What amazes me most about Ohtani is he makes you think nothing in pro baseball is impossible......and I'm not just talking about being an All-Star caliber hitter AND pitcher. For instance, in 2022 he was giving opposing hitters fits and racking up strikeouts with a devastating slider and nasty splitter. So you expect in 2023 he would improve on those pitches right? Wrong. Instead he moved away from using those two pitches and started throwing insane sinkers and crazy sweepers. I mean what other pitcher does this? And to top it off......all his pitches are B+ grade or higher. I don't think he has any sub-quality pitches in his repertoire.

You know, this might be the best comment I've gotten. As you may know, hearing your own voice is quite cringe and I really doubted my ability to do a good voiceover. It's definitely not perfect but it will improve. Thanks, I really appreciate it!
I think he makes it in just for 21-23. While certainly not the craziest stretch for pitching or hitting, it is lilely the greatest all around three year performance in baseball history. 28.6 bwar in a 3 year span is crazy. The records he has broken and set, the insane feats he has accomplished. Its one of the few short years that entirely deserves recognition in the hall of fame.
As of now, he's underperforming in the playoffs, but he's still amazing. Obviously, that talent. But the humility, work ethic, and willingness to sacrifice in order to win puts him in another league. GOAT as a baseball player is still up for debate. But GOAT as an athlete and human being, I don't think there's another candidate in the same league.
Being Japanese helped because here we make a guy pick one or the other. Guys like Freddie freeman were pitchers growing up but mlb picks which he would succeed at and tries him only there. Few instances where there were converter from field to batter or vice versa. Kenley from catcher to pitcher and ankiel from pitcher to hitter. Are just a few changed sides.

Bottom line: YES he's worth it to the LA Dodgers. Their corporate retail analysts already ran the numbers. Even if they don't win a championship as long as Ohtani is active the total revenue Ohtani brings in with merchandise sales alone (we're talking GLOBAL sales) will pay for the $700M itself in a short time. That's not even including ticket sales and every other type of lucrative partnerships Ohtani's gravity pulls in. Shohei Ohtani's true "value" is really in Billion range when it's all said and done and the receipts are tallied. So yeah, Dodgers can afford him.

I’m a huge NPB fan and trust when I say they been coming and they are not stopping! Ohtani new documentary on ESPN was good a few weeks ago.
I think in the next few years, we will see many players come over to the MLB. I think my next topic will be why Japan Is the Future Of Baseball.
