throughout the semester. There are more expenses related to going to college besides just tuition and books… especially if you go away from home.
Wow. I'm glad that pay for graduate assistants have gone up. I finished my doctorate in 2003. Back when I was working toward my doctorate, I got full tuition and my living stipend was $12,500. But I did not have to teach or assist, as I was on full fellowship. My peers, who worked as teaching assistants, made about $18,500. This was in LA, where cost of living was really high. We were all living basically just above the poverty line. Most grad students took second jobs teaching part time for enrichment programs or prep schools or community colleges. Or they relied on full time working spouses. In addition, many had parental help. And quite a few took out up to the allowable maximum of 20K in student loans every year. Since I was on scholarship, I was not allowed to take any loans, which sucked at the time, because my lifestyle really lagged, but in retrospect having that limitation placed upon me was the best thing ever. Or else I would have ended up like my peers, with over 100K in debt.
I make ~$20K with health insurance but I only live comfortably being in bumfuck nowhere with 1 bed apts going for $600/mo. I would be struggling if I stayed in Florida for grad school.
Yeah, try living in Spokane as a restaurant worker only making like 15k to 20k a year and you can't even get home without worries most nights cuz the buses stop running at 10pm. Also 70% of your wage goes right to the landlord, that's just rent mind you. Almost always broke looking like a bum only a couple sick days or injury away from becoming one. There is no calling in when you work restaurants, you will get fired you will get cut no question ask and there is nothing you can do about it. the best investment is to invest on yourself..... You are the best asset to grow and developed.....
I watch city beautiful too
I live in the greater Seattle area and it’s impossible to live up here with that much money you need at least 100k to have a living, going to Spokane was a good idea, but I feel like it’s so disconnected from everything, most jobs are also in the Seattle area
People in eastern Washington prefer it that way
Let's try it on under 12,000. 🤣
So he doesn’t really work…..

My life has totally changed since I started an investment of $ 7,000 and now earning over $ 57,000
After my encounter with Mrs Angela Maria Brown in the United States, my life have totally change, they're yours can also change it's just a matter of commitment and focus.
Who's this professional , everyone is talking about ? I always see her post on top comment on every RUclips video I watched I'm interested how can I get in touch with Mrs Angelia Marie Brown ?
No credit card! One of the biggest mistakes anyone in college can make is getting one. They should teach this in high school as far as budgeting and being financially responsible. Remember starting college and Visa / Mastercard reps were practically giving these away during the first introductory week with a 20 plus % interest rate.
Is 32k after taxes or not?
Graham about to have a field day with the debit cards 😂

White and privileged, NEXT!
First
the dude complaining about...pff..spending $200 in gas? dude im easily spending $500 a month on gas, what world you live in? LOL
A privileged white man who grew up not thinking about money, college paid, not needing a job while going to college, graduated with a degree & didn’t know what to do with it… he’s now finally know where to go but he’s realizing that life is expensive without his parents’ help. Nothing inspiring about his story.
That’s your fault
easily spend 500 amonth on gas ? sounds like you drive a truck, you need to sell it and get you a honda and watch how much you save
Maybe your life is too car dependent?
@@djkenny1202 What ya wanna me to ride, a horse to work? Guess grass cheaper then fuel,... (lol) In all seriousness, everyone of the "majority" norm, uses vehicle for work and everyday life use and to travel. Welcome to the adult life and bills.
I’ve already made double that this year
While going to school?
He tithes $120 a month and says he gives 10% but his budget is over $2k a month. Clearly he needs more education to make it in life.
